This episode is going to show a bit of our struggles with getting the curved salon windows fitted into our sailboat. We work with Steve, our window guy, who moulded the acrylic material. Well that is a great episode and a great result with the reformed windows. I would not bother attempting to correct the ‘optically damaged’ one - go for new stuff. Great Result.😀👍⛵️
That's what we thought 🤔 Thanks
Success with a capable supplier that remolded the windows. Just lying there, they look good.
Yes they do! Great working with someone who really knows what they are doing!
From despair, disappointment, frustration to hope and joy!
Looks great
Thanks!
What a relief with the windows. You’re close to fit out. You might even catch Ross…..
Which Ross?.... Ah you mean Ross from life on the hull. Maybe... Maybe not. He's done so much of his electric stuff already. But yeah, catching up 🤣
@@buildingwilda you’re getting there!
Brilliant work as usual. You guys deserve a much larger audience. Thank you. 🇨🇦
Wow, thank you! Nice if you! We will be doing less boring stuff soon.. 🤣
The boat is looking great! I look forward to seeing you sail her one day. I worry that you don't seem to value your lungs very much! When working with fibreglass, especially the dust created when cutting, grinding and sanding it, it is vital to wear serious masks at least. Also, dont get into a car and go home with dusty clothes on. I speak as someone who also built my own cat, many years ago now, but i now live with emphasema which is not at a good thing. Wishing you both a long life. I love your channel and your boat 😊
Thanks! You are absolutely right though... We sometimes forget the mask... Not great for sure. We try to be good 😊
Great progress. I think you will be happy with keeping your standards high.
Thanks! We try as best as we can! Sometimes it takes too much patience and time! Oh well...
Congratulations on the windows I seen all the problems you were have and they look good. And I love that your attitudes are still good after all the work you two have put in on this boat but can we get just a little more oh, glorious sanding 👍👍👍👍👍just a little
Just a little more.... Haha ... the famous words :) Thanks for the comment and glad you like the windows! Looking forward to having them finally installed.... just a little more...
It's so good to see that your patience has been rewarded. Can't wait to see the windows all in place - Wilda will look so beautiful. Cheers
Thanks! we are happy we are getting closer every day!
Nice to see your are finally been made correctly and fit well makes wilda more alive well done 😊😊
Thanks! Finally! Now, stil this last one needs some polishing and then we can start thinking about installation!
Hi can you send me the name of the company that did your windows as I am about to start organising the windows for my schionning. .
Plasview Boat Windscreens is the company we used. We were not sponsored or anything like that. But Peter was really helpful and communicative and got the job nicely done.
What was window company name please? Looks great.
Plasview Boat Windscreens is the company we used. We were not sponsored or anything like that. But Peter was really helpful and communicative and got the job nicely done.
Great stuff
Thanks!
Coming on nicely 😊😊
It is! Thanks 🙏
Windows look great. How did the new company achieve such a good fit. Did they make a form? or templates.sizes? 👍
They used the window cutouts that we provided and also the mould covers that we made (the male - female kind of mold). Thanks for the feedback and comment! Hope you stick around for installation, whenever that will follow :)
Just catching up with your videos hopefully the windows work out alright 😊😊
Getting there!
I sent you a comment, (a while ago), suggesting that you just accept the over-curved windows, and that you would get used to them in time. I think you can feel very pleased with yourselves for sticking to your high standards. Very well done. Congratulations to you both. I can’t wait to see them fitted now! Roger 🇦🇺
Thanks, Roger! Yes, we really wanted the job well done. There's still this last window that has those imperfections and requires some polishing. Hopefully, after that we can plan installation.
Having windows that fit properly must be a great relief. The boat is looking great.
Indeed, it feels great to have them nearly there!
Quality control first class !!
Thanks 🙏 We'll get it right 👍
Great progress
Thanks 🙏 Babysteps 🤣
Great progress! Bummer about the water tanks under the saloon seats. Wish they were else where. Someone suggested bladders. Maybe?
The tanks are in a pretty good place... I just wish we and the previous owner had plugged them during the build... I guess we all live and learn. We will keep the tanks and flush them thoroughly before putting them to use. Thanks for watching / Axel and Rox
Looking good guys. One step closer to splash. 👍😎
Thanks 🙏 Yes! We wish we were taking bigger steps though!
Good job!
Thank you! Cheers!
I like the counter sink of the through halls, less drag and less likely to be hit by debris. Can you explain why you chose to epoxy them in rather than sealing?
