Shane's well remembered by all of us wrestling fans from the '90s. He's made his mark, has a lasting legacy and I hope he knows that.
He has too - he had a strangle hold on one of the most important championships of the 90’s……in a promotion that changed the wrestling industry forever
fuck all money to show for it though
@@johnjoejoyce-ih7qy probably right
Also Hunter stole his gimmick
@@kidneystonermusic I agree there
Shane is a class act! I think a whole company could've been built around the franchise, he was an awesome heel and a great worker!
ECW was built around him for a bit then they realised he's a charisma black hole I don't dislike him by any means I just never saw any star quality at all and neither did any company he ever worked for.
Shane Douglass is very well spoken and I enjoy listening to his interviews. Thanks!!
I love to hump my sister
He should be well-spoken. He has a master's degree in English. He was a teacher before he started wrestling...
@@mistermann3225True, but I have had professors with masters degrees who were terrible speakers.
@@CheckmateFixit did they have master's degree at English? I could see someone with a master's degree in math or something that couldn't spell. But literally having a college degree in the language you speak and write should lead you to speaking well...
It's incredible that after those guys ruined his opportunity to be a big star in a major company and make millions of dollars, he still has positive things to say about any of the Kliq - especially that he's so compassionate about Kevin Nash losing a kid. Sure, he's a dad as well, but those guys took money away from him that could have gone towards his kids' education. Classy, but I don't know if I'd go that far. Shane had one of the best heel characters in wrestling, especially in the mid 90s, and he could have gone a long way, but not only did those guys banish him from a place where he could have made really good money, one of them blatantly plagiarized his gimmick and married the boss's daughter, making him the heir to a billion dollar fortune. I'd be more than a little upset about that. Paul Levesque staked half his career on burying Troy Martin. And as a fan, I would have much rather seen a heel Franchise in WWF in the late 90s than a heel "Game" or whatever he's calling himself this week. There's heel heat and there's go away heat, and HHH had go away heat with me. Apparently, nice guys do finish last. If you cheat and politick your way to the top, you can be a big star. If you play by the rules and work hard, you get banished to the number 3 promotion in the country at the time.
He's always had fairly complementary things to say about Nash, X-Pac and Justin Credible. It was mainly Scott and Shawn he seemed to have issues with.
They didn’t ruin his career. Shane always leaves out the part how Yoko Zuna, Jim Cornett, the undertaker, Vince McMahon, all of these people also gotten Shane‘s face in the back and told him he wasn’t cutting it. But if you start saying, undertaker and yokozuna, had talks with him now, Shane doesn’t really look like a victim. Look, I’m not saying those guys were perfect, but why would they care? This idea that Shane would’ve been Stone Cold Steve Austin or something if it wasn’t for them is stupid. Shane was a good worker I don’t have anything against the guy, but I think people want to hate those five men so bad that they just believe anything that anyone says about them
Shane is a better man than I. I don't think that I could take the high road the way that he does, about all of this.
Shane literally spent 20 years crying about it. So now that he's giving interviews with a different spin he's taking the high road? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
good thing having a good argument isn't "crying". 👍 don't spam nonsense again.
@@MetlKen87 Really, he was crying about it? I don't remember him crying. I remember him answering questions about it, and giving honest answers about it, and telling the true story about it. Is that crying? If someone intentionally sabotaged your potentially very lucrative career, amd cost you millions of dollars, and publicly bragged about it, how would you handle it?
@Thomas S lol he absolutely spent over 2 decades crying about it. And about how Flair held him down in WCW in the late 80's/ early 90's. It's the same damn story. Eventually Shane needs to realize he was never going to be the mega star he always thought he would. And it's his fault alone.
welp, no point arguing with a braindead repub.
I recall Kevin telling a road story on his podcast about Bam Bam almost getting he and Scott potentially killed by mouthing off to some bikers in a store or something.
Yep it was a group of Hispanic gang members. Just watched that clip a few days ago from Nash's podcast
Yep. and those are the type of stories that don't always get told. So, we have to check our judgments sometimes. Because yeah someone almost getting you killed might really piss you off
Bam had a big mouth. True story! He would throw the n word around like jolly ranchers. Until he realized that only ECW would hire him, he changed his ways.
