Thank you Strippin, DansGaming and itmeJP
Cohh now has a video out about how NG+ is not needed to be rushed.
Was not expecting a show, pleasantly surprised!
Same here!
Been great having Dan on so much
Dan’s just great
Right? Ive never watched Dropped Frames before Sam and Dan came on. Itll be strange to see the next episode with just the normal intended cast lol
Love seeing Dan and Strippin, two of the Greats. I miss Co optional.. but with Dropped frames and Skillups Fps podcast are just as good. Good time for gaming
BIG SECOND on the Co-Optional Podcast, Dropped Frames is great though. I struggle to get into Friends Per Second, it doesn't seem as layed back, they tend to waffle as game critics and not players of the game. Personal bugbear too, some of the members have ridiculous spot lights on them, its soo bright and very off putting. Like chill out and relax as friends, this isn't the world news.
For people with storage issues your room in the lodge has a safe with unlimited storage
For people paying crash test dummies for Bethesda "this product is not finishing and it won't be finished for next 3 years" have fun alpha/beta testing yo all😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣👍
I think big issue about Bethesda's UI isn't just that they're not that great at it, they won't bother tailoring one for PC. Their philosophy for the longest time was to prioritise design of EVERYTHING towards consoles - UI, favourites, controls. number of keybinds etc. and it's just ported pretty much as is with minimal changes to PC. Bethesda just doesn't care.
More AC tips for newcomers:
- Some missles are classified as "pincers", because they pause / have an arc trayectory before hitting so you can use them for pressure tactics. The idea is that you get in range of your other weapon, trigger the pincers, charge in and slash or shoot as the pincers hit in order for them to track the pressured enemies. I used them for a while and they are definitely viable with practice.
- Weapons show their "Ideal" and "Effective" ranges in the extended Stat section:
Ideal is minimal chance to ricochet; the further from it you go, the chance to ricochet increases. Ricochet Hits can still be valuable though, while they inflict a minimum amount of damage and stagger they also briefly pause your target's stagger bar from draining.
- In the shop, press Square to show a brief video of how a weapon fires. This will show all firing modes on any weapon. Good fast way to get an idea how long something takes to charge or how a missile will fly before you purchase it.
- You can change the name of your AC on the AC Data screen. By default it is named "Loader 4".
strippin really is british zeke
Thank you for posting this! I was only able to catch a short portion of today's show.
That "zeke being the leader's gimp" came out of nowhere wtf .
Can't believe JP fired Cohh and Zeke like that
On the subject of frustratingly limited storage space:
I would have put money on the fact that humans in the Starfield universe would have developed one key technology: "Material Recyclers" (similar in function to those featured in the video game "Prey" from 2017).
Seems like converting a room full of miscellaneous BS items to nice, manageable, and useful 'mats' would make both player *and* developer happy.
I guess there's no recycling in the future ; )
It's not only slow at the beginning, it's bad. Literally two main story quests in a row are: Go to cave. Grab the magic stone.
It gets better later, sure, but first 30% of main story is not written well and not planned well.
JP and Strippin should have asked if Dan was excited for Akuma. That Dan Tekken 7 Akuma fight was classic.
Man the whole "this game kinda sucks until NG+" is really making me reconsider my purchase.
Seems like I might have been wrong? Was told not to worry about it after the fact haha
Having to Spend 20+ hrs hoping that the game will play better doesn't sound like a good time. Its harder to take the game seriously when I see the linear dialogue, they really did there best to give you the illusion of choice but only 1 option pushes the conversation.
Under the waves is a game I had wishlisted a long time ago, it didn't come out of nowhere :D I watched 2 trailers prior to release in big videogame shows. Hearing Dan's experience makes me incredibly excited
Thanks for uploading this so fast!
Thank you for another episode of the podcast!!
Really enjoyed this talk
2:29:30 Absolutely wild Larian literally thought of EVERYTHING
It's not like they got years of feedback from community while in early access.
Starfield has been one of those games where tip videos were actually useful, countless things I was doing the hard way or not realizing I could do.
Kinda funny to me hearing the whole least buggy release thing because I played Skyrim and fallout 4 and starfield all at release and for me this release has been more buggy and with more severe bugs than any bethesda release i've participated in. Skyrim and Fallout 4 never broke my quest lines or broke my save files but this one did.
skyrim had one at start of game after the first dragon kill not being able to progress the questline. i hit it 4 times before it worked. saved before knowing it was coming the second time. had to beat dragon 4 times to be able to trigger
if you played skyrim at release and you say this was less buggy than starfield, you're either an idiot or a liar LOL
My two favourite guests back at it again. Great show as always.
