- Rockapella sings Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? on ABC Good Morning America
June 3 1993
#GoodMorningAmerica #WhereInTheWorldIsCarmenSandiego? #Rockapella
The bass guy's semi-hidden, braided rat tail is the source of his deep voice powers.
I need reaction channels to check out Rockapella
Nope. It's his third testicle. That what it is for all of us basses.
He's got that big braid energy😂😂
As so the legend says. Lol
The legend also states that his braded rat tail is made up of not just his hair..but his band mates hair intertwined as well. Together they make one giant rat tail that summons said powers.
Todays kids will never understand how much this show and song meant to us 90s kids.
I was really too old for this show in the 90s and I watched it all the time-loved it.
adults too
this was a great show
Definitely. There want nearly as much content in the world.
Don't forget about the game too
Being born in the 90s doesn't make you a 90s kid.
Im 42 now. I loved this show back in the day. Id come home from school and it would be on PBS. I imagine a lot of the people reading this are about the same age.
Feel the same. I'm 44.🙂
Same as you, we were the perfect age bracket for this show.
Yep. 43 here. I watched this every day.
I'm almost 44 but I feel the same way. It was such a good show.
I'm glad some of the episodes are still on UA-cam.
39 ❤❤🎉🥳😶🌫️💯
Love how the guy with the deep voice smiles when everybody stops to let him say Carmen Sandiego 😂
That’s Barry
He came to my besties dad's bday party. ... It was quite a moment.
Man, that song still kicks now just as hard.
It's the part everybody's waiting for!!! 😄
His name is Barry Carl. He was definitely having too much fun with it, since that was his part. 😅
Can we just appreciate ..a. the lyrics.. b. The singing c. The HAIR!!
And their facial expressions
d. the nostaglia. e. the energy. f. the FUN. g. ...well you get the idea...
The hair is monumental.
The guy on the left, they surprise cut his long hair on one of the last episodes. 😂
And the outfits
This is the most 90s thing I’ve ever watched and I absolutely love it
Why do you love it?
@@Anthony-od4ou I think the question you should be asking is "why don't I love it?"
All those rat tails
Not a 90's kid?
While this is definitely the best of her two theme songs, it's also worth seeing the other Carmen Sandiego '90s theme from the other TV show if that's your kind of thing. :)
Though I'd also say Chip and Dale most of the Disney cartoons had some great themes as well. Chip and Dale get special mention for the Magnum PI meets Indian Jones fashion choices.
Isn't it THE BEST!!!? 💕
That bass voice is an icon in itself.
Now that I’m older I can REALLY appreciate how freaking talented these dudes are.
I can still see Lynne Thigpen signing off as she always played the role of the chief. Rest In Peace Lynne.
Her death was so sad!
@@saraschneider6781 yes it truly was. She passed away too young.
Anyone else remember her as the DJ from The Warriors movie?
@@bigguy130and the angry, obnoxious mother from Lean on Me and the righthand woman to the chief in The District…she was severely underrated as an actress
Even today, as a security guard, I remember the Acme Triangle.
* Vigilance
* Dedication
* Courage
Thank you, Chief Thigpen.
This needs to be preserved in the National Archives.
As long as Carmen Sandiego doesn't steal it!
Totally agree!
Paired with the netflix version
The blonde gentleman absolutely cranks! I'll never forget being a gumshoe on the old computer game.
Was a grown-ass woman in grad school playing that computer game and I remember the visuals as well as many of the capitals and natural resources to this very day.
The blonde definitely felt like he was Mick Jagger in this band
A little searching finds that this is Scott Leonard, and that he is, remarkably, still singing with the group (the only Carmen Sandiego alumnus who can make that claim) and is their main songwriter-arranger.
I loved that game!
I didn't get my own computer until I was 18. So I played this game at school. Never got past the first level but I had fun.
90s were the absolute best time to be a kid.
I went from 8 to 18 during the 90s. Great decade to be a kid.
@@addamtate1230 Born in 1980, went from 9-19 lol it truly was the best. lived the best of both worlds, no internet to having it in your home, the best music,tv,etc.
@@ApparentlyMe we got the internet before social media. meaning, before things went to hell.
You ain’t lying, the best cartoons, the best toys, the best kid shows ever.
I disagree it was the 80s. I was in high school when the show was out but I love it still
That HAIR took guts to pull off even in the early 90's. Clothing from Saved by the Bell days, a lot of memories!