@@Blacattacsquadron Bam Bam lived a criminal life as a youth. Then ended up being a bounty hunter later in life. He had a lot of ups & downs. Saved 3 children from a fire. Also one of his own children from his final GF was black so not sure he was throwing around the N word in the manor you think he was Bam was a wannabe in his youth & ran with all the black kids.
Him* and Scott…not he and Scott.
I meet Shane briefly in Baton Rouge Louisiana as he was walking out of a hat store I was going in and literally bumped into him at the maul during the ECW days,When I looked up to see who I just shoulder bumped...lord behold it was the franchise!!!! I kept my cool and briefly talked to him for a sec he was very nice to me even after the stiff shoulder 😂 but very awesome and wish I could have gotten his autograph, also thanks for not beating my ass Shane and still to this day I remember that like it was yesterday
🤣🤣
It always amazes me how the Kliq gets a free pass for stuff like this but everybody tears George Gulas apart simply because he wasn't a great such a good wrestler.
Even Dutch Mantell and Jim Cornette can agree that George Gulas was TERRIBLE.
Why does that amaze you?
Daddy says SELL!!!!
Of course vince is gonna side with his boy toy
you're an idiot
The Kliq buried Shane, PCO, Adam Bomb, Bob Holly, Ron and Don Harris, and several more.
They sucked!
Kliq was cancer but they are now WWE celebrated thanks to Triple nose taking over creative.
Candido, Bigelow, Mabel, Pierre Lafitte, Adam Bomb, and Dean Douglas are among the wrestlers that the POS Kliq screwed over
Yep. They made Candido suicidal over it.
@@Richie3Jack Punks!
Mabel is the only one that deserved it at the time. He was injuring guys left and right. The rest were just power trips.
I didn't like what Shawn did with Tammy with Chris knowing about it. I didn't like it all. And yet Candido couldn't ever end his relationship with Tammy. Yes the Kliq did damage to Chris Candido but Tammy did a lot worse damage to Chris IMO
@@shawnwbronx Wrestling isnt ballet. Mabel was green. He was a good young talent in 96 and shouldve been given a chance like other reckless wrestlers were given ie Goldberg, Ahmed Johnson, etc
Kevin also apologized on the podcast for the Kliq ruining Shane’s WWF run
Little late for that. It’s easy to do something wrong and then apologize for it later. The big get out of jail free card in America is “finding God.” Assuming it’s Christianity. In America, that’s the only religion you’re allowed to find. You can do all kinds of bad things to enrich yourself as long as, when you’re filthy rich from your behaviour, you apologize for it. It’s pretty hard to take an apology from someone who made a lot of money helping to make sure you didn’t and then asks for forgiveness from his big house. It’s sleazy, because if you don’t accept the apology, in some messed up society, you look like the bad person - even though the other guy or guys wronged you. You’re obligated to accept it. Shane is still in wrestling because he probably doesn’t have the money to fully retire - unlike some people.
What good does that do now for him
@@EAchank "Sin now, repent later" seems to be their motto.
"Hey bruh, sorry I ruined your career for my own selfish reasons. My bad. We cool bro?"
@@EAchank It's an acknowledgement. Everyone knows you can't turn back time, but instead of denying it he acknowledges it. Which is better than most would do.
@@RickKoeppen i guess Kevin owes him a big mac combo whenever they meet lol
Fun fact The GAME Triple H & Chyna gimmick was motivated by The FRANCHISE & Francine gimmick also that GAME gimmick was meant 4 Jeff Jarrett & Debra NOT HHH & Chyna but I wouldn’t B surprised if the kliq had something 2 do with it because of backstage politics lol!
The Kliq got their punishments it seems ...Nash losing his mobility(bad legs ) and later his son , Scott lost career (alcoholism) and his life , Shawn lost his eyes( cock-eyed) and his hair (baldy)
Yeah, nash lost his son and best friend Hall. HHH almost died and had to quit wrestling. Hall died of alcoholism. Hbk hit the wall on all fronts.
Well spoken Shane. Don’t ever hold grudges and you have to just be the bigger guy sometimes. Your a legend
The Franchise doesn’t need no Kliq or Nature Boy to make an impact
Douglas always seemed to like Nash and Pac away from the kliq, he seems ok with hall, his biggest issues are with hbk and hhh,
Adam Bomb and Jean Pierre Lafitte were some guys that almost had sabotaged runs because of the Kliq.
