Those cpu's could be very attractive during Black Friday, if there's good deals. All while maintaining excellent productivity.
Bro, you won't see differences on 1440p on most games (only cpu heavy/bound games show significant differences regardless of resolution). There was an LTT video a while back showing that the graphs for at the time the 5800x3d + 3090 ti vs the current intel stack at time + 3090ti were pretty much the same on 1440p and 4k, it's only when you go at 1080p you begin to see major differences.
I actually think you got cod wrong and in general, I think you're not thinking about the game engine not being able to produce more than 250 fps, which is pretty common Im having that same issue with my 4090 and a fixed 7950x3D, I'm GPU bound in most my games and if not, then it seems the game engine is the limiting factor if all of my CPU cores, and my GPU aren't at 100% utilization. I think the 9800x3D might need a 5090 in the future to increase fps, because as of now, no gpu and game engine can beat the 9800x3D. None of your CPU cores hit 100% utilization, and your 4090 was at 90%. There was performance on the table, and I experience the same thing and can't go above 250 fps, and my settings says my fps is uncapped. I think the engine might be maxed out at 250 fps. I haven't played warzone bo6, I only played bo6 multiplayer
Damn... not bad. I'm waiting to pair the up & coming RTX 5090 with possibly the Ryzen 9950X3D in 2 months time... but I will admit I'm jealous right now.
I know it's complete overkill for the vast majority of people but the RTX 4090 is a monster of a card. I think it will take another 2 or 3 generations of GPU's before we can truly appreciate how much performance that thing was offering for it's time.
I was thinking about getting a new pc after the RTX5090 comes out, should I go for 9800X3D or Ultra 285K? (for streaming/gaming/editing) or 9950X? I'm on a 9900k with a 1080ti and they were amazing for almost 6 years now. Thanks!
If I had to guess closer to 3,000 to 3,500 dollars but I can put the parts into pc part picker and see how much it actually costs. Do you need help with a parts list?
Yay, a useful set of figures, thanks! Everyone else seems to be set on 1080p (or even 720p 500+fps) benchmarks which are no use to me whatsoever, I play at 4k and it's really helpful to know that the 7800 is just as quick as the 9800. I'm upgrading from a 10600K and was wondering whether to hold out for the 9900 or 9950, this suggests I'm unlikely to see a significant improvement at 4k gaming for the extra outlay so you've almost certainly saved me a couple hundred pound :)
You don't understand what the CPU gaming benchmarks are telling you. It's about telling you the ceiling fps rate you can expect with that CPU in particular games. So if you target solid 60Hz @4K then you can go to game benchmarks and see what CPUs manage that, in some games CPUs will struggle. If you want 120Hz @4K then your options are far more limited. That is a canary in a coal mine, especially when it's newer titles that need better CPUs than 10600K with a weak platform with just PCI3. You really going to run a high end GPU on PCIE3? The 3090 was already bottlenecked by that in 2020. Will future GPUs require a new CPU or is a 10600K going to see CPU bottlenecking more serious than that shown in this video. 90% GPU utilisation is only slight performance loss. The benchmarking was also compromised by using the AMD pre-install which is W11 23H2, when those reviewers who switched to 24H2 found a good performance increase in line with AMD's claims. What happens to your 4K gaming if you choose to use upscaling, then your game is working often at 1440p not 4K, many games secretly reduced game resolution for performance reasons then upscaled themselves, the manufacturers have improved on what was feasible for individual game devs to produce.
I have a 2080ti with a i9990k for 5 years now. I mainly play call of duty warzone, but frames have been dropping so bad recently. Should I wait for the 5090 to release or just buy a new rig right now to play warzone?

your testing is useful, seeing results only for 1080p means nothing, yes it might be loads faster, but in reality, no one will game in 1080 on a 9800x3d. A mixture like you show offers a realistic view of what the chip will be like.
It's an interesting benchmark but it's far from accurate. There's a reason why CPUs are tested at 1080p. Yes, the FPS difference becomes minimal at higher resolutions (due to GPU being more involved), but it isn't gonna provide much information to you unless you own a RTX 4090 yourself. Because at 1440/4K resolutions, GPU becomes a much bigger variable in your FPS.

