Just here to show respect to Edward Van Halen R.I.P Brother true legend
Agreed. Great musician, and person. The press were relentless on his addictions. Don’t they get it? That’s when a musician plays best a lot of the times, ( not ALL the time). They sell their souls, feelings and inhibitions to create approval, & money. But they deserve to be honored. Because if one can play that well while on something, then they must be damn good straight! It’s the musicians mind that he/ she must overcome.
Did that make sense?
Same :]
fagslayer why?
Wth he already died a month ago
True musician and a legend
I think "Iconic" is a better word than "Greatest" for this one.
Completely agree! Theres way more greater solos out there, both technically, and emotionally.
Except Master of Puppets and Van Halen. If you ask me most of the list should've been Metallica and Van Halen.
@@0abo713 Are you kidding me? How Metallica, the most well known metal band isnt popular? One is one of their most popular song. Also, Judas Priest, they even had their own parody movie. Iron Maiden has 6 million Spotify followers! Tornado Of Souls is also known for the best metal solo among thrash metal listeners! Van Halen is a world wide big heavy metal band! I mean Eddie is the very very first guitarist every begginer looks up to. How could they be unpopular??? Highway Star is one of the most famous Deep Purple song! I mean, there is no one who doesnt knows Smoke On The Water. Yngwie Malmsteen is also a great star and one of the first guitarist that cames to mind when someone says neoclassical shred. Pantera was the radio metal band of the 90's. They were the ones who kept metal alive. Sweet Child o mine, i mean Gun's n Roses are so popular, you will se a poser wearing a Guns shirt just to seem cool. They are that popular. Bohemian Rhapsody has gone super main stream after the movie. Theres no one left who never heard of the solo. I mean it was played several times on the movie. Led Zepellin, like, you know, stairway to heaven? Also, Pink Floyd's comfortably numb solo is known for being the most emotional solo of all time.
Dude I was thinking the same thing. "Iconic" is a way better choice of words. Even then I'd still argue some of their choices.
Nah I wouldn’t use iconic or greatest. Maybe top ten of the dudes favorite tasteful shreds/feel solos. I dont know haha
I still get chills when watching jimmy Hendrix play, Holy crap!
Comfortably numb is number one for me. First time I heard it I was in awe. It grasps your soul
Gives me chills every time I listen to it
@@noahlabonte3076 Man, I smoked a good blunt, and was driving home listening to it. I was getting goose bumps
Dogs by pink floyd at around 3-4 minutes
It’s okay, no where near #1. Just my opinion
WHERE IS THE GUITAR SOLO FROM SPONGEBOB’S GOOFY GOOBER ROCK???
Randy Rhoads of Bikini bottom
dude i came here right fuckin after watching that
Honestly I agree, that's the solo that got me into guitar
thats in fact "i wanna rock" by twisted sister
It is a copy but the solos r different
Playing the fastest doesn’t make it the best
I think Eruption is #1 not for speed, but how avant-garde it was at the time. Eddie van Halen essentially introduced the world to guitar effects like tapping. As much as I agree to your statement (DragonForce could have owned the list if it was simply speed), I think they made the right choice for #1.
Timothy Issler I’m talking about the entire list
@@zackhayes1268 Yeah, I guess so. That does get annoying. Being a melodic metalhead, I like those slower, more expressive solos.
No one said the fastest is the best..
Eric Crapton the list makes it obvious that’s what whoever put it together favors
Man…this list really hits you in the feels. Jimi, Eddie Van Halen, Jon Bonham, Freddy Mercury, Randy Rhodes, and Dimebag all taken too soon.
It's almost like they shouldn't have been doing drugs or having unprotected sex with a million different people.
Dimebag was shot in the head on stage. @@assordante2205
When tornado of souls came.. It just sounded number 1 without competition🥇
Absolutely
Not in a million years.
@@guilhermecarneiro4711actually in less than a year. Sucks to suck
6:03 imagine the guy who got eddies pick when he threw it. Thats probably 1 of the most valueable picks ever.
Andero it’s the pick of destiny
Hey lost brother
But how is he gonna prove it's eddie's?
One of my teachers at school actually caught one. He stepped on it and didn’t move his feet until the end of the show when he picked it up and got it.
Numbers legendary💀💀
Where's lil wayne solo?
Yeah, and Nick Jonas too
I just knew, the second I went into the comment section, there'd be at least on of these comments. 🤣
This will never get old.
Hector feik You made my day
In hell
I love all the guitar solos in this video, but somehow it's the tornado of soul that sticks in my heart the most
Fade to Black is one of the all-time great guitar solos.
Much respect to Randy Rhoads, insane solos! 🔥 R.I.P
Yes indeed
Yea i love mr crowley
Fr!!! He has some of the best solos! Gone way to soon.
:(
I had tickets to the show he died before. I was 16 and distraught still to this day.
The #1 spot deserves to be the #1 spot. RIP Eddie Van Halen
Nah, it don't deserves. Is not really a melodic or emotional.
@@HeraclitorisScroll i think it does- the whole solo was like 13 minutes long, he improvised a lot of it, and it had like multiple "movements", many of which were quite musical
@@aydenduke2556 yeah, but its like a kong show off with couple nice melodies. But I Won't argue, its legendary and importnant
@@HeraclitorisScroll ig i see where ur coming from. Thanks for being civil

