I have both, and both started after illness i had at 16-both exactly at same time. I never overate or drank alcohol, so I am very glad that recently new study suggested gout actually might be autoimmune. At least in some individuals. Every medical proffesional I saw kept telling me to change my bad habits(literally only advice/treatment I got)-totally useless advice in my case. I even went to nutrionist to help me make menu suitable for gout...and on second session she admitted menu she gave me was for diabetes-which i dont have-, because she had no clue what to with me.
@@maearcher4721 : I hope you got the help you wanted. But just in case, you’re still suffering through this: It might not be a terrible idea to figure out if you’ve got a uric acid problem. If this is the case, and it is for most people who suffer with gout, then you may have an easier time things going forward. Uric acid can be present in foods that are high in purine, like seafood and red meat, and it can collect in your joints as crystals that are really painful. And you know the damage that they do. If gout is the only problem that you’re having, and I’m not saying that it’s not terrible enough by itself, then, maybe it would be a good idea to check to see if oxalates might be an issue. They are a little different, and present in lots of foods like almonds, for example, but they build up in certain tissues in your body, and then, if you happen to have fewer of them in your diet, for a little time, then your body starts to release those oxalates from the other tissues, into the bloodstream to equalize the concentration. They can bond together, and become crystals that do terrible things like really hurt your joints; they can cause problems with kidney stones or cause micro cuts along your blood vessels. If that’s the case, then it’ll be important to very slowly reduce the amount of oxalates in your diet as you go, preferably with professional guidance. You don’t want to have more than maybe 4% or so difference in the amount in your overall diet, at a time, so that you don’t end up having to deal with this issue. mind you, if it starts to happen, then, just having an almond or something like that will often be enough to put enough back in your bloodstream to stop your body from dumping it from the rest of your tissues into your bloodstream. At this point, in your shoes, I would definitely want to go find a different nutritionist or dietitian, and maybe I would look up the types of foods that contain uric acid, purines, and oxalates. when shopping for that, Professional, I would ask if he or she has experience in successfully, treating gout, patients, in reducing, or stopping the pain and halting the progression of the gout. In your shoes, (Which is easy enough for somebody else to say), I might even keep a food journal of every thing that goes in my diet for the space of a few weeks, and note any difference in the way I feel, and the way my joints present. Because it may not happen right away. There’s a little lag there because food usually takes a few days to go through your body and for your body to react. And you may even have to be thinking in terms of getting the symptoms of one under control, and then going after the symptoms of the other form that you have. But I imagine that right now any improvement that you experience in one or the other, would be a real blessing, so it probably wouldn’t be too difficult to be patient enough to address one before the other. The only thing about addressing one issue at a time is that if you eliminate or systematically, eliminate one class of substance from your diet, and only one, and you get a result either way, then you will know immediately what made the difference, and what symptoms are affected. But if you address more than one issue at the same time, with different causes, if one cause a problem, you will not know which one cost of the problem, and have to backtrack and start again. Take your food journal with you when you go to the new Dietitian, because it might help. And if none of that does the trick for you, then it’s not a bad idea to consider whether there was a misdiagnosis, Because sometimes two things can look alike, with different causes. And if you address the causes really thoroughly, and nothing changes over a reasonable period of time, then there’s a chance that the cause is not what you think it is. in that case, perhaps the problem is actually some other form of arthritis, or perhaps even bursitis. but it might not be a bad idea to start with looking at what you’re eating, and comparing that to the list of foods that contain uric acid in purines, and the list that contains oxalates. Just some ideas to give you a new direction to pursue with your doctor or dietician or both. ❤
I’m from Canada what do you suggest I do my dr says take tylonal. Both of my ankles are screaming at me and burning. Especially if I eat SPICY foods. I can not handle spicy food that much. Level 3 for hotness. Today and tonight they are swollen hot to touch and tylonal is not helping! Thank you for your help. Get the sever pain in the ankle bone. Plus the outside of the ankle is very swollen as I text you. It’s going on for hours and days.
All test for arthritis negative, weekly positive ANA but further test for ENA panel all r negative... having pain in my wrist fingers and feet... what can be the reason?
DrDiana. I was tested for arthritis and its all negative, I have severe joint pain in my finger, only one area, it hurts so bad like its broken, very soft and painful. Then it goes away after 2 days, then jumps to another hand, then ut goes away. After a month or two it comes back. Nobody can figure it out.😢 I'm dying with this pain, again I see specialist and Nobody can tel me what's wrong. I'm so frustrated. Thanks for the great video. Could it be that the specialist's misdiagnosed me and I have arthritis or gout? Why wouldn't it show up when she took blood tests???
that might be something that you could look up online. there’s a chance that you’re already aware of The ideas I’m about to offer, but I’ll offer them anyway on the off chance that you haven’t hit upon them yet: Is there any chance that you are/were taking diuretics or consuming beverages with diuretic properties? or maybe eating lots of red meat and seafood? there is a positive correlation-and many would say causation-between foods that are high in purines in the formation of uric acid crystals in the joints. There is a positive correlation between these substances and gout; it may have to do with hydration, since diuretics tend to decrease your level of hydration, although some might argue that a diuretic could cause a person to flush crystals out of his/her system, such as uric acid crystals, Although it’s likely that person taking diuretics or enjoying beverages with ingredients that I’m out to being diabetic, I’m more likely to lead to dehydration, which is a risk factor for uric acid crystal formation in joints. But you can probably find a better Educated mind than mine, on the matter, to give you a better answer. Just worth looking at, if you’re having problems.
I have it periodically My feet hurt, the traumatologist said to wear insoles, but what can you recommend for tablets to relieve the burning sensation? The only thing that helps is meloxicam 15 mg. Methotrexate and Medrol are not effective. 😢
Do you know of anybody in Alabama that could help my family member ? He has both of these and has been on many medications and nothing helps , it just keeps getting worse over time .. he has large knuckles and knots on his body , and he’s in pain all the time
i sprained my ankle way back 2016..and year 2022 arthritis hit the same ankle. i dont arthritis in other parts of my body only in the ankle that got sprained in 2016. was my hitstory of sprained ankle and arthritis related???
It's possible that the sprain in 2016 contributed to the arthritis in your ankle. It's always best to consult a healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.
