    Take it slow! Best heli advice I've ever gotten! And try nose right and left hovering before nose in. . and always be ready to go back to your comfortable tail in hover

    A lot of people out there hate on the 230 but don’t give in, it’s a great beginner heli. After a few days of not flying I take my 230, 360, and Raw 580 to the field. First flight always on the 230 and it can fly sport pretty well, you can flat out whip it and get it up to 40mph or more off of a stall turn. Love my 230

    Yes I fly in the winter. Watch out for your Lipos getting cold, since they cannot reach their normal performance when theyre cold. If you can preheat your Lipos before you take them out. Also again, check your swashplate for being level

    Use plastic landing gear for thr 230s helicopter i think is the safest bet. Jdk of idaho. Enjoy!

    Should set a timer for like 3:30 that starts when your armed button is flipped. Then a reset timer button. Then adjust timer based on whats left in your battery after flying. The harder you fly the shorter the timer.

    I got no issues with glueing things together! Of course, there's a time to finally change busted stuff out though. lol

    Keep at it! The 230 is cheap to crash. A simulator definitely helps. It's difficult to get out of safe mode, but once you get better, safe mode actually feels weird. It takes alot of time and patience to learn the basics. When doing orientation practice, keep it lower and closer. Get used to hitting throttle hold as soon as you realize your not going to save it.

    • @SlickBackAnt
      @SlickBackAnt  Рік тому +1

    been a while since ive been flying tail in...well done for persisting...flight sim is the best for orientation at your level otherwise you waste a lot of time rebuilding them. OMP 1 and 2 are great heli's and very strong around crashes...unbelievable actually. keep with it and you will get it eventually....i am flying all my life and now as an old man am flying 3D and loving it.....oh yah

    I think the biggest weakness on these helis are the servos. They just fly a bit sloppy and I don't think it's the flight controller. I've not tried upgrading the servos but I'm certain it would have a significant improvement.

    Lipos don’t like Cold so will go soft early, especially if multiple flights on them. 😊

  • @Ryan-uu4tw
    @Ryan-uu4tw Рік тому +3

    Broken tail booms are not all that bad. Better that then the head. Just be quick to hit throttle hold before you you crash. Better to give up a second or 2 early and hit it then so you avoid burning out the expensive electronics . Do need to change the main gear if it’s a little chewed up, nasty vibrations will cause your FBL to misbehave and crash it for you.
    Your ideal gain settings change depending on the temp and humidity. Usually a little lower in the cold but not necessary until you start pushing the 230’s limits. Batteries seem to have less power in the cold as well.
    White plastic blades are nice on the 230s, you can see the angle of the disc better. Try and see if a hobby shop in the area has a sim set up, call em, if I was in your position I would drive an hour away for 20 mins of sim time. Just 20 mins will level you up.
