Bodie was a naturally good soldier. He also did a good job and putting together a 'small business', turning his obscure corner into success. He learned well from "D' how to manage a corner. Where he struggled was recruiting good talent and muscle. If he had been able to recruit a couple 'Michaels" he might have been able to survive the Marlo-era.

The sadness is that those abilities were wasted in the streets and Bodie discouraging him from going to school and doing something better in life. I like to think Michael makes it for 2 reasons. 1) He was really smart. When they were still learning the ropes of sticking up stash houses, I'm sure they all made a mistake or two. These weren't CIA-trained operatives, they were kids figuring it out as they went along. And Donnie ended up going to prison 17 years, voluntarily, because of how deeply traumatized he was from all the people he killed. 2 - Count: Takes the customers money and sends them around to be served, keeps track of the money, usually 2nd in command to the boss.
3 - Runner: Fetches the drugs where they're stashed and serves the customer, adds degree of separation to the transaction.
4 - Stash: Guards the drugs where they're kept.

1:14 that casual shrug that michael gives when he gets praised for doing something that just comes natural to him is reminiscent of the great characters such as Pacino in carlitos way...men who dont boast and big up themselves for respecting the code of the streets. Michael was a straight G. The writers did a fantastic job with character development. And btw i just farted.

The writers do a great job of showing how every character Micheal interacts with knows his potential. Except for his mom smh. From Prez, Bodie, Cutty, and Marlo, they all see greatness in Micheal, and all have a different definition of what greatness is. Dope

Michael showed elite composure. He is a kid here and held his ground and the correct count and didn’t let those customers little boy his ass and pressure him into giving more. That’s a translatable skill for any job. Michael handled it greatly he made it clear the count laid a threat and walked away. Then Bodie wanted him to keep working for him seeing he had that skill in him especially as a kid.