DO IT ROCKAPELLA!!! Kids nowadays will never know the joy of this show... Those were the days
I sure did,every day!
Lol Netflix rebooted it in 2019 and there are 4 seasons. A lot of kids still learn about the world from Carmen San Diego. BELIEVE IT OR NOT - you're not special because you're a "90's kid". Go take your Dunkaroos and Jawbreakers and get out of here lol
@@JackieDaytona1776 I sure will thanks 😂😂😂😂
@@JackieDaytona1776 if you're saying that to me,all I said was I enjoyed Carmen Sandiego back in the 90s. I did not say I was special because I was around for all the 90s stuff and I even believe that the 2019 Netflix version is just as good and educational as the 90s game show. That's all I was merely saying.
@@JackieDaytona1776 your jealousy is showing
You can tell the bass loves his line just by his expression every time he says it
🤣🤣
I saw these guys perform when I was a little girl. The guy with the deep voice told us that he had seen more corn on the trip than he had at any other time, and the audience laughed. We lived in Michigan at the time.
That's an interesting story.
I saw them at South Street Seaport..along with a whole Carmen show 💕💕💕
There is SO much corn...I saw so much corn on a road trip ftom Minnesota to Florida
Did no one ever note how incredible a line like "Steal their SEOUL in South Korea" is?
no not really. It's a pun. The song is full of them...
@@tomatodamashi Exactly that's why I love it.
I’ll soon be 35 years old this summer….. man this was my show back then
Greatest mullet of all time
I'm glad all 6 audience members decided to clap! C'mon people this performance deserved better!
This looks like it was done in a TV studio, not a concert hall. There were probably only 6 other people there, and probably only room for those 6 people.
GMA has no "studio audience." It's the on air talent and the tech crew and that's it.
Hahahahahahaahahahahaha!!!!
it’s a tv studio, there was probably only five people not working the cameras there in total 🤣
🤣
Most people don't appreciate the pure talent and skill this takes... So good. Mad respect and mas Kudos to Rockapella.
As someone from the Chicago suburbs with Czech ancestry, I was nuts for the Chicago to Czechoslovakia line.
I actually got to see these guys perform live on Boston Common when I was 8. This was just about their only kid-friendly song.
This song never gets old.
You can say that again
Right on!
it's 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Fun fact: Lynne Thigpen, the Chief, was the voice (and lips) on the radio in The Warriors. "All right now, for all you boppers out there."
90s hair was such a wild ride. So many options, such variety.
this song was the hook for me. I love their harmony and it made me watch the entire episode
Best Bass Ever
This song will never not be EVERYTHING! I anticipated coming home from school to watch this everyday! My geography skills sucked but I LOVED THIS SHOW SO MUCH. SUCH NOSTALGIA! We were all gumshoes weren’t we?
Loved this show, the animated show and the video games. Carmen San Diego was a BIG part of my childhood. Do it Rockapella!
One of the most epic theme songs and absolutely the most epic hair from the eighties.
Such a good Acapella group. They also did a lot of great Dave Matthews covers.
Wait...WHAT????
@@Tropicalpisces ya. For real
I loved it when they showed up on Spike Lee's show to sing Zombie Jamboree.
My kids watched the whole show just to get to this song at the end. They didn’t even realize they were learning anything for a long time. Good times, and these guys could siiiing!
Pitch Perfect 4 should be that all other a capella groups in the world are captured and its up to Rockapella to save them with their impeccable OG flavor
Awesome memories from an awesome a cappella group
I remember so badly wanting to go on this show as a kid.
Priceless. Our kids always were glued to this show when it came on.
People keep talking about the bass guy, but the contra tenor is no slouch. He can belt with the best.
I just needed the “ do it Rockapella!” Ah good memories.
DO IT ROCKAPELLA!!! Oh yeah I never missed this game show on WQED/PBS back during my early 90's childhood!
I am a 95' baby born March 1995 and grew up with many great shows and discovered this group and love it so much, I met an author at New York Comic Con who worked at Jim Henson company and wrote Fragle Rock books and such and bought his latest book, shows like this I love to this day and will show to my children one day for them to love
This gives me so much old school Moxy Fruvous vibes. LOVE
I bet Carl was once the King of Spain.
I'm glad that I can remember this band despite them being older than me.
They've probably been doing this longer than most UA-cam users have been alive :P
Forget the animated series, this was the REAL deal!
This feels like it needs to be a SNL skit. Also, that BRAID!
There actually was one for Kelly Ann Conway 😂😂😂
This was a great show and Rockapella is so talented carried so much of the pace of the show...a real classic!
