WHAAAT!?!?! It's safe to say this is one of the biggest breakthroughs in sound design and music production, since the dawn of synthesis in general. Beyond ground-breaking. Magnus Lidström, you are a bona fide pioneer and a living legend. Seriously!! You deserve the highest awards and accolades for accomplishing this genopatch tech. I've been producing music for about 37 years so far. And just when I thought I'd just about seen and heard it all, in music technology... Even as I watch the video, see and hear it working, I can't believe this is real life - let alone begin to wrap my head around how you managed to pull this off. Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor... Just WOW!

Whoa... I love that it gives the ability to look at how it replicated the sound. Which lets you learn new techniques for sounds you might make in the future on other synths! Crazy!

AI has been beneficial for pretty much everything. Humanity's systems are the only thing that causes pain.
Forcing people into a near-slavery system where they have to decide between doing what they love and being an artist is something to be mad about.
AI images and AI music and AI writing has always been the natural progression, and once again a tool is inert until used for good or ill
I can almost hear the response:
"AI is going to take people's jobs, make skills obsolete, etc"
I think you mean "Instead of realizing we can uplift and provide for every born citizen in every country in the world through mass cooperation because humanity has achieved a productivity that is unheard of, we will simply continue doubling down on winning the game of infinite expansion and money hoarding on a planet with dwindling resources and a half-dying ecosystem, and the gains you otherwise would have gotten from this increase in productivity will be swallowed up by capital interests who had no hand in creating it. They will replace you and the world will not provide for you because you are not the priority of capital. Capital is the priority of capital."

@@d3tuned378thankfully once ai populates most of the data online, the ai will start to self regulate itself and grow corrupt. Preventing it from actually getting to a level that it would crash society as we know it. I love ai. But I think if it grows exponentially it will not end up well. Things would get much much worse before it gets better. For society to completely change as you described, a long dark winter of suffering will happen before it. I think it's best to prevent that.

Awesome in every sense of the word! If I may, I wonder if it could make use of key-tracking, giving it a sample at more than one frequency/note. Like a piano at A0, A3, A5, A7... while this might need an additional piece for the engine to "morph" across more than one section. But then it would get close to carving out a big chunk of the sampling market along with brutally novel powers for sound emulation and generation. Anyway, this is flipping stunning and beautiful! I'd be all over this for sure, even already just to let its solutions inspire me. Fantastic stuff!

When Magnus said "any synth", my immediate thoughts was this algorithm might get swooped up by someone and added to their synth. Imagine if something like Phase Plant, Serum or something Massive had access to this algorithm. Thankfully, this looks amazing and such a worthy sequel to Synplant 1 and I love the random but intuitive hands on approach to sound design in Synplant, especially if you're a blank canvas and you need inspiration.

    • @truecuckoo
      @truecuckoo  Рік тому

I think the benefit of having it integrated deeply into a software synth is that the engine can be run at hyper speed, to generate hundreds of incremental variations much faster than real-time for analysis. With hardware synths, that will be a challenge. It might be that it would run really slowly because it’d be restricted to real-time sound rendering.

THANK you BOTH for this super engaging insightful dive into what I can already safely say is one of the most advanced sound creation tools soon on the market. It is Exactly this kind of Thoughtful investment of Time and Effort to bring a new sound machine to the world that causes Revolutions for not only musicians, but also Types of Music. I sense big waves being generated by Synplant2. I love the fact we can trigger sounds in different ways through various creative controls for the branches. It's not only an advanced sound creation tool, but also clean and beautiful interface. I though this about the first one. I recall my first time opening up the gene manipulation on a Synplant seed long ago. I thought I had hacked into something that might trigger a rocket launch somewhere. I loved moving the little nodes not knowing -exactly- all they may be doing, but I understand the desire for clarity... and practicality. It is a beautiful creation, Magnus! My jaw came off my skull when I heard the AI in the process of 'testing' its way to sound candidates. I've been messing w sound toys hw and sw for many yrs and That took my brain into the future. So excited to use and misuse this feature. A side note about your side story on warming your brother's house with GPU's... When I was taking a basic course on working with electrical components for my job the instructor was telling us that a side effect of moving away from old style of light bulb was that it was costing more to heat homes now. So the old light bulbs we used around the house were generating quite a bit of infra warming and now nearly every light in the house is using bulbs that put off almost no heat. I thought that was an interesting similarity to where you were speaking about over-learning the AI. Anyway, enough chatter... THANKS in advance for Synplant2. I'm waiting with FM Bells on buddy! Thanks Cuckoo so much for doing an excellent interview!

That AI engine! 🤯 Magnus you are an absolute legend! Can't wait to get this update, it will be a game changer! One question: Are the DNA parameters automatable in Synplant 2? Thank you 🙏

Microtonic is such a great snappy drumengine. The people behind Sonic Charge have a very good combination of skills, ideas and marketing strategy with reasonable pricetags.
I definitly will upgrade my Synplant 1. Happy to support them.

It would be awesome to apply this neural net to elektron synth architectures and make patches for them that way too

Very impressive . uTonic has been in my tool box for a long time looking forward to adding it's comrade soon !
BTW if Magnus is reading. ... uTonic ported to VCV Rack and broke into separate modules ; Voice and Sequencer respectively with all the parameters having CV Mods would be Fun and Amazing !

I can’t wait till this technology can program other softsynths for you - Have neural net learn something like DIVA in and out, or any other synth that will give you complete midi CC control over all the functions and parameters.
