- Final video in the build series of the 1:350 scale AW Studios vacuum formed kit of the TOS Romulan BOP. Video was put together over several months due to the computer downtime, I may be repeating myself a bit.
This part covers the finishing paint to decal application and base graphics.

I never finished my Bird of prey when I was a kid,so it's cool to see it finished.
I always thought it was a cool design from the original series era. Took a lot of work to make this one presentable. its not perfect, but presentable. thanks again for following along.
You did a great job with that old vacu formed kit. It looks great! My favorite ship from TOS besides the Enterprise. Your Big E looks great too.
Thank you Boyd, I've watched a lot of your vids, picked up a lot of tips and tricks from guys like you, Simon M., and Randy C. btw...I probably watch your enterprise build a dozen times to help me thru the TOS Enterprise. So thank you a lot for putting that type of content up.
...and yes, this is one of my favs from the original series. I'm happy with the way it turned out. not perfect, but presentable. thanks again.
oh and on the original filming model they had the bird painted on the bottom, and the tail fin painted, but the wing/engine support pylons were not painted on the top surface.
That was added on the line drawings that were produced in the early 1970's,
This mostly-built old AW kit has been staring at me from across the room for years now. Broke a pylon in intervening time, but easily fixed. My big hang up was not wanting to blemish the bird decal with a support hole. Running power into it was another stumbling block.
I admire the skill set it takes to do this type of thing. Great job, with no such skills I just bought a Tomy diecast metal TOS enterprise and I was thinking, don't I need a Romulan Bird Of Prey? And turns out there's a nice Diamond Select toy version that's really nice for the price. It's probably not to scale for the 1/350 scale Enterprise but it should work. It's as close as I'll get to having both.
Beautiful build (both models). I just bought the AW BOP kit but it doesn’t have the decal or the vinyl window ports. I was going to see if I could track down the maker or scan the Round 2 and enlarge/edit to make it work and print my own.

I bought decal sheeting to print on for this set of decals for the 1/650 and 1/200 scale models. If I cant get them to come out right I might go to a graphic designer to see if they can make a better set.
Looks awesome bud! Really looks good next the Enterprise! Too bad about the weapon lights! So, what's next?
Thank you. I'm working on my 1:350 scale kit bash of the USS Piri Reis stellar cartography star ship, which I'm close to painting and should be putting out a vid blog here by the weekend. I'm also working on a 3D printed Bubble Ship from Oblivion which has some challenges of its own.

Is that Enterprise an 18" AMT kit?
No, this is a garage vacuum formed kit that was put out about 10 yrs ago
I was wondering because the measurements that I got for the 1/350 warbird makes it seem to large in that vacuform kit. I had seen that kit some years ago.
Now there are also some disputes over the actual intended scale of the actual filming model vs the line drawings of the early 1970's and as far as I know Mr. Wah Ming never stated a scale for it after he destroyed the filming model and washed his hands of the whole matter.
So I have a vid discussing the size of the 3 ships in comparison to each other, and the Romulan is somewhat smaller than how it has been portrayed on screen.@@lewilsons
