R.I.P to a gentleman and an amazing artist.
Thank you for this reaction. I absolutely love Jon! Awesome voice, great stage performer and actor. Affectionately known as black eyes. Much loved Aussie legend very sadly missed.
Great singer , song & a bloke in general. He also does a great cover of Bob Seger's "Turn The Page. " & so many other big hits in Austtalia. He also played lead role in a successful comedy series as well, so very versatile.
I saw Jon English in in Cairns, Australia in the mid-1980s. I am not sure of the band name that backed him, but I want to say: "The Foster Brothers?" I knew who he was, but he was a little before my time, so I was surprised how freaking good he, and his band were in live performance. It's a night that I remember out of hundreds of live Aussie band performances that I have seen.
Almost 40 years on from that night in Cairns, Jon English's music still stacks up. Brilliant.
Jon has an amazing voice! Us Aussies have what I guess we could call "a lot of hidden talent". A lot of our artists are not known worldwide, but dearly loved here in Australia. I know I'm not the only one that gets a thrill out of seeing the world discover our hidden treasures over the internet.
Pants called flares or bell bottoms
He also played Jesus christ
It's worth a look
John has passed RIP
I think welder said 80s but this was def the 70s hence the flaired pants. The only time I saw him live was his portrayal of Judas in the stage show of Jesus Christ Superstar - ‘74 , I think. He was the star.
I saw Jon live. He was flawless. Here are some other names. Russell Morris- The Real Thing or Sweet Sweet Love. Brian Cadd- Gingeer Man or Let Go, Kevin Johnson- Rock and Roll I Gave You All The Best Years of My Life. Kevin has a beautiful voice. Daryl Braithwaite, Matt Corby, Guy Sebastian. Then you need to jump over the ditch to New Zealand and check out some amazing singers like Stan Walker and Teeks.
I was lucky enough to work with Jon in the late seventies and early eighties died much to young and he did have a great voice another young pom that came to Australia in the early sixties and made a success out of singing
You are one lucky person
Thanks for sharing ypur exirience with us💪🏿💪🏿
❤❤❤
I enjoy your reactions so much.I love your descriptions of the artists and their songs. Love Jon English. He was a great singer and actor especially in TV series Against the Wind . Jon was a teenage heartthrob for me. 💕
Sadly this version omits the last verse of the song, where he watches another young woman dreaming of fame and fortune in Hollywood take a lease on the empty room across the hall ... repeating the story. Sadly we lost Jon eight years ago from complications during heart surgery, aged 66. Those trousers (pants) had flares at the bottoms.
Jimmy Barnes with John Farnham singing "When something is wrong with my baby" Jimmy Barnes is an Australian singer that I think you will like. Cheers :)
BRO ONE OF MY FIRST REACTION.

Australia has and has had some fabulous singers because they haven’t been infected by the “American ideal” of singers. A lot of these entertainers came up through the “pub scene” which was MINUS every form of musical trickery. If they couldn’t sing they didn’t survive in the scene.
I saw him a few times in Hobart back in the late 70's check the song out "she was real"
The pants wete called flares.
bell bottoms
John English played in a tv series called roots
Ummmmm yeah nah.
Roots was about American slavery.
Jon was in Against the Wind, about colonial times in Australia 👍
Look song by John English six ribbon 🎀 that's song is from the series
@@sharonconstable4483 not from Roots it's not 🤦♂️
No Against the wind! And that terrible sitcom All Together Now he played Bobby! Brilliant on the stage in the Jesus Christ Superstar as Judas and in the Pirates of Penzance