I've been watching Joseph Anderson's playthrough of Starfield and he just...took his helmet off and has no problems breathing in zero atmosphere. He tracked it back to some weird interaction with Airlocks getting flags confused so if he goes through an Airlock in a specific order he can just run around in vacuum naked.
Oh? I think there's some goofy mechanic involving either;
A) You can unequip your suit while keeping the helmet on and your character won't have the helmet on.
B) Outfits like the hazmat seem to work as intended, so it might be a resistance stat.
I see now why Cohh isnt on this episode. He stated that he does NOT recommend rushing story to get to NG+ as NG+ does not add enough to justify that.
Yeah well he should have told the rest of them, because now they are all making the same mistake lol.
That moment on 1.41 min or so... Fred again.. - Marea (We’ve Lost Dancing) :D
Thanks for the main story tip - I never even finished the main story in Oblivion or Skyrim despite playing almost everything else in both games!
Starfield ia a 7/10 game, everyone knows it. Might get better over time, when Bethesda fixes the bugs, releases dlc etc.
Great show JP!
Got my tickets for TGS can't wait.
I'm only a couple of hours into the game, but for a game about space, spaceflight seems to be wildly underdeveloped. Really disappointed by it. You barely even actually fly your ship it seems. I was hoping for something approaching simplified NMS but it's not even close.
Also, the inciting incident felt really strange and rushed and horribly explained. Hey new guy, go mine those rocks, alright, now go extract that artifact. Alright, now go join this secret society. You can take my ship and my robot! Now kill these pirates!
I feel like Bethesda tried to do Obsidian's New Vegas intro but didn't understand what made it good.
LOved podcast
There was reportedly one death at Burning Man. Now, Zeke is a survivor. So I think he is somehow the most likely to get out. While he is also a ball of chaos, making it seem apropos for him to be the single death in minorly apocalyptic event at some point. 🤷🏼
Starfield is about a 6-7/10 atm, will get better over time. Great podcast!
i don't doubt it has great stuff in it like other bethesda games. They just know they can rush a product out and get people to pay full price for a 70 to 80percent finished game and let players do the testing and modders fix the worst issues. saves them a ton of money and gets the product out the door a year or so faster. they have done it 3 releases in a row. well 4 now with starfield.
@@kyletotten1685I’m 25 hours in and the best thing I’ve come across is a plotline where you go undercover.
@@kyletotten1685it’s been the norm for many years at this point, if it works they’ll always do it. Of course there are some outliers but even bg3 had terrible bugs when they tried their best for release. It seems a lot more complicated than just being finished nowadays.
@jaleshere there are bugs and there isn't even trying to make a complete game. Bethesda doesn't give a fk. Larian bugs weren't bad at all. I have played 100ish hours so far. And the amount of bugs I have encountered are less than the 1 hour I watched of jp and 2 hours of cohh playing. Not even a comparison. And still isn't an excuse for either. Larian tries. Bethesda knows people will eat whatever shit they give the fans. It just backfired more this time.
@@kyletotten1685 Yeah I also had 0 bugs in my 250 hrs in BG3, was just trying to bring in a comparison.
I need to watch strippin's playthroughs
Willy's Wonderland is legit a great movie. I watched it back to back with PIG. They are vastly different movies but they're the perfect compliment.
i don't know who said to rush the main story first, and i would like to know who it is, so i can avoid their suggestions in the future.
Wasn't it someone at Bethesda?
RIP volition man. creators of the greatest old school space dog fight sim descent freespace o7
There's definitely a large group of people who are being very loud with their blind praise of the game too.
Pog New show episode
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WILL PEOPLE STOP SAYING THE GAME OPENS UP AT NEW GAME PLUS, IT DOESNT ITS EXACTLY THE SAME GAME YOU JUST HAVE YOUR SKILLS AT THE START OF THE GAME
Happy that I can catch DF on YT at least.
The reaction to the ign 7/10 is so funny because as someone who has loved Bethesda for a while. I see a 7/10 nod and think "yeah thats probably about right". They're not pwrfect games, they've often very flawed. I love tha games yo death but im not surprised that some people don't think its a 10/10 masterpiece
The problem is that the IGN scale is tipped really hard, they give some super shitty games higher scores. I'm not one that cares, just adding perspective :)
The IGN gag is more akin to them giving a lot of games the 7/10 review, no?
