  • In this episode we are doing the final work in the cockpit before the top coat spray session. Axel is finishing the little drains, also final touch ups to the corners of the salon door, while Chris has been sanding and spot filling in the background. Then we paint! Watch the game change!

    I love the style of Wilda. I know she is a kit boat, but so many catamarans now have a very boxy house and I find that extremely unattractive. You are doing a great job on the detailing of everything. She is going to be absolutely stunning in the water.

    Gobsmacked! I'm totally GOBSMACKED!
    No one who hasn't done this type of work could possibly appreciate the amount of effort it takes to get a satisfying result and then multiply that by 10x to get any where close to perfection.
    I'm staggered by both the effort you guys put into this and the quality of your work.
    I used to do this professionally more than 30yrs ago so I know the endless hours involved, the kg's of dust you eat and breath, the aching arms, chest, shoulders, back, legs as you do your best to get a section straight and smooth. We called those long sanding boards "torture boards" and very few guys would last even one day on a torture board. You guys have done it all yourselves!
    I don't know if you personally realize what a miracle team you are, to even stay married through all that sanding and dust everywhere, the endless broken timelines... My god you guys are fantastic!
    More to the point your masterpiece is looking more and more amazing with each video!
    Amazing! Impressive and totally Inspirational!
    Well done guys! And thank you for continually sharing 🏆🏆

      Thank you sooo much for this beautiful comment! It is very encouraging and humbling! This means a LOT to us, especially coming from someone as experienced as you are! This is probably the most appreciative comment we’ve ever received since we started this channel! We hope we keep the good work coming and we hope we’ll make the videos better and better! One sweet day we’ll be out there on the water, showing Wilda to the world! 🙌🍾🥂⛵️❤️🙏 THANK YOU again!

    Wilda is looking everything a super cat what a transformation in the years you have had her congratulations to you both the only thing im asking will you be having a second steerage position inside the cabin for those when the weather turns funny or emergency steering she will look great on the water well done see you next week 😊😊😊

    • @buildingwilda
      @buildingwilda  11 місяців тому +1

      Only one wheel, but yes, the autopilot will be set up inside as well.
      When it comes to emergency steering, very little can go terribly wrong with the type of steering she has, mechanical push pull cable, and the bits that are most likely to fail can be replaced fairly easily and quickly.
      We plan on adding tiller(s) eventually.

    Can someone please explain to me the engineering of the front transverse spar. To my eye, the diagonal stays should be below the spar, with the tabernackle pointing downwards, like a truss. I know that this is not how it is done though. The only way that I can see that Wild's setup works is that the tension on the diagonal stays forces the tack point downwards, against the lifting moment of the forestay. Is that it?

    • @buildingwilda
      @buildingwilda  11 місяців тому

      No problem
      The forestay is pulling up on the center of the beam.
      A rope stretched between the ends of the beam and over the triangle on top of the beam resists this upward force.
      Tension in the rope pushes down, through the triangle onto the beam. Tension increases, opposing increasing upward force in the forestay.
      The triangle is sometimes called a seagull striker. The rope, a martingale.
      I think that is what you wrote in the end of your comment.
      Please go ahead and ask away, we don't mind answering if we're can.
      Hope you enjoy the videos and stay around for more! We'll be getting into the outfitting stage real soon.
