Thank you for this ! I managed to get my hands on this model for 380€ a few weeks ago and upgrade my M.2 drive ! Word of caution: if you have the 4G + sim card version be very carefull when you pull on the top left side of the screeen: the antenna stuck to the LDC with the clips and it has 2 copper tape parts that tore off when I pulled on it. The model in the video shows @ 08:38 , two black plastic spacers ( with even 6 holes top left and 4 holes on the right of the camera assembly - right to the white label) this is where the antenna is located -> i tore the left one. I had some aluminium tape to fix it and an before an update I was left withoud connection to my 4G network. Also, the PCIE slot above the SSD is where the 4G + GPS card is located. see 09:44.
I have been using the Lenovo X1 Tablet gen 3 for 2 years, it works very reliably with a Samsung 2 TB EVO Plus nvme SSD Read Data 3400 MB in a second and 3300 MB write in a second 300000 IOps in a tablet how cool is that the. Nice product, thanks to the Lenovo developers.
My ThinkPad X1 Tablet Gen3 refused to boot a couple of months ago. I had to send it in to service to have it fixed. But they told me that there is no way for me to remove or get access to the storage before sending it in as opening it up would void the warranty. There was also no service facilities in my country for this model. I had to send it abroad. Storage is always accessible on other Lenovo products... except on this one. At least now I know how it looks on the inside. Thanks for the video!!!
Is it possible to buy the WWAN card and install it yourself like on older T and X ThinkPad? I loved how easy to dissasemble looks. Microsoft and Apple should learn a bit from Lenovo about how to cleverly hide screws in order to get the sleek look without compromising repairability
Cover the chip area with kapton tape, and cut the chplets of cpu and gpu area with a detailing knife.. and use liquid metal.. Thermals will be greatly improved.. i did this with gen 2
Great video...I have this tablet with a 512gb hard drive and was wondering if I could upgrade it to 1tb...looks like the hard drive is the only upgradeable part, thank God I opted for 16gb of memory.
Hi, thanks for watching, usually i'm not buying them for my self, unfortunately i'm not a millionaire, some of devices people sending to me for review for tests or benchmarks and i'm having them for short time only, other devices they are personal mine.
Hello, I have the same model, the Touch function on screen stopped working after a factory reset. Hasn't worked now for 6 months, even after several driver installs. Is there a cable that controls touch input that I can replace, to the screen.
wow this is a nice video, many thanks. But i have a question, whats that additional 2240 slot on top of the 256gb intel NVME? Is it another storage expansion slot that can be used ? since 256gb intel NVME is a 2280 type? Thanks
I bought one of these off eBay, and it works great so far, but Bluetooth appears disconnected in Device Manager. Reinstalling the drivers didn't fix the problem, so I thought that maybe one of the WiFi/Bluetooth card cables got loose? I really want to check inside but I haven't had any problems with the WiFi signal, which makes me think that maybe it's a different problem causing this. Does anyone have any tips?
While gaming through an EGPU my CPU temps get up to 100 degrees celsius and starts thermal throttling. Do you think that changing the thermal compound will make a difference or does the stock compound seem good enough? Also great video! Typed this out on my Thinkpad X1 Tablet, love this keyboard.
People need to bring awareness to Lenovo’s HORRIBLE shipping delays. Many of their products have bright green banners that say “SAME DAY SHIPPING” and ships out same day if ordered by 2PM EST. That’s complete lies and false advertisement (yes, I know there’s fine print but screw the fine print... they shouldn’t be allowed to advertisement those kinds of claims if they can’t deliver on it). I am just one of many that received shipping delayed emails. It does no one good to review this products and praise them if Lenovo can’t get it into consumer’s hands.

Thank you so much bro! I needed to replace the battery and I added more thermal paste while I had it open. Couldn't have done it without this video.
How did you get the battery out ?

Dude that was the best unboxing video I have ever seen. Good work. How do you like this machine?
it's great
At least it's serviceable, unlike Surface device junks.
Great video.

yes
Lenovo seems to have a page with detailed video instructions on how to disassemble the device. Not standard in these times.

thank you for the useful video. Why is the paste only on the one surface on the CPU? What is the other surface on the left? Should it be pasted too?
Awesome video!

Thanks for the teardown. Do you buy these devices yourself? Do you keep them afterwards?

Wait is there no thermal paste on HD620 die? Mine is the same, not sure if that's designed...
You're right, i don't know the real reason why it so, but i haven't noticed any thermal issues with the GPU
Next to the m.2 SSD slot, there's another empty slot for another shorter m.2 drive isn't there?
It's WWAN slot
@@ITFIX thanks, bud
So I can upgrade storage myself yes?
as you wish, this is your tablet
is it possible to replace those soldered memory modules? thinking of force upgrading my 8gb ram :D
no, or It will be difficult, your need to have some skills in soldering
The upgrade with resoldering can fail even when you have proper skills and equipment.
