I gotta' defend this video a bit. There's a lot of complaining about her making a simple recipe and dirtying a lot of dishes for it. And that there's a lot of "Ums." I was given this and it's my first food processor. I read the manual and there's no information/pictures on how the bowl, tubes and disks work together. I came here and she showed me. The simple recipe is intended to show how to operate the machine, not how to make guacamole for a party of 12. And I learned a lot from seeing how things go together and operate. She's no pro and yes, the "Ums" got annoying, but I now know how to get started with a food processor. And there are a lot of commenters saying they can't get theirs going while the answer turns out to be you have to put the bowl on correctly - and that info is not in the manual!
Mary R. has made quite a few demo videos for Cuisinart over the years and while they may seem the same, there are differences. Search for Cuisinart videos and you may find the interesting one by the "Burger Bar" (I think) Chef...pizza, choc chip cookies, and a few other recipes. There are many videos to be found. This model is a very simple mechanical appliance. Enjoy it and "Happy Cooking". P.S. I think that I like Mary R. a little too much!
I use one of these in my work and I can attest that they are good appliances with good quality. They can chop and process most anything. I also appreciate the safety interlock system that doesn't allow the device to engage unless the lid is in place and there is no direct access to the blades/discs. The video however doesn't show you the optimal way to use the device. I understand why, they want to show you the use of the on off/pulse paddles and in optimal position, this would be blocked by the operator, as well as the operator facing away from the camera. Just know that you should be facing the machine with the on off/pulse paddles nearest you.
@LiveOkie Well, I've always used the thing with the paddles facing me. Having the paddles facing away seems backward to me. But hey, if that seems right to you, then get it. However is easiest for the operator.

Making guacamole in a food processor just to put in a molcajete… described as a “decorative bowl” 🫣. Anyway I purchased this food processor today and can’t wait to use it!
Yea so that ‘decorative bowl’ is called a Molcajete (Mole-ka-het’ay). It is similar to a mortar and pestle and is the traditional Mexican kitchen item used to make - you guessed it - guacamole, also a Mexican food lol. So the food you’re putting in it as a display is actually the original dish it was made in ;)
I'm so curious about the other available accessory blades. They show a bunch available on the Cuisinart website but no descriptions of what they do. I'm here on YT looking for videos of uses for the various accessory blades but I don't really see anything. I was thinking I need to super thick 8mm slice but no actual idea what for. Your videos are great just need more with the different options.
It's up to you what you use the different slicing disks for; your imagination is your guide. An 8mm thickness might be good for slicing eggplant for Ratatouille, for example, and a 2mm for potato chips/crisps. The 4mm disk that comes standard is a good general-purpose thickness, great for making scalloped potatoes, slicing tomatoes for sandwiches, etc., but it's not perfect for everything.
From what I understand the mm measurement will make you slices of things like cucumbers or carrots of those thicknesses. I read complaints of 3mm thickness being so thin you could see through the slices if that helps you at all. I would want 4mm to 6mm thickness myself. You might even want the 8mm thickness if you want really thick slices. Look at a ruler and imagine how thick those slices would be. There are 10mm in 1 cm.
I bought this model based on it being highly recommended by America's Test Kitchen, along with the fact that it was similar in operation to the Cuisinart I had back in the '70s. I just wish that it had an adjustable slicing disk rather than me needing to buy accessory disks, and that it had a continuous feed chute available like my old one did. (I wonder if the Waring chute would fit.)
You can get additional blades...check Amazon. My 14 cup is about ten plus years old and I just got additional discs from Cuisinart on Amazon. They ask you to put in your model number to be sure it's compatible.
+ KoalaSez -- Yes, you CAN get additional disks (as I pointed out when I wrote "I just wish that it had an adjustable slicing disk rather than me needing to buy accessory disks"), but the similar Waring Pro model has an adjustable slicing disk that gives several thickness choices in one disk. It's a nice feature.
I just bought this and I could not be happier , I debated between this and the Breville but , this one does work better on dough IMO , and I like simple .. an adjustable blade would be nice but in all honesty this is probably all I will use , for the most part , I LOVE it !! Took it out of the box yesterday and used it. Took a little bit of time to get the base bowl on for it to turn on finally did try to take it out today to do the same exact thing and it won’t turn on and I feel like I have it locked in exactly as I should. Very frustrating.

I have so much trouble getting the deeper top on completely. Yes I have it on properly with handle in front, tube on back. Nothing actually slides easily ON or OFF.
Why in heck is the feed chute on the BACK side of the machine? Does any other food processor on earth do things that way? Not a prob for a tall person like me, but I think that a short person would have trouble seeing what she's doing from the other side of the machine.

