      @@alarce129 I just got the prep 11 plus from bed bath and beyond. Then got the full 8 disc accessory set on ebay. And just ordered 2 extra blades from cuisinart for it.
      So even if they discontinued it, this model has 10 year motor warranty, 3 year everything else (only 3 or less for newer models. 3 years for 14 cup even motor).
      The footprint is smaller and the only model left not discontinued yet with the good induction quiet powerful motor. Newer models are junk.
      I think I'm set.

      @@WannodsPlace if you look on the bay, you can find "vintage" mostly not used discs that were made in Japan like I did. Dlc10 if I recall got the whole set for a little more than one of the "new" chinese ones lol.
      I got a set with all the stickers still on. Some may be used but you can get more discs at once then are even available for the machine right now.
      Edit: fyi my prep 11 plus and pro 7 take the same blades.
      On the blades you bought it should say dlc-8 or dlc-10 in the center..that will tell you what to search for on the bay "dlc-8 disc set" or "dlc-10 disc set"
      But the set has discs am that arent available.
      My 14 custom definitely has discs in the vintage DLC-7 set I got that aren't even made anymore.

      We bought our 8 cup Cuisinart back in 1985 and I recall it being crazy expensive, but a friend insisted we needed one in the kitchen. It mostly sat unused until we got serious about cooking. Although we got the 14 cup for it's larger capacity, I still think the older unit is better. Congrats on 30 + yrs with Hamilton. I have one of their blenders and it just doesn't quit. I finally got around to trying your recipe, i didn't have strawberries so i used bananas about 3 frozen cut up, one can cold sweetened condensed milk and 2 cups cold whipping cream and about 2 TBsp honey because its supposed to gice flavor and prevents the ice cream from getting crystalized and make it more scoopable.
    My icecream ended up being to liquidy. Im legally blind so its hard for me to notice when it became grainy like, then i couldn't tell when it became smooth like, I'm wondering if you think i may have over processed?
    After the bananas looked grainy like to me then when i added the liquids in, i let machine run about 3 minutes

    • @cfldriven
      @cfldriven  3 роки тому

      I don't think you over processed, but am puzzled why the mixture didn't solidify after being placed in the freezer for several hours. I have made banana, strawberry, and raspberry ice cream with banana being the most disappointing only because it didn't apart much taste. I definitely prefer the berries as they impart a stronger flavor. Try again and make sure it spends around 4 or more hours in the freezer.

      @@WannodsPlace That is wonderful news as that is the only way to improve. I've discovered that cutting back a little on the sweeten condensed improves the ice cream flavor. What to do with the leftover condensed milk, it usually disappears on it way to the sink.
