Shane is definitely old school. He's one of the few older guys to talk about Buddy Rose. Buddy's biggest problem was the fact that he truly was a really nice guy when he wasn't wrestling. When I was younger, I got to meet him 6 different times at a place called Multnomah falls. Back in those days, while most of the other wrestlers were partying or looking for "rats" on a Sunday after the Saturday night shows in Portland, Buddy would be doing the waterfall route to relax. I met him one more time when I was in my early thirties at the same place. I was finally brave enough to ask him for a picture. So my mother has a Polaroid instamatic picture of me with "Playboy Buddy Rose" in her photo album in the same page as a photo of her with Dutch Savage and a very young Curt Hennig.

    • @actionsub

Speaking of Rose's ability to teach new wrestlers, he was the opponent for both Kevin and Kerry Von Erich's respective debut matches back when he was going under his real name, Paul Perschmann.

George South said in a shoot interview that he would go to the studio on interview days. The wrestlers had to spend must of the day at the studio. This was back when they had to do interviews for different markets. George didn't have to do any interviews. George would run errands, get food for the guys. He would charge them a few bucks and he said that he could pay his mortgage at the end of the tapings when he did that.

Douglas surprised me with one of his answers when asked about worst angle. Mentioning the ethnic/race angles? Shows me that I may not give Douglas enough credit for his morals. While I will never be a fan of Douglas' in ring work, I can say that this video did make me respect him a bit more as a man, not just a wrestler. Don't take that to mean that I don't have respect for what Douglas did during his career, I do, very much so because of how I viewed him during my personal golden years of wrestling. The 90's. To me Douglas was one of those B tier guys. Not a jobber, not a headliner. He was a guy who could have been the main heel in WCW or WWE had they chosen to go that route. Sadly, they didn't. Looking back? Maybe they both should tried something more with Douglas cause WCW died and WWE became stale and predictable.

The Eddie Guerrero JBL storyline was the most racist storyline of all time.
It wasn't a one shot tasteless shock value situation. It was offensive on a different level.

Worst storyline; Beaver Cleavage. Absolutely nothing good was going to come from that.
Second worst: Dean Douglas taking Horowitz and giving him the nerd character.
I love the racist gimmicks. Zen Coulter as a pseudo White nationalist and Dave Schultz, loved those guys even though they were heels.

The Red Rooster (Terry Taylor) was a redicuous gimmick.

You’re not gonna be a pro wrestler and get picked on over and over again. Not exactly a business of wimps