Same thing happened to me and I figured it out. Just unlock and remove the feedtube and then reattach it other way. It should face it the opposite side.
Cuisinart should thank other people for reviewing this unit. If I was to judge just off this video, I wouldn't have purchased it. Guacamole is one of the easiest tasks that any processor can handle, which she didn't even do well. The "decorative bowl" is also what you're supposed to use to make traditional guacamole. This was a lazy and ignorantly produced video that you would expect from a random reviewer, not the company itself. As far as an actual tip, if you put red onion in, it keeps the avocado green for days. Anyone that's left a half avocado with the pit around knows it doesn't slow browning. They really hired an idiot.
This is really bad. I find that the Cuisinart processor is very difficult to figure out for a first time user. To be useful, the video needs to take the steps much SLOWER and needs to have a professional videographer zoom in. This thing is very hard to figure out how to assemble. This video was no help.
Usually, the letters at that end of a model number, for almost everything, is the color. So my guess is that the DFP-14BCWNY is the same thing in white. It certainly works that way for my mini food processor as my model has an R and it's red. If you look at the online catalog for it, B is black, W is white and usually no color letter is chrome.
She doesn’t show the most important part of the groove needing to fit in the other lever thing. She’s not a happy demoer. Please Cusinart get another!!!
Do you know how I know that this is not the food processor for me? You've already cut up all the ingredients you're putting into the food processor! Why are you buying a food processor if you're going to cut everything up in advance! I'm going to find one that you can put the ingredients in whole because I'm not dragging out a cutting board in my fancy knife to make guacamole in my food processor. Do you how long it would take to clean all that stuff up? I don't get how you're saving time with this.
The sharp end goes into the wall. Seriously, you aren't putting in the feed tube correctly. Read the owner's manual. If your husband threw that out, throw him out, too.
Was having the same problem and the owner's manual has no descriptions. If you look at the feed tube, you'll notice that the cup has a metal bar on one side. Make sure you insert that metal slide through the back of the machine as that allows the power to turn the machine on.

The fix is possibly that you've put the lid on backwards and then tried to force it. The handle on the work bowl goes to the front, and the feed tube on the lid goes to the rear. Line up the handle on the work bowl over the word "On" on the paddle, then twist the bowl counterclockwise until the handle is straight to the front, over the split line between the two paddles. Then put the lid on with the feed tube to the rear, also at an angle, and then twist IT counterclockwise until it's straight to the back. To take it apart, reverse the procedure: twist the lid clockwise and remove it, then twist the bowl clockwise and remove it.
Lol...Exactly 10 minute video to make guacamole (which doesn’t include her prep time pre dicing off camera) plus now she has to wash 6 bowls and the machine and her decorative bowl (lmao). I can make my guacamole in 10-12 minutes and all I have to wash is a knife, a spoon, one bowl and masher. Like you said $230 processor? That can buy me lots of tequila to go with my guacamole😂
@@franksantos3418 To be fair the unit is capable of serious work. Like if they made pizza dough, tomato sauce and shredded cheese all using just the unit that'd be a good demo. There's no reason a molcajete shouldn't be used as a serving bowl. It's frequently used as such for guacamole. Even if it weren't, it doesn't matter at all - "doing it wrong" is not, in and of itself, a valid reason to not do something. We'd still be in the stone age if everyone strictly adhered to that philosophy.

mike hansen You should be able to make nut butters in this machine, although it does take a while. But butters are better suited for a high quality, and only high quality, blender (such as a Vitamix).
I used 1.5 cups of unsalted dry roasted peanuts + 1.5 cups salted cashews and it turned out great. ~3mins. I also have a Vitamix and the process is the same. Both machines make peanut butter well.

A Molcajete is not a Decorative Bowl. You don't need a Cuisinart to mush up avocados. BTW, yours is made of concrete instead of basaltic lava.
A ton of Ums
Had to stop watching. Way too many ums. Making my skin crawl
ERM, uhm, just put the... No, wait. That's it, uhm... Yes this is the urm blade that erm eh makes the onion, no wait, green onion, sorry.
Holy SHIT! Whoever green lit this shit show needs fired.
To much work for a Wacamole!!!
YT folks can’t cook worth a damn…. Guacamole soup
Does she gat paid extra for every time she says “um”?
Incredibly poorly designed asswmbly
Making pizza dough with a machine that can only cut?
Just show us what the machine can do. Don't pretend it can do things it's not designed for.
Your constant use of the ‘um’ sound is annoying.
Just look at how many dishes you dirtied making this!!! How are you saving time?
then why are you watching it? She is dirtying things cos she is demonstrating. At your home, you wont be having items all laid out in a dish!
UM, UM , UM , UM UM UM UM , UM ,UM , UM , UM AND UM, IT WAS, UM,, VERY, UM, ANNOYING !
Richard R: Too many "um's." You need to work on that.
This is an old and tired design. Don't buy it just because a few professionals recommend it. You will be disappointed.

can some tell me please if I can make almond butter in this machine ??? thanks for the answer
mike hansen You should be able to make nut butters in this machine, although it does take a while. But butters are better suited for a high quality, and only high quality, blender (such as a Vitamix).
If you want to make nut butters , with NO oil or other additives, get a VITAMIX ! For the best Almond butter ever !
I used 1.5 cups of unsalted dry roasted peanuts + 1.5 cups salted cashews and it turned out great. ~3mins. I also have a Vitamix and the process is the same. Both machines make peanut butter well.