Adam Bomb had a great look but I can't remember a single memorable match. Jean Pierre Lafitte however (much like Hakushi) had a GREAT program with Bret Hart. Lafitte could have been a major player for the IC title.
I think that it was generally hard to climb the charts between 93 and 98 in the Company, when the click was around!
Hard... impossible
Isn’t a Kliq what high school girls call themselves
Yep! They acted like a pack of Tw@ts.
Yes
Which is exactly why they should be called the Kliq.
Kliq is what Triple H does when McMahon slides inside him.
@@thomass789 You're funny you would never say that to any of their faces
That list is longer than the China wall.
The kliq hurt the company way more than they helped it. Kinda like nwo 4 years later.
Ah WWE is still in business
The business was on life support until DX and NWO and Austin saved it.
Hbk and them were jealous Bam Bam was in Major Payne with a speaking role lol
Bigelow is deceased and HBK works with the kids in NXT. I think Shawn did just fine
@Chad K oh yes. Shawn is a great example these days

They even partial buried the Rock. He was the only legend who was almost a jobber half the time.
Careers nothing, the Kliq killed an entire wrestling promotion.
Id love to see shane contibute to the new nwa or aew like agent manager or something.
Shawn allready started with Marty Jannetty.
But Kevin Nash seems like someone who get along with alot Guys.
Shawn totaly worked Marty into breaking up The Rockers then burying him as a potential singles so he could get over himself.
Definitely, Marty helped it by just being party guy. Leaving openings to get busted. Because they went thru AWA together and to just break up... to easy
@@mvjr7758Shawn was absolutely right to get away from Marty. Marty was/is a fuck up drug head. HBK wanted to succeed in the business not just party
The kevin nash thing doesn't surprise me. He was like that with hogan during the wcw/nwo days.
I would of loved to see Vader vs Shawn in a Brawl 4 All.
Vader gets buried and it's bullshit...he would have destroyed Michaels and beat the phuck out of Paul if he didn't want his money
MSG (Madison Square Garden) = the infamous "Curtain Call" incident (May 1996): Triple H (who got punished), Scott Hall, Kevin Nash (Hall and Nash were leaving the company) and Shawn Michaels (was protected by the WWE); later on, I found out that Sean "1-2-3/Lightning Kid/Syxx-Pac/X-Pac" Waltman was also a Klique member.
3:30 If Promotion A, whatever that Promotion B.
that amused me, don't think it was intended.
I agree with just about everything Shane has ever said, except for here where he says WWF/E brings you in for a reason, they have a plan for you. What was the plan/end game for T. L. Hopper and Freddie Joe Floyd?
To be generic jobbers.
Cornette said they were brought in to be jobbers to the stars essentially, except they skipped the part about them beating people and went straight to jobbing
Shane is great
I think what's more comical about all this is the comment section here which is clearly grown ass men over 40/50 still arguing about things that happened 30 years ago not even in their life but someone else. No wonder why so many women are confused these days and so are boys you got men like this in the world not letting go of things that didn't even happen to them from 30 years ago. Weird. And sadly they defend and fight about it. I just enjoy listening to Shane talk. He's always got a good mind for things whether you enjoyed his career or not. I actually didn't see much of his career but as time goes on his interviews are always solid even if he stretches some of it but he words it well and never really puts anyone down.
Defending HBK is weird. Most of you all wouldn't spend a moment with a homeless Vet or a druggie but yet HBK was nothing more than a popular drug addict and drunk and yet is loved. That's the different between fame and no fame. If your neighbor acted like HBK did in the 90's you'd ignore him and if you have a daughter you'd want her no where around him but since he made your childhood happy you defend him. Typical stupidity. It's like praising rock stars who are mostly junkies for making music and yet offer nothing to your life.
Well said…unfortunately we live in a world where people want to worship those with more money and more power..it’s pathetic
OOF. 😮damn you win.
Big fan of 90s HBK here and I would be the last person to defend his past behavior. He had it all--incredible wrestling ability, looks, charisma, mic skills, the whole package--but his behavior out of the ring was atrocious. It's great that he stopped using and drinking, but for me, after he got religious, he wasn't believable any more. I don't know if he's sincere in his beliefs or it's just an act, but I know that it's extremely hard to fundamentally change who you are as a person.
