- Synplant 2 is a SUPER unique software instrument that can generate and mutate sounds from samples (amongst other things). I think it's bonkers. Let's check it out and throw a ton of sounds at it to see how it fares.

My favorite parts are where Jeremy gets a look that flashes across his face like he's Willy Wonka and he's stumbled upon a confection that is exquisitely delicious but also might kill people in some wildly outlandish manner.
Your deep dive into synplant has been the most comprehensive review and demo out there. So many other reviewers really did not do this synth justice like you have. Kudos
Perfectly stated.
The amen break portion was the funniest shit man. Amen farts, truly an industry game changer
17:37 Seems like just the coolest, quickest, most fun to do IDM and Neuro Drops with this. Put down a beat, sync Synplant, and go ham on the Modwheel. Record, chop, maybe process a little further here and there - done!
7:08 pretty much spot on same reaction, couldn't agree more
Gotta say, turning the Amen Break into a fart machine is pretty damn cool.
Amen.
I’m so glad you actually understand this instrument and are showing people how great it is.
usign Amen Break as reference to synthesize most gnarliest synth farts, wow.
Hey Jeremy. Your videos on Synplant 2 have been the most comprehensive out there. Bought it the first day and have been having a lovely time with it. Have learned so much from your vidz, spanning back to your first Erica Synths LXR vid which was how I discovered your channel. Just wanted to say thanks for all you do!
The world needed this Jeremy, thank you
12:34 The second I knew about this I thought of Lorne.
I love how much fun you seem to have playing with it! And the melodies you come up with testing a pad or a sound ❤️ You are great! Please have a wonderful day as well and thank you for your music and videos!
Thank you so much!
Love the sections where you slap a simple beat on a weird sound and make a whole jam out of it.
'SUCH A WEIRD SOUND. THAT'S WHAT I'M HERE FOR.' Me Too. :) Thank You
Synplant is so amazing...
I chuckled when you loaded the "Watschn" sample at 14:40 - "Watschn" is Bavarian for a slap in the face.
19:35 that part was so funny. It evens farts right in your face at 19:38
This was super-fun! This is totally what makes Synplant great. How many sounds and song-starting ideas did you get in this session. Incredible.
really enjoyed this!
Thanks for these videos, pretty much the only videos I would consider super helpful for this plug-in. And allowed me to know for sure that I want to save up for it
When it does 'yaaaas' I'm reminded of the scene from Star Trek Voyage Home when Ohura is running The Probe sound through filters to make it sound underwater.
I love what it did to drums. It would be awesome to be able to use all those variations as round robins for a drum kit plugin.
9:09 - 10:16 I really liked this segment. It's great that you mentioned Boards of Canada, I've been listening to them for a long time.
24:54 - 25:34 Another great sound, reverb, distortion, drone.
You bring Joy to my life...'nuf said.
25:04 that's some Blade Runner shit
I've played with that exact Keppler sample before, so that had my head spinning for a second. Holy shit this was a delightful journey.
waiting for 10-hour video with Jeremy saying "yaaaas"
This is sooo fun!
Sold!! Would pick up eventually for use in Ableton, but would buy now if it was on ios!
The didge was gnarly. I'm sold on the strength of your two vids. I've seen others that seem to have missed the point. 18:00 This is most definitely batshit crazy and I'm sold even more.
18:00 was damn near an entire Mr Oizo song being invented on the fly!
17:35 sounds like my brain folding in on itself during an acid trip. I love it.
This is mintox. I love the bit where you drop the kick in and groove out for a bit. I want that track @ 18:00
Man, I would like to see you make a whole song out of this in [INSERT MUSIC PRODUCTION TOOL HERE].
26:41 Wilhelm wheeze
17:40 Seems to me this is one of several things that Synplant really excels at. The loop imitation was nowhere near perfect, but the mutations that happened when you used the modwheel were extraordinary and couldn't be done any other way. It's a unique tool!
