Exactly! I don't get the point of the video. Of course getting a new part will fix a faulty part. I have the very same machine and my keyboard failed today and won't work in either position. Lights up for a few seconds, then dims and the keys and trackpad don't respond. Fortunately, under warranty.
Hello lost souls that come after me, I've finally found a solution and will write it here because this is the easiest thread to find on this particular topic. Specifically, I have a Thinkpad 3rd Gen, keyboard never was replaced. Suddenly after some updates, on boot up, the keyboard lights up then dies 5 seconds after, none of the keys were useable. On some days it would work fine, on others, it would stay dead. Lenovo will tell you this is a hardware issue and the keyboard needs to be replaced, which is several hundred dollars, these are lies, YOUR HARDWARE IS FINE, hell I realized this without 0 technical training, it's a wonder how Lenovo can't. Simply go to your BIOS settings and reset it to default/factory settings and it will fix the keyboard.
Wow. The same happened to me. Went throughout the same process with Lenovo. Only difference being that they wanted to see for themselves that it didn't work, so I had to send in the keyboard including the tablet. So annoying, but I eventually got a new keyboard from them (and my tablet back).
if you have a lenovo thinkpad x1 Gen 1 and your keyboard lights up for a few seconds but doesn't work press Escape key (which is also the FnLk button) + F1 key or if that doesn't work press Escape + F1 + F3 and it will re-enable your keyboard, I do not know if this will work with the other generations but It worked for me.
@@paula7572 please please please tell me what exactly you did I also have Gen 2 and I have exact problem I light up and after do nothing please help me
Eu gostaria mesmo é ver o interno desse teclado por dentro como é a construção e minha curiosidade é saber se eles são por dentro como os SK-8845 ou superiores
Getting a new keyboard is not a fix solution!
press Esc + F1 or Esc + F1 + F2

Is there any other solution for this problem ? I don't think my country has a Lenovo center
Problem is the flex cable inside is sh1t. So after a few yrs of bending back and forth it breaks. Really really bad quality from Lenovo
But on 2 years the keyboard it’s broken again?
thats no solution: If it is defective buy a new one
It's the second keyboard I have to change, it seems to be a design failure.
the Keyboard cover is $200 mine is just broken (by accident). Now I'm using a USB keyboard for this machine.
Not a solution. Very misleading!

Same problem here. Thx for clearification. Do Not think i have to search for other solutions any more.
is the warranty necessary to get a replacement....
Of course
tks, now I know the root of the issue
The keyboard it’s broken on 2 years
What should I do if my Lenovo Thinkpaid X1 Tablet has screen error with its light instability?