Ritchie playing his instrument like he puts his arm another to place. He is incredibly calm, respect.
They're so many great guitarists and great solos it's hard to pick. I like the WE'RE STARS solo. It has a lot of great work in it by a lot of great guitarists from the 80's, when metal ruled the world of music!
I can’t they believe they forgot (insert solo here)
Fred Durst's solo
@@saidchousal1624 lol
Ozzy Osbourne's solo at the end of Take what you want by Post Malone
Lil Wayne solo
Free bird
I know it's for the sake of brevity but cutting out the best parts of both torando and especially floods is criminal
bottlemanic I was thinking the same thing how fucked up is that
IKRRRR
same thing with mr. crowley. they missed the best part!
This comment by itself is a reason Free Bird isn't in the video 😆
Soliloquy by Rush is so heart rending. Alex Lifeson doesn’t make these lists but definitely should be on them. He is so innovative and never fails to deliver the best you can ask for!
Jimi Hendrix playing Machine Gun live with The Band Of Gypsies was one of the greatest guitar solos of all time
Hotel California, Free Bird, November Rain?
Free birds solo is iconic by this point
The the most normal things possible
How do i give more than one up vote to this comment?!
Some people think the faster the solo...... The better?
sultan of swing.?
If any who aren't on this list that definitely deserve to be, it's Don Felder, and Joe Walsh. The Hotel California solo is a master class in songwriting.
It’s probably copyrighted
It's the greatest solo of all time.
I'd say it's better than anything they included.
In my opinion, its my 2nd favorite solo. 1st is stairway. Duh
Church!
Jimmy Page's solo has got to be the best. He is speaking his inner being and every phrase and note is perfect because sometimes a few are a little awkward but fit perfectly. Nobody is perfect and that solo has a whole range of emotion in it.
He was drunk every time he was playing live
Some of them was back in my younger days I'm now 71 and still absolutely love this music
Another solo that amazes me how it gets no recognition is Eddie Vanhalen in the song “Beat It.” For guy to walk into a studio and drop a jaw dropping solo into a pop song on one of the highest selling albums ever, just goes to show how talented Eddie really was!!! RIP!
MJ only paid him a can of bear
Crockclone RBLX that wasn't true. Eddie didn't receive any dime for. He did it for free.
Oh it gts the respect it deserves. Although it's not on this list (bc most of the time only one solo from each interpret and Eruption is more well known) everyone knows it as everyone knows the song and it sometimes even tops lists like this one. Every Rock musician knows it too of course
The Beat It solo is much better than Eruption, IMO. Eruption gets more credit when it comes to solos but to me the Beat It solo sounds so much better musically.
My favorite solo ever!! 💜
Pantera - Domination
Pantera - The sleep
Pantera - This Love
10s
Floods
Primal Concrete Sledge
Long live the King....RIP Eddie. Most iconic guitar piece ever.
Well done! The compilation is wonderful. I would only ask that you keep the titles up through the entire performance.
Deep Purple: Sweet Child in Time
Dire Straits: Sultans of Swing
Eagles: Hotel California
Extreme: Play with Me
It's just Child in Time I believe, but perhaps I'm wrong. Regardless, I couldn't agree more. Worst part is how few people seem to know it
@@ryanbeckett4689 you are right
Absolutely. Child In Time is a masterpiece.
yeah sure , if you are 80 years old that's the list .. get lost