I'm impressed, can't lie. This is only going to get better - or worse. "you used my sample" "No I didn't, I reconstructed it", heh. I really enjoyed a lot of the interim sounds it produced while it tried to re-create, and that's only the tip of the iceberg, as the crazy morphing leafy thing started to create some really obscure permutations. I'm all for it. The FM on 2 oscillators is the limitation (as daft as shit as that sounds) is the limiting factor but maybe, there will be more operands for more complex stuff in later versions - hopefully.
I messed around with the demo of the first Synplant and I love weird stuff, I'm an old Reaktor addict, and love messing around with VCV Rack, so its not that I did not appreciate Synplant, I guess I couldn't get that much more out of it than I was already getting from other weird sound making stuff. These days I try to focus on actually making tunes but to me the best stuff is both weird noise and music of course. So, I got the Synplant 2 demo a few weeks ago and I thought, this is almost there, so maybe its just me, I don't know how to get it where itsounds like it could go. OK, from your videos, yes thats clear, its just me, so thanks for showing me it is possible to do some really awesome stuff with Synplant 2. That weird bit crusher effects thing that Sonic Charge makes is also just sick as hell, I want to try that with Synplant before the demo expires. As if you needed to get even more stuff than Synplant, but you put that effects on it and I'm sure it gets doubly mind meltingly crazy and good to boot.
I really want to play with this thing :) It seems awesome❤
Reason why I love the bass station II post Aphex Twin edition is per note presents. Come to think of it this sounds like 90% of Richards sounds haha
15:55 Yay kick generator!
I tend to use this as a layering tool, the low end is handled by another plug-in while Synplant handles the high end .
Interface window looks like a washing machine to me but i'm not normal. Rinse and spin those samples!
this synth shows me and us, the only borders in producing is our imagination and not our equipment! one question: can you create and edit every note seperated?
00:01 alex horne vibes i mean it as a compliment
I want to create a preset and then sample it back into itself to see how close it gets the settings.
that clap sound was called watschn 😂
Question. If you run the same exactly clip of sound more than once, do you get different results every time?
Spit out my coffee when you brought out the Reddit sex song omg .
A "solid" fart :D Then it's not a fart anymore bruh :) thanks for video
I think a good idea would be to take all your out-of-tune drum hit samples sitting on your hard drive and tune them for specific songs. Would seem easier than some other methods. Just load the preset and hit the right key, with hopefully less length/pitch issues.
Smart
Is it wrong that I just bought Synplant 2 for the sole purpose of running farts through it?
This is the way
Synplant. The hardware GAS remedy herb 🌿
Hey Jeremy i think this video is not listed. Is this on purpose?
while syplant couldnt resynth the amen break, jeremy could do it!
32 minutes to Cbat
i want to pop in a sample, resample and repeat
I think it's an awesome and creative instrument but unfortunately it doesn't have enough punch in the low end and after resynthesis the initial transients are weak. It's merely a VST.
Beside that I love it for doing experimental sounds on the fly; and I love that it never sounds like an original sample, as the result often sounds far more interesting. Synplant adds its own thing, what is great. I exclusively use this instrument for its resynthesis engine. 😊
18:12 :) :) :)
I think this encapsulates how we should use ai.
Like a child with to much paint, AI can create an infinite amount of mess.
But when we, the humans, experience it we’ll know directly if it is of use or if it is good.
0/10 did not include the ambatukam I posted
Does it get close to analog sounding if you put a big ol moog sample in there? A nice rubbery bass pluck?
Pretty much most old school monosynths are easy for synplant to replicate. Moogs, Rolands, etc... better to have a few kilobytes of synth presets than hundreds of megabytes (terabytes?) of samples on your harddrive!
No, it's still sounding like a plugin. It can't replicate the punch and transients of cutting analog sounds. The low end just isn't comparable with analog synths.
But, Synplant 2 is an awesome instrument with which you can get creative very fast and in unusual ways.