I know because I've been around addicts/alcoholics since childhood. They generally don't get or stay sober unless they truly want it and are willing to get help and work at it. Most addicts use/drink to deal with emotional trauma and a lot of times, metal health issues and substance abuse go hand-in-hand. I have sympathy for people dealing with these issues but I don't excuse their behavior due to their issues. It's a factor, not an excuse. I myself have been dealing with mental health issues since adolescence and I've done therapy in order to change my behaviors and reactions to situations. It's not easy to change but it can be done...that said, again, I don't think that awful behavior exacerbated by substance abuse in anyone, famous or not, should be defended.
Most that are great in Pro Wrestling are 2 Faced.....I.E. "Great Politically"......They always said Nash was great Politically.
Shawn and Vince made sure Owen was not main event after what they did to Bret. HHH stole the game gimmick from Owen.
You do realise that ‘The Game’ gimmick came about from a worked shoot interview that Triple H did with Jim Ross on Heat the same night of Summerslam 99 right ?
Owen had tragically passed away months before that, the interview is on UA-cam so maybe watch it and you’ll let go of that silly myth.
And let's not forget how dirty HHH did Booker T and so many others too
@@My19812011 plenty of wrestler have said Owen came up with the game.
They had an issue with Bam Bam because he almost got Hall and Nash murdered by a gang at a minimart.
So the list of people "Buried" by the Kliq is:
Shane Douglas - who had a great career outside of WWE yet had no issues with the kliq
Bam Bam Bigelow - who according to Scott and Kevin their only issue with him was that he almost got them killed
Chris Candido - Shawn Michaels was sleeping with Sunny
Dustin Rhodes - who Scott didn't want to work with because of the overly sexualized tones of the goldust character.
Bob Holly - had his issues with the Kliq but has since made amends with HBK
Vader - was careless in the ring and wasn't really ever the same after Paul Orndorff beat Vader with his shower shoes
Men on a Mission - Mabel was wreckless who had already injured multiple people before he got buried
Davey Boy Smith - was never buried by the kliq but by his own actions
Jim Neidhart - Same as Davey Boy
Tatanka - claims that the burial by the kliq started around Wrestlemania 9 a full year before the Kliq formed
Owen Hart - wasn't directly buried by the kliq but more by his own refusal to stand up for the direction of his career
Bret Hart - refused to his job and drop the title to shawn burying himself. Especially considering he was the son of a promoter
Adam Bomb - similar to Tatanka except he had issues with razor and 1-2-3 kid
PCO - was buried for wanting to do the right thing
Long story short the Kliq only had issues with guys who couldn't work in the ring. That has been stated in numerous shoots by kliq members including one where Kevin Nash recalled Scott saying Bam Bam "(He) can go in the ring but he just can't ride with us."
> Long story short the Kliq only had issues with guys who couldn't work in the ring

Douglas getting buried by the cliq is the best thing to happen to him. 30 years later he can still talk about it.
Shane was doomed from the minute he walked into there, Kliq or no Kliq. It was the fact that he was the ECW guy that drank the Paul Heyman Kool-Aid and believed he was greater than he thought he was. Look at Raven years later when he went to work in WCW. He couldn't break into that Top 10.
Steve Austin drank that same Kool-Aid. So did RVD. Your point is moot.
i might have taken your point a bit seriously until you mentioned Raven. with all due respect your opinion is bad and wrong
@@firebug4916Steve Austin didn't drink anyone's kool aid. He was super secure with how talented he was. He didn't run to Vince. In fact Vince said they had to chase him down because he wasn't returning their calls.
What about Vader?
Shane, Holly, Dustin and Bam Bam... I don't think the Kliq really injured the industry by keeping these guys honest.
The first three were destined to be mid-carders. But Vader and Bam Bam could have been huge huge stars. Vader was anyway, but in WWE, could have been even greater.
@@mistermann3225 Bam Bam had his time with Hogan. Could have been the #2 or #3 babyface. By the time the Kliq's running wild, that time has passed. Dustin was friends with razor, Shane
Why didn’t they like Dustin ?
Because he was over and better than them
They had basically no issue with him, Razor just didn't want to work with him because of the overly sexual nature of the Goldust character.
They did. Shawn said he loved tearing down the house with him on live events. Unfortunately the Goldust character became too controversial and Dustin's drug habit got really bad by the late 90's

Shane is a great promo but let's be honest without Heyman he was one of the ECW guys that couldn't have gotten over anywhere else.