Sarah is such a buggy companion I love her
First thing I did in Starfield is: fix the fov, shitty UI and purple filters and other basic stuff.
Second thing - I cheated and increased my weight limit to 2000 - Bethesda can lose me with that weight limit shit, I'm so over it.
Did you use a mod for the FOV? The usual console command didn't work for me.
Bring out the Zeke! But the Zeke is sleeping?!
Morrowind UI was closest to Baldur's Gate 3 and their best UI ever XD XD XD
Are all the planet's barren rocks or do they have some with plants and such? From what i have seen so far its a bunch of different colored sand and rocks.
There are lots of different plants and animals and various biomes. Some really pretty places to set up your ideal outpost if that's your thing, just have to roam around and find what you like - there are a LOT of planets/moons and most of them are, as irl, pretty boring.
@@oplawlz thanks
Great looking game
I would be interested to see Rami’s interpretation, opinion and insight on both Baldurs & Starfield
Agreed. Rami is always a top guest for me regardless of having a specific topic in mind. I'd love to hear an industry perspective around these two games.
Also Armored Core!
I’m genuinely glad there are people who find bugs funny because I just don’t lol
They're funny when they're occasional and harmless like an npc melting through the floor of your spaceship or the npc turning into a ventriloquist or the npc floating off into space. When they block progression or break your save file they're not so funny anymore.
Graphical bugs are funny and physics glitches. Quests bugging out or items getting stuck etc. and game crashing is not.
All the modding for Starfield is very cool, but does anyone else find it sort of offensive that Bethesda seems to rely on the community to bring their game out of 2017?
riot doesnt care about smurfs, they actively support them through their content creators in games like Valorant. Pretty much every content creator is playing with smurfs from the eSports scene as its more beneficial to be a content creator than go competitive in Valorant.
Yeah, I bought the 99$ ps+ extra and once my ps+ is up next year I'm going back to the base version. 30 fuckign dollars? nah fuck that bullshit.
I never cheat with the carrying limit and in starfield it would be just dumb, everything has high value, high weight.. my ship at lvl 10 (yeah..no rerolling but just derping around with like 24 hours played) can carry 1000 and I can't fill 5 crew slots because the basic skill gives the ability to have 3 members.. but I do the other bad thiong, savescum pickpocketing
This is pretty great episode honestly. Maybe it just a change of pace I guess? well... and the other 2 hosts listen to JP all the way.
Starfield I think I will buy 6-12 months later when the mods and patches come out for cheap.
The combat is pretty much the same old, same old.
Imagine a Modern Akuma...don't need to after 5+ years Tekken 7 Akuma whopping ass. With or without T7 assistant inputs Akuma was literally in every top 8 since the console version dropped.
Balance issues, general QoL issues, waiting for mods to recreate the game. Sounds like Bethesda allright.
5/10 generic looter shooter with artifact fetch quest simulator as main story, sadly loadingscreen and fast travel frequency kill immersion so does the below average dialogue and npc's. if you need an 10000kg inventory mod day 1 you know, they fucked up. Trait restrictions, especially the ranking up traits farming feels bad.
Very hard is so funny because you watch soneone play the intro, tgey get yo the first fight and they're basically a spectator, you cant kill anyone because you do so little damage
Oh, I've been playing the monster hunter go. I thought it was out. I guess I have early access. It's alot more accessible then pokemon go. You can easily walk and play alot safer then Pokémon go. You just tap to hit and swipe to dodge. And you can save boss fights on a walk so you can sit down and do those later.
A lot of things in starfield are mediocre at best , but somehow i cant stop playing it. Its just fun doing quests and exploring. I hope mods/dlc can fix most of the issues.
JP didn't have a rogue in their party in BG3? He said you couldn't steal shit in the game? I stole literally everything and sold the stuff back, stole stuff off vendors too.
Okay, I am enjoying Starfield even though it feels like a game from 2010 and I have an issue with people being totally okay with Bethesda jank and not holding them to a higher standard like with other developers (CDPR) and the writing in Starfield is absolute dog water, but I'm still having fun. However, is no one at all thrown off by how nobody in Starfield has a phone, Bethesda seem to have literally done the "fallout in space" thing even with the gameplay. Because you still have to run everywhere to hand in quest when IRL we can communicate into deep space so wtf can't I just call a dude and say, "yo i delivered that thing pay me" like in Cyberpunk? Also, the cities have no cars or any other means of transport except spaceships (surely not everyone can afford one of them to get everywhere) and trains and there are only one major city on each star system which aren't that big and don't have streets or roads or anything leading into or out of the city.
