You want to limit gout attacks? Avoid SALT intake, avoid any drinks with fructose syrup, avoid diet soft drinks because the sugar substitute in those drinks raise your uric acid. Excessive sugar intake raises uric acid. Red meat does not raise your uric acid as much as poultry does. Organ meats are the only meats that flare up gout in less than 24 hours. Uric acid is hereditary. No matter what medicine is prescribed to you, be it colchicine allopurinol, or endomethicine, you will still get gout. I was on three different doses of allopurinol 80 mg 120 mg and 200mg and I still got gout. The bad thing about allopurinol that she didn’t tell you is that once you start it you will get gout flares in the first few months because as the drug pushes out the uric acid you will get gout flares. Even after months of using allopurinol you will still get gout. Prednisone is the only drug that will rid gout attacks with a shot of toradol for the inflammation
I'm happy with allopurinol. I can eat what I want and still get no gout attacks. I guess I should change to a healthier diet for added insurance. I had no gout flare ups with allopurinol - starting it or even when I ran out for a week. I'm going to begin an exercise program (ha, ha) to reduce weight and be healthier. So far I get started and then quit after 4 or 5 weeks. Before allopurinol, I was having continuous gout attacks - at least once a month and sometimes more. I bought a uric acid monitor -- but since I'm no longer having gout attacks I have not used it even once. I guess I should poke myself and take a blood sample since I bought it. Glad you found meds that work for you. I only started taking meds, because I had a gout attack of my lower back joints. It was totally incapacitating and the pain excruciating. This gout attack lasted for months. Life became unbearable almost and I couldn't even drive due to the PAIN.
I don't know if any doctor in the US able to treat gout gone completely. I have a friend in Laos has gout. He went to a clinic in Laos for gout treating. Doctor gave him one bag of IV and he had to stay in the clinic all day. That IV cleans all uric acid from his body, then the end of the day he can go home and no more gout. Inconceivable!

Question: After Alopurinol block the formation of Uric Acid from Purine. What chemical is formed insteat of Uric Acid? How does rhe body remove this waste product form the system ? Obviously we cannot store the waste product in our body indefinately.🙏
