That is an extremely cool ship! I love the originality you put into it. Fits perfectly. I'm going to have to go back and see more build updates from this one. Fantastic model build!
The ship looks excellent! Well done. But that buzzing sound is a killer. I assume it's the motor that rotates the spinner. Maybe a nano arduino would work better? Other than that, you did an excellent job building this. 👍
its funny that the motor didn't make 1/2 that amount of noise while I was bench testing it. the plastic seems to amplify the vibration. I've tried sanding down the stem of the spinner in the nacelle and it helped a little bit. Thanks for watching. L,
@@lewilsonsMotors usually do make noise which is why I suggested an Arduino programed to turn on a series of lights in a constant rotation. I enjoyed your video and you really did do a great job on the ship.
I've always had a soft spot for the uni-nacelled ships. The USS Kelvin is one of my favorites. Great work. Would there really be a need for windows for the neck attachment to the warp nacelle or am I overthinking it?...: )
hmmm....if we look closely at the TOS Enterprise there are 4 darkened windows in the Nacelle pylons...just sayin 🙂Maybe those engineers wanna look out a window from time to time 😀. Is there a need for them? Builders discretion.
Cool looking. I thought a warp engine would sound a little more space-age. Maybe a larger 24 motor running without gears and only running on 6v would get you the speed and the silence. What about those cheap jewelry mini turntables?
the size of the motor and shaft was key to fitting the existing model piece in the nacelle. I didn't want something spinning around at 1780 rpms 🙂 this motor was turning slow enough to make the spinner obvious that it was moving. and on another note, the motor didn't make that much noise until it went into the nacelle housing.
@@lewilsons Well, yes. you've effectively created a resonant chamber, similar to a musical instrument. You can buy sound deadening fabric for use in cars. Might work.
Very good job but I have one question. (As a TOS fan) Would a primary and secondary hulled ship have only one nacelle? The Scout and Destroyer class were the only ships I knew of with one warp nacelle and they only had primary hulls. Beautiful work here. You have a skill, that is for sure.
Hi and thanks, my thoughts that went into this ships design as a star charting ship was that it would need the secondary hull to house and power the additional sensor pods for extremely long range scanning, house the larger deflector dish and have a shuttle bay to launch scout missions, etc. while trying to keep that TOS look. I didn't think that just a saucer with a deflector dish attached to the the bottom of the sensor dome would suffice like the destroyer class...🙂 If we really want to get technical...Rodenberry and Jefferies had a mandate early on in the shows development, that all warp ships in the Trek universe would have two engines spaced apart to create the warp field between them. The fan base and later on with Next gen. altered that mandate and designed ships like the destroyer...ooohh and lets not forget about JJ totally letting loose with the Kelvin in the opening shots of the reboot which threw that dual engine theory out the window. So maybe the engineers found a better way to generate the warp field, you know they're always tinkering with stuff.. 🙂 Thanks for watching. L.
IDK, maybe the same reason we invented a Prius? If a dedicated star ship was sent out to map out a new star system, would it need higher warp capabilities....maybe something that uses less energy but still gets around fairly quick.
Amazing work. I was born in 62 so I'm a bit of a Trekkie.
Now THAT'S Unique!! Love the Build!

thank you
This is a great project and you are very skilled.
That's a very nice Build congratulations
A great looking ship, thanks for sharing.
WOW. It's a really cool model 👍
Peri reis the irony is not lost.😊
Really nice, super original.
I really like the opaque white windows. That buzz is a buzz-kill, though. Model on!

That's very cool dude, yes the buzzing is annoying but in space no-one can hear you scream right, so they're not likely to hear a buzzer.

@@lewilsons I think it is a great ship design, please do not get me wrong. I just did not know if it was a Canon ship or not. You do great work.
@@Laceykat66 Its all good. Thank you for the compliment, I tried to make the ship feel that it belonged in the TOS era. Thanks for watching.
so an inverse version of the Kelvin (or Hermes/Saladin)? Very Cool. 13:05 Aft Torpedos or just probes/something science macguffin?
Consider it an upside down Kelvin with extra sensor probes. A Starship dedicated for nothing but Star mapping.
I wonder why STARFLEET would bother with just one nacelle?

Well done, but it does frighten and confuse me.
Let's see a viddie of stargazer series it looked dumb....