Loved that show as a kid.
Loved that show as a grownup!
I used to run home to watch this show!! Looking back, she was always in Botswana 😂
41. grew up with this. Thank you
This is a true 90s performance!!! Great childhood memories 🎉🎉🎉
Am I the only one that still remembers the entire thing after all these years?
Probably.
no…it stands out for all of the right reasons
And of course all.of us are singing right along with this song. This was such an awesome show. I would watch it ( even through I was in high school) with my little brother still in elementary. I would to see this show brought back. I would so be watching it even if my little wasn't around.
This will alway's be my go to Carmen theme period.😂
PBS Days in the 90's I used to watched this with my Cousins Jamaal, Munchie, Bassy, CJ, Sweety, Tweety, Tay, Danny, and Romeo.
Now I was almost 21 when the show premiered, but all the buzz around it made me want to check it out. Man, was I thrilled when I heard Rockapella start singing. I was already a fan from their other TV appearances, and this was just great! Not only singing the theme song, but also vocalizing the main game think music and the bonus round clock..."Ooh-ma-mow-tick-tick"😊
The Carmen Sandiego guy used to narrate marlboro commercials🤣
I was in my 20s in the 90s but sometimes saw the show. Its so 90s its giving me schmecklas!
Thank you WGN for showing us this gem a few weeks ago!!!!!
I’m happy that Netflix reboot introduced me to this mega awesome song it’s so 90’s, I love it❤
I can't stop watching this.
I always loved this song and the show! And seeing Charlie Gibson the way he looked when I was a kid. What a nostalgia trip!
This was amazing. Lyrics are great too.
I'm 37, and I remembered this like it was yesterday! Wow!
Memory unlocked!
I love how the new show payed homage to this song
Ahhhh, thank you so much for preserving this; it's amazing to go back and see them having so much fun performing such a goddamn bop
I want to be young again. 😞
Talent
My childhood just called 😂 take me back!!! I loved this show.
Ok so as a kid I loved the show and the band I mean the band was amazing to me. Honsetly it still is I mean these guys could be anywhere and start out singing this song and with no insturments needed Most people would not expect a thing
The way they create the music with thier voice is amazing to me. Perhaps was more amazing as a kid bu it still is now
Song is a certified banger.
They were the best!!!!! LOVE Rockapella!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Glad i found this. Its been in my head since the 90s. Never thought id see this again.
Iconic band. Timeless song.
Business in the front, absolute fucking rager in the back😅
My kids loved this show. And I fell in love with Rockapella
Saw them live in like 95 or 96 and it was very cool seeing them live
*saw
This song takes me all the way back 😊
I absolutely love this ❤️ but no one can ever top the Animaniacs world geography song
Mmm... Alright. I'll give Animaniacs the geography trophy. But this song has way more clever lyrics.
Thanks SO much for uploading this long lost gem!!! made my year!!
My niece used to watch Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego. 😍
I love Rockapella Sean Elliott Scott Barry and Jeff the best a cappella group for me because I saw them in Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego
Actually Jeff only appeared during the fifth and final season. He joined in 93 but didn't take part until 2 years later (Rockapella was made up of Brown U. alums and didn't have a vocal percussionist until their 6th year.)
im still singing this in my head everyday
These guys are so good
Why as an adult I tuned in to that show every day.
Me too I loved it even though I was in my 30s.
Same. Was in grad school and also had the computer game.
Thank you so much for uploading a true classic, never gets old 90's gem! I always had the show on and even wrote a letter on how to appear or try to appear on the show but alas, never heard anything. Doesn't faze me though I still cherish and love the show and hold it dear to me. Thanks again!
My favourite version of this of all time.
Show of hands how many people cannot stop themselves from singing along.
This was such a great show. And we all learned so much about geography along the way.
I used to love this show even as a young teen at 13.
These guys killed it!
I played the game on the Apple ||GS in middle school and later watched the game show at home. This song really brings back the memories.
We need to bring these kinds of shows back!! ❤
I saw them live at the Ridgefield Playhouse in CT back in the day. They were amazing in a small space. They did this song, as well as the Folger’s Coffee commercial.
I love this sooo much!! Remember watching everyday after school!! The nostalgia this invokes!!!
I watched this probably 20 times today
Saw them live....
I miss the show. I also miss the game show as well. those were fun to watch.
Legends
This song was literally such a bop. Still can't get it out of my head since the 90s haha