@@cvd1 Monitor Unboxed is running multiple burn-in tests, keep an eye on them. And you maybe playing in 1080p, but realistically speaking, those who pay 500 bucks on a CPU are usually 1440p or 4k. Very interesting, the 9800x and 9700x are enticing choices at 1440p. Solid average FPS and solid .1% lows.
FInally a review that have 4k benchmarks, good job.
At 4k you benchmark the GPU not the CPU.
@@Viex08 says deluded amd fanboys, more fps for counter strike and fortnite LOL
@@cesaru3619Incorrect as usual. The intel soy cope is real.
Just bought the 9800X3D today to upgrade from my old 5900X.
Should definitely help the 4K gaming paired with my 4090.
Im more than happy with my 7700x 4070 super for the foreseeable
Great build! This is the Dell Alienware AW2725DF? Do you like better over the other 27’’ OLED monitors?
Damn...
Also mind you game optimization plays a huge role, some games play butter smooth, and some games stutters even on the most high end CPU and GPU
I was thinking about getting a new pc after the RTX5090 comes out, should I go for 9800X3D or Ultra 285K? (for streaming/gaming/editing) or 9950X?
I'm on a 9900k with a 1080ti and they were amazing for almost 6 years now.
Thanks!
The 9950x3d will be made just for you!
Or 9900X3D.
Or even a 14700K and some new games!
Just please not the intel ultras. Rushed TSMC manufacturing for Intel did more harm than good.
Depends on what resolution you play
@@PcCentric tyvm! Even if I intend to stream with the gpu this would be the better option over the 9800X3D?
@@lolcatmaroon I don't know much about the new processor, is there a 9900X3D in plans?
What’s the cost of this entire build? I know I could look at each major component, but just wanted to make sure I’m not missing anything.
If I had to guess closer to 3,000 to 3,500 dollars but I can put the parts into pc part picker and see how much it actually costs. Do you need help with a parts list?
Never thought I'd switch from intel to amd, but I have a 10900k and it's time to upgrade. The 9800 looks like the only option here.
Really curious how does 7600x3d compare to these 2 in 2k and 4k gaming. It’s in more people’s budget and matter. Please do a video!
Look at youtube benchmarks videos.
I'm rocking a 7800x3d and works great! NVIDIA 4090 as well!
Hi, What type of cable are you using for your 4090? Is that the stock one, or an aftermarket? I'm looking for one now so, recommendations?
Is your build black or white? You can look at asiahorse cables.
Big thumbs up for not forgetting about the COD bros. 😁
I have a 2080ti with a i9990k for 5 years now. I mainly play call of duty warzone, but frames have been dropping so bad recently. Should I wait for the 5090 to release or just buy a new rig right now to play warzone?
What is your budget? Buy the new rig now. I am telling you the new parts will be hard to find and buy unless if you live near an electronics store.
i got my hands on a 9800X3D today i managed to get one from Scan for £449.99, the last part i needed for my new build i cant wait for it arrive tomorrow and start my build :).

I just upgraded from a R7 3700x to a R5 7600X3D for my 4070 super and it’s the best upgrade for my build
That is a huge upgrade.
Wonder how this would compare to the fastest gaming PC from 10 years ago.
Building my first PC, gonna do an ITX, and with the 7800 X3D price, I just bought this on Amazon this morning.
Any tips from anyone for my build? Cooling? Bottleneck? Power Supply? Ill take any! Thankyou!
Thankyou also for the content!
What are your pc parts you bought so far?
I’m a Warzone addict only reason I’m upgrading is for the game lol! Damnit
I have a 5800x paired up with a 7900 GRE running games at 1440p. Planning to upgrade, should I go for 7800x3d or the 9800x3d. Tia!
Whichever one fits in your budget.
This is what I been waiting for
Finally I can upgrade from my i7 8700k
Yes this will be a huge upgrade.
If I want the 9800x3d should I buy it on release price or wait till Black Friday for lower price?
These literally just came out. They won't get cheaper till next year...
Wait until black friday or until prices lower.
im waiting the 9900x3d
your testing is useful, seeing results only for 1080p means nothing, yes it might be loads faster, but in reality, no one will game in 1080 on a 9800x3d.
Throw whatever slurs you want at me, i'll be gaming on a 1080p 240hz monitor with a ryzen 7 9800x3d for the next few years. Just waiting for 1440p high refresh rate oleds to go down, and potentially fixing burn in.
@@cvd1 how low lmao bc they go down to like .3 or .1
@@cvd1 burn in has been fixed, I have Alienware 27inch oled, yes expensive but it’s extremely good. New better cpus will be out before the oleds are much cheaper, but you do you and enjoy it ✌️
@@cvd1 Monitor Unboxed is running multiple burn-in tests, keep an eye on them. And you maybe playing in 1080p, but realistically speaking, those who pay 500 bucks on a CPU are usually 1440p or 4k. In 4k the 9800x3D is nothing more than flavor, in fact its worse than the more well rounded competition.
Thank you for reviewing this over hyped CPU properly and using 4k and 1440p. It pees me off that even GN still use 1080.
I am due an upgrade but will wait until CES in Jan to see how the 9900x3D is, and pair with a 4090 or 5080 in March.
1080p is useful for limittesting, it pushes the limits of a cpu. Also, there's a whole lot of people that play on 1080p for competitive games. But if GN shows only 1080, I understand your issue completely.
My PC died last week 😢 been my loyal companion for 8 years .. I have money saved up ready for a new one..
