I have a update on my evap not ready status. As of yesterday all monitors are green and no DTC's present. What I found with my scan tool is that it has drive procedures for getting your monitors to clear. For my evap monitor #1 idle your veh for 5 min. #2 place your car in gear and get it up to 30 to 40 mph for 2 min. Don't go over 40 mph. I tried this 3 times and the 4th time was a charm. The OBD2 scanner I have is a Zurich, this tool just payed for it's self 10 fold !!!. Find yourself a back road someplace that's safe for you to do this really helps.

    Yo this helped me out!
    I was between 1/2 a tank and 1/4 tank.
I tried everything else and decided to just fill up the tank to full, then drive home, turned the car off and checked the "readiness" option and EVAP was 'OK'
    THANK YOU!

Thank you.i would of never guessed that the level of gas in the tank had anything to do with smog.

I have an issue with my cobalt i replaced my manifold, catalitic converter, and oxygen sensors. Once my catalitic converter passes i immediately get the check engine with only the p420 code. The evap never passes? I changed my gas cap, cleaned injectors, spark plugs are good. Solenoid is good. You think my evap can need replacing? How does one test if its bad?

The last remaining monitor EVAP never went away on the 2000 V6 Camry in over 6 years and still won't go away. Replaced gas tank cap with OEM, replaced O2 air fuel sensors with OE, replaced spark plugs, remove both transmission and engine oil pans, replace transmission filter, clean engine oil pick up tube, clean throttle body, replace PCV valve, replace air filter with OEM, replace ignition pack coils, replace plug wires, clean mass air flow sensor - no can do. Probably forgot a few things. Idle a little high, use a little more gas otherwise car runs great! Its an old car.

EVAP canister, EVAP Purge Solenoid and EVAP Canister Vent Solenoid. Those need to be checked especially if the vehicle has been on allot of dirt or gravel roads.

Gonna try it. Because I had replaced two head valves. I have been running the vehicle for 2 months with no mechanical issues
Except the EVAP not being on.

Great info. Maybe, this is why my 2008 BMW (335XI Model) has the Service Engine Soon light on which states a problem with the EVAP....Hoping. Thanks.

My gas is at 1/2 and its been about a week for my evap monitor, I had my cat replaced on Wed of last week and all monitors have cleared except the evap. What else could it be other than gas in the tank.

funny my test was incomplete and I only had like 1/8 of a tank left , so chances are that was it.

As long as the monitors are not cleared, your car is not collecting data, very concerned.

So my EVAP monitor will not complete on my 2003 Ford Econoline van with 28K total miles. I have about 1/2 tank of fuel, will add additional fuel and check gas cap to ensure it is tight and hopefully it will complete. Yes, I did change the battery recently but rarely drive the van so more miles we will put on it.

You don't need the evap monitor ready to pass a smog test.

@@MrFresh559 wrong ... That's the only one allowed to be incomplete as long as the rest are complete and in some cases like modern cars no permanent codes...
