The Klingon bird of prey was the only Star Trek model I ever bought. It's the single coolest looking ship in the entire Star Trek franchise. Thank you for making this video for us to enjoy!
I had a bunch of model kits when I was young. The Enterprise-A, the Reliant, the Excelsior, the Enterprise-D, the Enterprise-E, the Romulan Warbird, the Ferengi Marauder, the Klingon Bird-of-Prey, the Klingon K'tinga-class cruiser, the Klingon Vor'cha-class cruiser, and the Cardassian Galor-class warship.
I love the design of this ship. Every game I play as the Klingons, I always play and keep the bird of prey. No matter how much the ship puts me in a disadvantage over time. Its just too cool of a ship to want anything else from that faction of ships.
I found some full-color deck plans for the B'Rel-class which revealed that the "bridge" that Kruge operated from was actually the ship's attack center, just below the main bridge. It's used by the captain usually during dogfights that require fancy tactical maneuvering and ambushes. Just my head-canon, though. It certainly makes more sense than the Vulcans redesigning the bridge to make it look like another Klingon design. 🖖😎👍
Same, the ships built and manned by the various houses having different designs for certain sections fits really well. Along with the different weapon styles like Klaa's periscope and movable disruptor cannons setup for his BoP.
The Klingons always had some respect for the federation considering they alone control the time crystals and are aware of the events that must take place. Makes me wonder if the Monks were aware that one of their birds of prey would one day help save the federation and how much of a role they played to ensure that the federation and Klingon empire would become allies in the near future after Praxis.
Quick question.... at what point was cloak device turned back on for The Bounty? When it crashed landed at end of Star Trek 4, the whale probe had sapped/dampened all power on Earth. Thank you.
Have you ever gone through the Haynes Klingon Bird-of-Prey's WorkShop Manual that was created by Rick Sternbach & Ben Robinson? I really love the details they go through, you should reference it. The major difference is that the Warp Drive System is done with "Warp Wings" and not your "Aft Warp Emitter" system. The "Aft Warp Emitter" system is more prevalent with Cardassian designs and the famous "Defiant-Class".
It's interesting that they're multiple origin stories for this class of vessel. I like the design, even adapting it for my own work. I even added the bit that the design group. Responsible for adapting the design went over a dozen prototypes and pre-production ships before going with 4 main variants as the final versions to be used.
Well i like the bird of prey because it can fly on planets atmospheres and land like a bird has well as take off too while the Enterprise can not do this because it only runs on space or orbits around planets ill go for the bird of prey as my favorite for now
🖖😎👍Very cool and very nicely well done and executed and informatively explained in every detail way shape and form provided on this format and subject matter on the B'rel class Klingon Bird of Prey indeed Sir; But originally the design was meant to be a more upgraded version of the Romulan Bird of Prey and not Klingon for ST3 the Search for Spock but unfortunately the powers that be at paramount in charge of the production thought it would truly be better to change the script and use the Klingons instead of the Romulans for that movie instead still utilizing the same ship model for it, Just thought you should know that!🤔.
I already do know that! Though you sort of have it wrong... Take a look at my Back Trek videos on the Historical Overview of Trek and I go through that, and many other fascinating details of Trek! Of course though, it doesn't matter what it had been intended to be, in the end, canon has proven it to simply be a Klingon Design! See Star Trek Enterprise! Take care :)
Can you go back to including in the video title that these are Beta Canon videos? I found that really helpful in knowing what to watch vs what to skip.
No sorry, going forward this will be how it is, however, you can tell the Truth OR Myth Beta Canon episodes by the thumbnail. Truth OR Myth BETA are the only thumbs that do not contain the Series title in them! Back Trek, Does That Make Sense etc will all have their titles displayed in the thumb!
The B'Rel class of ship is... I suppose less a 'class' and mroe a ship frame style. Then again Klingons tendto have only a few roles that they want filled and honestly? These guys work great for wolfpack harassers even without the cloak. With the cloak? Refit the internals as technology progresses and good to go. Klingons seem to favor duribility and function over form (and a ton of red lighting.) so it genuinely isn't that surprising that a ship from the tail end of Kirk's era is in service well into Picard's and possibly beyond. I wouldn't want to serve on one, but it's a respectable ship.
Hmm. Nothing about the multi position wings. Deny any Romulan connection? Typical Klingon fan boy. lol Actually, don't know why Chang's ship was the only one like it. I can understand the disruptors taking the energy away from the cloak but why photon torpedoes? The only energy needed for them would be to actually launch and even then, really? The antimatter is already in the torpedo and they appear self powered.
I'm glad they've kept the "decloak to fire" limitation. It keeps the cloaking device from being too overpowered, even though -- as you point out -- the limitation hasn't made a lot of sense since "Balance of Terror", where the ship's main gun was incredibly power-hungry.

It was one of the first things I bought when I received my first paycheck, one of the best R$99 I've ever spent.
The constitution class refit entered chat

I've loved it ever since seeing ST IV as a kid.

Eaglemoss made some beautiful models of the B8rd Of Prey, my favorite is the XL size.
Excellent video and really like the visuals of the model! :) Always loved the efficiency of the design and abilities!
I like the idea that the bridges aren't standard because they are based on house or something of that nature

I always look forward to these videos

The HMS Bounty is my favorite ship in the entire Trek franchise, bar none 😁😍
The BoP has some of the most beautiful video sequences in The Search for Spock and A Voyage Home.
H.M.S. BOUNTY is now in the fleet museum.

The Haynes manual is absolutely brilliant.
I adored the whole "The exterior's gonna look the same, but the interior depends on the Great House."
This one and the D7 are my favorite klingon ships
Thank you very much for this nice Infromtionen video
I actually have one... easy to fly and it's cloaking device keeps prying eyes from discovering the parking paddock.
The CGI model in this video is _beautiful_!

my favorite sci-fi ship
My favorite sci-fi ship.
if you now tell the differences to the K'Vort class it would be a perfect vid ;)
Love the original ship and size. Hate that it has been copy paste resized into different classes even though it’s the same model.
“ Awesome “ “ War “ “ Ship “ “ Very “ “ Deadly “
Indeed ;)
perfect
lovely ship but i favor the kvort duo the more aggressive look with wings up
I want to make this in Starfield
My favourite