Is all this just me? Is there an explanation for this?
They barely got ladder animations in the game take it easy
Imagine how jank the cars would be, this game engine cannot handle that at all. (The mods for fallout 3,4 showed that)
Omg thank you I was wondering the same thing like why can’t I just call people from my ship to turn in these damn quests. Half the quests are just go to another planet talk to someone and get something go back to other planet talk to someone get xp do new quest. Like just cut out all the loading screens and let me do a holo call or something.
@@katarjinI'll always give respect to Fallout: New Vegas. I don't know what it offered that Bethesda doesn't, but a modder added vehicles and injected a physics engine just so it interacted with the world a little more believably.
It's not a real bethesda game until there's a nude mod.
Im glad they are enjoying the game l. I wonder if Sam would gel more with these games if he didnt play the exact same character in every game.
Also protip for the boys. As long as you are in space you dont need to ever enter a menu to travel from planet to planet and you dont need to take off to set travel routes and initiate travel via menu just hit f to pull up the scanner and lock on to travel there. Once you realize these things it makes the menu hell much less hellish.
Fact that bugs get celebrated in Bethesda games is why they don't even bother making good games. Why bother making a good inventory if mediocrity is expected anyway.
They don't make games they make frameworks for modders and let them do all the work.
@@Keldrath i hope you mean it sarcastically and are not defending it.
@@Huckleberry42 I mean it literally and im not defending it it is what it is.
And it’s bullshit because other games get torn apart for the most innocuous of bugs. But Bethesda it’s “hurrrduuurrrr it cool and funny”.
@@WonOneWun "it's a feature xD"
Hot take: Lockpicking mini-games are trash. Just let me press a button and open the lock if I have the prerequisite skill. There has never been a lockpicking/hacking mini-game that doesn't get repetitive and boring after doing it for the hundredth time.
There's a mod for that. I'm the opposite though, 20 years later and I still find the old elder scrolls/fallout lockpick system satisfying :)
Bethesda is a lazy company, I could spend hours talking about the crap things in this game but I am having fun. This could be a classic if they'd spent the time to do it all properly but even though they had the time the whole thing is half assed with a "that'll do" attitude. Coming off the back of playing BG3 where they consistantly went above and beyond my expectations this did the opposite but once again, I'm really enjoying it.
I dont understand how this game is scoring as high as it is. Its a 6 or 7. I would return it if I could.
Because people give Bethesda a pass on a bunch of shit they fail other games and game devs for for some reason I don’t understand.
Sony is crazy. I've been done with playstation for a while until they approve of Days Gone 2
My two favorite game developers Bethesda and Square Enix released major games this year, and one of them let me down. It was not Bethesda.
They should not have given every streamer the game a week before everyone else. Everyone I know besides cohh trashes Starfield and how bad it is. I was excited to play but now I really couldn't care less and won't be buying it. Which is hilarious the most anticipated game of the year is bad.
The AI is just as bad as F4, yall just dont have the perks required for sneak
i've spent about 20+ hours in ""Starfield" so far and it's been the smoothest BGS game i've played. only encountered small, funny bugs/clipping occasionally, nothing egregious. i'm enjoying it for what i expected it to be - a mix of "Fallout" & "Mass Effect", and it's delivering just that... also shout out to Zeke & Zekette out at Burning Man, hopefully they get home safe & Zeke doesn't lead a Lord of the Flies situation 😂😂
parent perk? 2% of your income goes to them? nah, fuck that shit they should be sending me money. lol
One of the rare cringe moments for me here since im just now listening to the podcast and they obviously spread the "lie" that you should finish the mainstory.. just two days later everyone seems to regret having listened to it
Calling it a lie is disingenuous. Peter Hines, the head of publishing for Bethesda, publicly stated Starfield “doesn’t even really get going” until after the main story mission is completed.
You can fast travel to your ship off load your stuff then go back to collect more. Part of the allure of a bgs game is the items stay in the world after you leave the area. Stop being encumbered :)
Is it people finding the gameplay boring the ones that can't accept not all games are meant for everyone, or the diehards that insist the game is fun even when others say it's dull? Just today in another streamer's chat someone was insisting there's nothing wrong with the game despite mixed reviews and was acting like opinions aren't valid if they're based on gameplay and reviews they've seen. I mean, how else does he expect players to make an informed decision? Cohh has finished the main story, there's obviously enough gameplay out there already to make a decision.