Dont talk to strangers?
Revelation mother earth?
Suicide solution (live)?
Pride and joy?
Cowboys from hell?

Almost all artists featured but no the songs
tornado of souls is megadeths best solo
Holy Diver? What the fuck, that's nothing compared to the ones in this list 😂
Master of puppets and holy wars I have nothing against Metallica and Megadeth but even axes high that's on the 12th is way better than them too combined
@@SLAYER.APO.VOLO. I know holy diver isn't one of the most epic songs, but the solo of that song makes the song reach its climax with those epic artificial harmonics and sounds very rude which should put it in one of the best solos for giving that feeling of being above other solos that are just touched unwillingly like haci nirvana, Green Day etc
The outro solo on Boston's Hitch a Ride...amazing, and so melodic
There was never any doubt that eruption by Van Halen would be number one
Watch cosmic slop live parliament
One of my favorite rock guitar solos of all time is the solo from 'Make Me Do Anything You Want' by A Foot in Coldwater. Still amazing to hear after all these years.
My favorite is November rain by g&r

As a 26 year old I envy you
Awesome collection! My top 4 are the 2 Jimmy's, Ritchie, and of course Eddie! They all could be #1.
glad to see Dimebag get some love, such a great piece
Tornada Of Souls 🤤
Tornado should be higher...
And lucretia should be too
Fucking amazing, deserves to be in the top 5 at least. This list needs more megadeth.
Highway Star is a very good solo. honestly Child in Time is tbh Ritchie's greatest solo that does not get enough credit!
RC32 no shit, I saw em live with Cooper & the magnitude ov those solos.........holy hell, always been a huge fan ov both tho
Ahh awesome dude. Would love to see them live! And ye, both solos are awesome, but I would go with Child in Time if I had to choose
RC32 agree, Child in Time has my favorite Blackmore solo
Exactly my man
Pictures of Home ain't too bad either
This is an accurate list well done
These are more iconic than greatest. Thankfully you got it right with #1.
The guitar solo we ALL knew was gonna be on this list- stairway to heaven
The guitar solo alone is not that great..but the intro music is one of a legendary guitar playing..
the whole music is a fuckin masterpiece
we need to analyze it as a entire song
On the album with all the studio tricks, yes. Highly disappointing live in my humblish opinion.
@@Diesel257 don't know if you're aware of this, but Led Zeppelin has already said that there was never one decent oficial recording of the band live, that's why they used to release one live bootleg by show
You mean comfortably numb.
Quick question:
Where the hell is Free Bird?
Exactly
Free bird is alpha
boring
I feel like a lot of the solos are from metal songs
Oh sh*t never mind
One I remember was Steve Vai and Billy Sheehan during David Lee Roth Eatem and Smaile tour! It was a epic solo!

