This is a gold tresure! I loved his bass playing since 1976 when then the Jaco album came out. I´ve been playing drums, guitar, bas and keyboards. For some years ago I build my fyrst fretless bass. I named it Jaco. The more I played that bass, the more I wanted to learn what Jaco did. II wasn´t satisfied with the first bass. So I got an idea on the Rørvig Harbor waiting for the ferry to Hundested. So I build a new bass, "Isefjord," . inspired by the colors of the fjord and the boat bridges,. I know no one can play like Jaco did. But I´m sooooo inspired! ( For years, decades now!)
same here. I havent built a bass though, just bought a mexican fretless JB good enough for my inspiration ;) I dont learn jaco songs, I play jaco music. I often pick 1 of his songs at a time and repeat it and do my own improvs around it, for months literally

From September 9th 1982 until a few days ago I'd always 'known' that the best bass player of all time was Geddy Lee of Rush.... After listening to Jaco Pastorius for the last few days I now know that I was hopelessly wrong....
Jaco refused medical treatment therefore his life was ravaged by mental illness which he tried to subdue with illegal drugs. He sabotaged himself & everyone around him. Maybe you could have handled that situation but nobody else could.
It was taken down as a consequence of youtube shutting down my previous channel. I didn't choose to do so, and it made me very depressed when that happened. Anyway, I'm back now and I promise to keep posting for as long as I have interesting content to share. I will try to steer clear of and avoid copyright claims this time, something which sadly means not being able to post full band recordings of Weather Report or any of the live trio stuff with Metheny and Moses. Any solo Jaco material should be ok though. Thanks for commenting.
I also hope so. After all they did film "Continuum", "Slang", "Mysterious Mountain" and that free improv with "Dolores" from the second set, so there must surely be more. Hopefully it will surface one day in HD quality, as you say. Thanks for commenting, Franck.
The vocal quality Jaco gets out of his bass is something almost mystical, no one can ever match his genius