A lot of people were looking forward to Starfield and are frustrated that it looks pretty dull. Not every game has to be made for everyone but let's not pretend Bethesda games are generally niche products, they tend to make games for the masses and it seemed like they intended this game to be the same. It doesn't mean others can't enjoy it, but neither POV is wrong.
I still think 88 is high, though, if we're being real I think Andromeda was a better game and it was rated low 70s. I didn't personally have many bugs in my playthrough, the combat was good and the story was better even if "meh" by Bioware standards. Starfield is still fairly buggy with more frustrating aspects to it, but they seem to get a pass because Bethesda games are usually more buggy. Not a particularly objective way to give a score.
The game is an utter garbage, complete regress over all previous bethesda titles.
I can understand dan with hte saints row reboot lack humor. sure it had it's moments of humor but lack of gameplay? did we play the same game? it had by far the best saitns row gameplay of all 5+ games.
Nope.
If people bring up not being able to leave the planet and explore the whole planet.
I would tell them: You can either have a fairly bug free game or you can leave and explore the planet.
I would take bug free over not being able to leave the Fallout 4 vault cause of memory overload and crashing on release. Or a month later, still couldn't reliably enter and leave Diamond City. Loved FO4 but dang so many bugs.
You have to understand the marketing of this game was u basically could do everything u can do in no man's sky and more its not doing anywhere close to that fhats what people are disappointed about. And then for a game like that it shouldn't have loading screens and it def should look way better graphically than it does. The game is not trash by any means but it's also not the game they advertised and you have admit that more lies from Microsoft
The excuses for this game is crazy. Bugs or features? The expectation for Bethesda really are low huh, people got so conditioned that their games are buggy that they would rather have a Fast Travel/Loading screen/Menu Simulator than a space travel/exploration which is an already existing feature in other games but because "bugs" its ok.
OR have 20-30 full planets instead of hundreds of pointless ,empty wastes of drive space.
Most people who dislike Starfield don't know why, so they're incoherent. Think for a moment about how Skyrim starts. You're about to be executed. You meet the rebel leader. A dragon shows up, kills everyone. You escape, you kill a dragon, you absorb it's soul. Then you're sucked into a conflict between an Empire that oppresses the religious, and the rebels who are very racist. Epic start, well written conflict, sprawling guild questlines. People hate on Starfield because it's not Skyrim. It's just more of Fallout 4, which also wasn't well written (though it still had much better presentation than Starfield).
I like it but what I don't like is progress blocking bugs and broken save files and a game that feels and plays just like fallout 4 a game that came out 8 years ago without the open world and filled with recycled assets including entire bases filled with soulless enemies and duct tape and loading screens behind loading screens. It's just not a AAA 70-100 dollar game. When that's what they are giving you and that's what it costs it feels like a scam and they're treating you like a sucker and they are and you are if you reward them for it.
I'll still have my fun and enjoy the game but not for that price it just isn't that kind of game. It's another bethesda game and bethesda games just arent worth that much anymore. Honestly never were this is the most they've ever charged for one. I'll play it on gamepass it's worth 10 dollars for a month at least.
"the parents trait is the coolest thing i've seen" is the dumbest thing I've heard this week
the drain on money is minimal, but you get 88% of Bethesda's budget in this trait
@@Barbabonbonwhat happens if you remove the perk (telling your parents you don't want to pay?) Do they just move out and stop existing?
It's also interesting to note Valve is going to stop outside profits from Dota 2 this September. If you know about custom games, most of the popular ones have paid systems to Chinese services (like Paypal here.)
That and the team working on Dota 2 said they'll be working more on small game changes without worrying about TI.
I'll be patiently waiting to see what mods come out for Starfield. Whether it's UI mods like you guys were talking about to fully working vehicles (with extra storage.) I think some voodoo magick someone will figure out is 'full planet exploration' where instead of needing to land it'll just load you into a seperately generated instance and recall the last cell.
Either way, game is alright but I'm getting flustered like I did with Oblivion rather than Skyrim or Fallout 3/4. Gunplay might be the most improved thing.
Sam out here as literal one punch man, because he can only punch one time before running out of breath. XD