It's impossible for me to say which Pantera solo is better, Floods or Cemetery Gates. They're equally god-tier, but so different
If you're gonna pick a Cream solo, it's gotta be White Room
nah crossroads live 1968....
Yeah Crossroads live at winterland the best. Although Sunshine and white room are great too.
are we gonna forget that corssroads is a cover, do covers count when it comes to greatest of all time?
The Funeral Parlor Did he cover the solo? He improvised it fully.
Sleepy time time live
AWESOME PICKS !!!
Eruption is the sound of Rock And Roll perfectly encapsulated. Energetic, celebratory, and with just a tiny bit of edge and darkness to make it stand out
When Van Halen's first album came out, Eddie became an instant guitar god and rightfully so.
If vanhalen is a God.
You need to check out Shawn Lane.
Time is the enemy.
Please comment.
i prefer randy
@@mulfss i like eddie too, i just like randy more
Yes.
Nothing beats Comfortably Numb, after I listen to that I literally need a few minutes to recover from all the emotion. Just thinking about it gives my goosebumps.
Sweet Child O' Mine and Stairway to Heaven. Melodic and work perfectly with in the context of the songs they are in. Masterpieces. 1 & 1.
Terry Kath's of Chicago has a great solo with Sing A Mean Tune from 1971, solo begins at 4:21 and continues ascending up until the 9:10 minute.
25 or 6 to 4 is awesome.
I just heard it., theanks man, is really good

Gilmour, Rhoads and Dime are my favorite because you can feel the emotion in their solos!!
Randy, Kirk and Yngwie are all my favorites but I agree with u aswell
Dime is the best
Rhoads, Dime and Vai for me but damn i love Gilmours solos
Underrated comment
How many bad solos are from dime? Not many but he probably was once at a point where it was bad and just was became this prodigy
There are many omissions here on this list. What about Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Steve Morse, Eric Johnson, Guthrie Govan, just to name a few!
Thanks for having Glen Tipton in here...a very underrated guitarist.
Random fact. Glen did the guitar solos for the heavy metal video game Brütal Legend.
@@nomadnick726 Nice...didn't know that.

ua-cam.com/video/TMc0ATKwCIk/v-deo.html
I disagree with number 1 spot But respect Eddie
Me too...To me a 27 year guitar player everyone besides EVH and Tony Iommi have no tone, they all sound like they use their neck pickup and play as fast as they can...None of them have the low end punch and sustain EVH had nor the feel..
Kirk out of nowhere: Where’s Ride the Lightning?! Why isn’t it on the list?! Go out and ask them f’cking why!!
Frfoljek it’s one of the greatest
Fade to Black is their best solo, in my opinion.
Kirk is a good guitarist and you have your own opinion but I think Dave Mustaine(argument for later) is a better a guitarist then Kirk but I agree Ride the Lightning should be on here.
Jake The Syndaclist- I agree Dave is better... But I love Kirk too
Creeping death is kirks best solo don't fight it
Awesome. My fave solo is in Mr Breeze. It's way more than Shredding scales and hammering. Love EVH.
Good to see Megadeth get a mention. But my favourite Megadeth solo would have to be "Ashes In Your Mouth". Other solos that have really stood out for me over the years is The Black Dahlia Murder's "I Will Return" and Roadrunner United's "In The Fire" (Corey Beaulieu of Trivium was the guitarist for that song).
If you pick a Pantera solo, it's gotta be Domination.
For me it’s cemetery gates. The way it picks up speed in the second part is awesome. Really makes the song for me
xVx_K1r1t0_xVx_ Killme me too or walk has a great intro but isn’t really a solo in my opinion
What about the sleep
@@kolsontipple the sleep has a great solo but my favourite Dimebag solo is from the song called 10s
Domination and cemetery gates all have amazing solos but my favourite from pantera has to the solo from floods
"Good Guitar Solo" doesn't mean "how fast can you play shit on the guitar"...it's got to have a SOUL. A couple good ones in here...but alotta "WTF."
That's a rock/metal oriented channel, be happy to see some blues guitar playing
Like Malmsteen lol
Agreed, fast doesn't always equal good. It has to have that feel (Maggot Brain).
Lol, whatever.. go sling your hook to an easy listening channel then.
If you're going to pick a Page solo, "Heartbreaker" is a better choice.
Honorable mention: Michael Schenker's solo from On and On off of his second release MSG
No complaints . That's a good list
Painkiller?
Also Tornado of Souls should be higher and Metallica has better solos even though one's solo does kick ass
sniperguyAZ Damage inc.
Ride the lightning
St. Anger jk lol
Seek and destroy
The thing that should not be
Sorry, but comfortably numb is the better solo for me. Eruption may be better on a technical level, but comfortably numb captures the mood and emotion of the song beautifully
Mike White it depresses me to see people saying that “comfortably numb is overrated” when if anything, it’s underrated, the entire song is a fucking masterpiece
Not Jan absolutely
Mike White I'm not even a Pink Floyd fan and I agree totally. That song is a master piece
Nah. If anything other songs on this list deserves higher spots
Agreed
Eddie Hazel “Maggot Brain” is #1 because of, not only how amazing it sounds, but because you can feel every ounce of struggle and pain in his life through it.
Finally someone said it
Totally a matter of opinion! There are bands here I personally agree with but different songs. But it all boils down to personal preference and personal opinion!
Where’s that 4 minute long solo from Free Bird?
Definitely
Exactly. I reckon the solo from free bird will put any metal band to shame.

