Thank you sir for your excellent video. It's been years since I've replaced the rotor head, this vid is great refresher course. Also, I've never replaced tail boom before, been procrastinating. The pics bonus greatly enhanced simplicity/details of procedures. My 230s v1 is getting rotor head replaced with Blade oem just like yours until I can afford micro heli cnc version. The boom on my v1 is crinkled like yours was. On my v2 it's slightly bent, always slightly slipping out from mount and deviates from vertical position by twisting regardless of how tight the 4 screws are. The v2 will receive boom crafted from purple knitting needle . The v1 will receive stock Blade oem boom.
Exactly the video I needed! Now where's the video showing you to not try hovering your new RC heli indoors just because you learned to hover outdoors! 😂
Man my chopter is always spinning the propellers with Controller off and without binding!! It's crazy how can this happens? It's a fly board problem or there's a servo that serves as a brake to avoid the main motor work even with the chopter turn off !!!
thank you for the video i had my first flight today and a tree was in the way...😄 the tail is bent just a little bit i dont know if i should replace it the heli still flys pretty good i was surprised the blades didnt break 😁
@@RCStuffvideos did that too it was bend just a little bit and I straightened it with my hands the heli takes more punishment than I expected also the flight modes are good for me as a beginner I like the 230s so far combined with a simulator it's a good way to start I think 😁
Question: I did as you did to replace my tail boom. But now my tail rotor isn't working correctly, and so my heli spins. Do you think the tail rotor motor needs replaced or the esc, or both? Thank you in advance.
Hi Richard. Would think it's more likely tail rotor. Have you double checked the tail wires are connected correctly? Is the tsil spinning at all? If so os it going in the correct direction? Have you checked the tail trim isn't out too?
@@hanspetervonderfecht7722 couldn't say fir definite what the maximum is. I mainly use 900mah slightly bigger than the stock 850. I have heard of people using 1300 or 1350 mah too which is definitely believable. There plenty of physical space for bigger than 900 and a bit of extra weight up front would help as it's slightly tail heavy. 900 mah gives plenty of flight time. I set timer for 10 minutes and thats fine for gentle flying in idle up 1. Maybe 5 or 6 minutes of going harder in idle up 2.
Hi mate cheers. Think it's MH-230S025BC. I got it from midland helicopters. There's a new heli coming soon and maybe other things so won't just be the 230 forever. Cheers
@@RCStuffvideos Thanks for the P/N. I've been flying RC fixed wing for a little while and just bought my first heli, the 230S. So I've related well with how you've been coming along on your's. Thanks again, I look forward to your content.
@@petewatts30 The stock boom is actually an aluminum tube that is soft and bends relatively easily. I'm thinking that this may be by design for a trainer heli to keep crash repair easier & cheaper. While the carbon fiber boom looks sexy and probably flies better when pushed hard, it may also tranfer crash forces to other parts of the heli. Resullting in having to change out the main frame, which is way more time consuming than the boom. I will go carbon fiber when I get past the early learning stage.
Well I am still learning Mark :) but in terms of getting the basics, I crashed maybe twice but that was mainly when flying when too windy or pushing limits too much. Would have been more without bail out / rescue mode though.
@@RCStuffvideos yes bail out is good if you press the dam button, got a bit to over confident today need main gear and Blair arms and canapy won’t be the last crash tho, ware you from.thx mark.
I binned mine today, just started drifting like mad close to the grass, skid hit grass and blades ate dirt, didn't get TC on fast enough, stripped main gear. 😭

Hey man is the carbon tail boom stronger than the metal?

Good idea! What you flying there?

I took the screw out to replace the rotor head but mine won't just pop off like it did in the video. I don't want to bend anything. Any advice?
You probably fixed it by now but I had the same problem with mine.. I just spent it clockwise till it came off

Nice one yeah those trees tend to pop up at the most unfortunate times. I think I just straightened the tail out again on my 230s once.

I have a question. What akku size will fit max in this model? MXM by the way.
Sorry I don't understand. What's akku? And what's MXM? Thanks
@@RCStuffvideos ähm battery i schould say.

Tail boom looks more stylish than the stock plastic.

You did not check the main shaft

Nooooooooo. Not the bin. You could replace the main gear. I have before. Or even sold it for parts.

Did you understand the drift reason ? I had the same on mine. Disgusted.