Because there should be no reason to want to remove them. Not for the life of the boat. The fiberglass reinforced nylon will never (ish) corrode or deteriorate and the only reason to replace them would be if you want to move them or if you somehow manage to break off the threaded bit on the inside. This should be really difficult to do. If they do deteriorate in 20 or so years you can drill them out. 5200 or similar sealant is not as permanent. Now they are part of the hull and I hope they are in good locations 🤣
All Hail the Algorithim. ❤👍🇦🇺
can you get bladders for your water tanks so you can take them out and flush them also how far are you from water to launch you cat
The water is really close. No more than 100m away, but we need a bit of a high tide. Bladders could work and for many boats they are a good option. I think we'll be fine with the tanks we have, we'll just have to flush them properly before we use them, and perhaps add a filter or two. Maybe do a round of polishing water in place of fuel 🤣
My husband loves the video's, I'm listenig to your story whilst he is watching the video's. It's an amazing job you're doing! What I'd like to know is a something different: what is the title and performer of the music you play at the start of your video's. I love the music and can't find it anywhere.
Marc Robillard - forever young We use Artlist for all our music for now. Thanks 🙏 and thanks for watching. We really appreciate the time you take to watch and to connect with us. Thanks again
God planlegging er halve jobben og godt verktøy er også halve jobben. Så hvis det er på plass trenger du ikke å gjøre noe 😃
Önskar att det vore så enkelt! 🤣
hi guys, well done on the work so far, i look forward to each video, i wanted to say, it may be worth you doing the windows yourself, you made all the molds, may as well heat the perspex and mold them up as well, at least you know that they are going to be right.
Definitely something we thought of. Thanks. We did find a solution and will be back with more info soon. Thanks 🙏
I thought the project died, because i always could only see SE1 videos. Watched those years ago, now i checked for new videos and still could only see SE1. Now that i clicked on the video link of the last video of SE1, which seemed to have unlocked the new videos on your youtube account and the other 3 playlists. Really weird, i think you youtube account is bugged, hopefully just for me. Well, nice to see new Videos of you.
Thanks 🙏 I hope its just you 🤣 We had s break due to Covid... Had to leave the country for two years. Now we are back again. We are travelling to and from Oz due to work and visas and such, but getting closer to launch by the day! Hope you enjoy catching up! And hopefully we won't bore you with too much sanding 🤣 Glad you're back! / Axel and Rox
Yeah there is so much to consider when boat building. That's part of what I love about it - strategising, planning, executing - 20 things at once, in the right order. Oh yeah, and standing back to admire your handiwork on frequent occasions. Looking good. Cheers
These are the toughest jobs in many ways, a large number of repetitive tasks, which take for ever and when all are complete you do not have much to show for it - in terms of visual impact. You are a good team - keep on plodding through it - progress is progress.😀👍⛵️
Great show I enjoy watching you guys.
Thanks for watching!
A glimmer of hope with a vendor willing to try and supply an experimental large, curved, forward window. Oh so many holes. But somebody has to do them, Rox and Axel. What a team, never giving up. Forging ahead.
No giving up! Couldn't afford to if we wanted to 🤣 Actually the 4 front windows. The two smaller ones have a smaller, but tighter bend in them and we're also overcurved. In some ways even trickier to fit.
Great work guys! Repetitive, tedious tasks but the finish line is in sight!
Thanks 🙏 Yes.... Finally getting closer. The outfitting we thought we'd start a year ago is finally starting.... These boats take sooooo much longer than you might think.
As you were doing the closeups of the hole filling, I got tired just thinking of how much work you invested in taping off the non skid. Ahhh, the energy of youth. You are an impressive pair.👍👍👍🇦🇺
🤣 Maaaany little details that take forever! Thanks for watching!
Slow and steady wins the race. Looking good guys. 👍😎
Thanks 🙏 Another tedious task nearly done.
Good Job!
Thanks! Another tedious task nearly done.
Nice one.. Elaine Benes: It shrinks? 😉🙂👍
🤣 The shrinking is entirely our fault... Air in the mix from mixing.and in a few cases, leaking out below...
Great you got a new window company. But is it expensive?
We'll get back to that, but actually no. Surprisingly.
Well.... Of course it's expensive, it's a boat, but less so than we expected.. 🤣
I think more than 100 holes to fill and drill 🤥
Several hundred holes. Just imagine... Hinges - 6 holes each... Hatches - minimum 12. Then pad eyes, winches, cleats, blocks, tracks etc. Maaaany holes 🤣
You got a table. First meal of many on that table ❤
And it works! Just needs a few holes drilled and filled, then it will work as a daybed or sofa as well 🤣
The filling is good practice for when you both have kids. 😳
Not sure about that...🤣
That’s a lot of drilling. Late even more filling. ☹️
Yes it is.... And not all of it
Please stay positive cause you will get there and have a nice boat to travel around the world and it’s oceans. Because you’ve already come a long way and the boat is looking very nice keep up the good work 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you, we will! Tedious repetitive tasks. But one of the last ones.... Before final outfitting
