Dukie wasn’t a bitch at all. He knew he couldn’t fight, he didn’t try to act tough. And he stood his ground even when the odds were stacked against him. He didn’t have any cash to flash. He offered the group the only currency he had honesty and friendship. Mike recognized and respected him for that

Yes he left to that teacher for the money because he was an addict at that point. He was loyal and honest to his close friends. In their narrow world it's a difference but to someone who looks at it as black or white, right or wrong it doesn't make sense.
I like how Michael has no remorse when it comes to people fucking wit Dukie , they're truly brothers from different mothers.

The Corner was brilliant. Got both box sets of these 2 tremendous shows. Never knew that about the actors playing opposite roles. Knew they did but didnt realise they had to swap allegiances.
When Michael asked Spider the first time why you didn’t tell him he was being nice. Then Spida tried to test Mike by saying “huh?” Acting stupid. Then Michael quickly checked him so that he knows not to fuck with him. Those are the moments in life when one little reaction can change how a person sees you from that moment. If Michael had repeated himself another time Spider would have lost respect for him.

Honestly, the ending for Dukie was the saddest ending to a show. He was a good kid, but, just never had a chance, broke my heart to watch that ending.
Hell yeah. Michael new the likely outcome for Dukie when he asked him to get dropped off at that destination. Smh!
That's one of the many, many reasons why the Wire is the best show out there. It's so real. Not everyone has a happy ending. Dukie wasn't built for the streets. He wasn't built for that life. He tried. In the end, with Mike gone, Randy gone, all the others gone he had nothing. No friends, no family. So he went were he could make a little money and someone looked out for him. It wasn't much but it was something.
Yo Dookie was so much taller then all the other kids in season 5. He hit a mean growth spurt.

I used to know a kid just like dukie. He was such a good kid. Never bothered anybody, never picked fights, wasnt big enough to defend himself and was always respectful to everyone. He had a big heart. Dc is an unforgiving place man...We used to walk home together everyday because the corner boys always left me alone because I had wrecked each one when they weren’t in a group. The one day I couldn’t walk him home, they tried to rob him and he got shot dead. 12 years later, I still cry every night after unwinding for work over that. I wanted to kill each and everyone of those animals. Even tooled up and made a plan to catch them lacking. Probably would’ve got killed myself or spent my adulthood locked up over this but the crew they had beef with killed them that week first. Apparently I wasn’t the only one who thought that my friend didn’t deserve what happened to him.

D'angelo wasn't built for it either. He couldn't see that Orlando had a connection for weight and was trying to sell in Avon's turf by talking to Avon's family. Despite being a clean front. And D'angelo never suspected that Avon would be pissed? He also got caught on the Reup that Omar stole. He also killed the guy in the towers and almost went to jail for it. He had no head for the game.

Think of it from a real world perspective, how would you feel if someone who didn't work as hard as you, and is your manager because he's the owners bestfriend? Nobody respected him for that reason alone. Mike had Dukie working/running the corner for him, when he has no experience in the game. When that didn't work out, Mike had him do nothing but stay home and take care of Bug (playing Mike's lil bitch). Everything was handed to him instead of earned.

Imagine a world where Michael grew up away from all this shit. He had the natural abilities and attitude to accomplish some really cool shit. This culture just continues to persist because no one wants to confront it. The leadership of the black community is making too much money off victim culture. People in these comments be talking like these characters are real people, Spider script says he back down to Mike, a ex cop writing a tv series is a fictional portrayal of real life because in real life Michael's loyalty to Duke and the snitch would have come back to haunt him instantly and in a major way. The same way these people talk about Omar, the most unrealistic character in tv history. The real life person that the character was based off of wasn't gay and almost always ran with a crew not some one man invisible army, most people are sheep, that's why the quality of music and film constantly deteriorating because sheep is going to support it regardless. The Wire was still the best show ever, it was no need to Hollywood up certain characters though, especially if they are based on real people

@@tonejah4180 It's just "unspoken" and remember all of them are the same age bracket, they already know how Dukie is based on a street level. So Spida is holding that against him in the game as well. Michael's peers including Spida, already knew Michael is about that life. Since by this time Mike is running this corner and he got it by putting in work.