Pantera - Domination
Ozzy Osbourne - Crazy Train
Jimi Hendrix- Star Spangled Banner @ Woodstock
Metallica - Whiplash
Megadeth - ...Tornado of Souls is probably the correct choice, but I think Holy Wars was just as good
Stunned that Free Bird, Sultans of Swing, or Cliffs of Dover didnt make it
Liking because you brought up crazy train and sultans of swing
"Star Spangled Banner" was amazing, especially it being played live, tho' the best one from Hendrix was imo "Midnight" from the album "War Heroes" even tho' it was studio.
100% Crazy train is one of the best guitar solos of all time same with Cliffs of Dover

Brian's solo in Queen's Brighton rock is one of my absolute favourites. The guy is an absolute genius. My favourite guitarist of all-time.
Love Brian too, when I was 12 I wanted to be him when I grew up haha I really like his solos in later songs such as I want it all and the hitman.
Very well said. Roasts most of these!!
He is an astrophysicist from Imperial College, one of the best colleges in UK, he should be clever. Also his thesis was 60k words long which is like 250 pages.
Brian May has to be, in addition to a brilliant musician, simply one of the nicest people around. I've been a fan for 45 yrs and he's always the gentleman, time and again...and just happens to be a fantastic guitar rock god.
the bohemian rhapsody solo is quite ordinary, but taking into account that it is the same thing that mick ronson did years ago, bowie's guitarist
Seriously though, loudwire should do two separate best hard Rock n heavy metal Guitar solos of all time vids
Idk if this really fits the list but my all time fav guitar solos are in freezing moon by mayhem and i dont wanna be me from type O negative
Also the whole guitar plays in aint talking bout love sooo good
Note: Out of all the clips, Jimi Hendrix is the only one who never looked at his guitar. His eyes were close the whole time....and his clip was the oldest. Meaning he was far beyond his time. @@DeputyMcNuggets comfortably numb, subjectively it might be the best. but it doesn't mean that its better than tornado of souls. tornado of souls is composed memorable melodies, hard hitting notes, amazing increase in speed, climatic licks and explosion of Rapid notes. therefore its a perfect solo. comfortably numb being considered the greatest by many doesnt mean that its better than the other. its just the impact of solo to the person matters.

Tarka Dal Ride The Lightning solo is better even One was better
Ride the Lightning’s solo shits all over anything Marty has ever done if I’m being honest.
