I grew up old-school with all kind of noise in the kitchen and watching my grandmother put Budweiser beer in the pan cooking with me standing there as a child watching with lots of questions. She has passed and I would give anything to hear all that noise again. 🥰
Bless your heart for thinking of us folks who need no salt or greatly reduces salt content. I wish your counterparts were as thoughtful !! And yes I have requested low sodium recipes or alternative ingredient replacements from many of them to no avail. It is very difficult to find low sodium recipes that are good. Heart patients deserve tasty foods also. Thank you for all your good cooking, I really enjoy your channel. I do make adjustments myself when possible but sometimes it is impossible when certain mixes are used that have no sodium alternatives. Thank you again for sharing your tasty recipes.. Ive tried so many green bean casseroles. Never with cheese. Definitely going to use this recipe. Of all of life's challenges; someone has the audacity to complain about noise fry reynolds wrap, etc. No, Mrs. Me Me, don't stop your way of doing things. They definitely are not the majority. God bless

I just made green bean casserole the other day but basically how my mother made it - fresh beans, white sauce from scratch,Gruyère cheese, and caramelised onions with panko crumbs on top. I’m sure your recipe is a firm favourite with many but I prefer a less processed version😉 My mother would have been 90 this year but she died 30 years ago last month. She left the US to marry my dad in the UK and we ended up in NZ. We always had a fabulous vege garden and she always cooked completely from scratch so it’s interesting to see how the different generations do things.
In NZ my generation (I’m in my late 50’s) all tend to still cook from scratch and a lot of my friends still bottle fruit, freeze surplus and make our own sauces, pickles and relishes, and bake bread. We love it. I still enjoy seeing how other people do things.

BIG thank you to the shipping department, I got my cookbook very fast and in perfect shape!! I just love all the videos, makes me feel like I’m back in the kitchen with my momma and my grandma. I’ve lost both of those beautiful women, they’re in heaven now 😢, but your videos bring back so many memories!! I had a feeling while watching your videos that most of your recipes matched my own family recipes and I was right, so nice to have them all together! Funny story…I had this crazy idea to make a cookbook for my family for Christmas one year. When I started it I could hardly type, I was doing the one finger typing 😂. Mom helped me put it together, every chapter (soup, salad, desserts, etc) has lots of pictures of our family growing up. The front page is a letter to my grandparents thanking them for being together and giving all of us our family. I received lots of phone calls with crying folks on the line, I guess I touched their emotions ❤️. Everyone says it’s still their favorite cookbook so I did something right!!

Duke's mayo is the only mayo I can eat unless I make it myself. It's made with vinegar instead of lemon juice... I'm allergic to lemons. This recipe sounds delicious! Can't wait to try this version! 😊

MeMe, I do the same thing with the spoon. No worries, we try to get every last drop of that good food!
Also, I was wondering if you want to make this in the deeper dish you could microwave it for a few minutes before adding the toppings of cheese and fried onions. Or, you could bake it a bit with some foil on to cover before adding the toppings.

Yes I live up north and I seen the Dukes being loved by all the southern people so I sent Dukes a email to get it up north a few years ago and within about a year or two we got it! It's so much better than Hellmann's! Which is what our choice was. Plus it's less cost too!

I leave the fried onions off until the casserole is good and hit and cheeses melted. Then I top with the onions and they crisp and brown perfectly without over browning. And;I do use a 13x9 as you advise. We all learn together!😻🤗

I usually put the onions on in the last 5 or 10 minutes just to crunch them up and get hot and maybe put the cheese on half way through or start the casserole covered then uncover to brown the cheese and then the onions.
green bean casserole is more of a US thing. One of these days, I need to make it anyway! This version does look so good.

I’ve found that I cook mine without any topping until fully bubbly all the way thru. You’re right that the dish makes the difference. But once the inside is done you can add cheese and onions on top. Turns out perfectly
