These men are GOLD. I remember them from the late 90's but they just sound so in harmony! A group that is so wonderful with their voices, doing it with no special touches with their singing. My friends, this is pure talent here.
It did, new spin, new angle. Young Carmen is actually a good guy chasing the real thieves, but Interpol doesn't believe it, so we still get the chases and gadgets and stuff, interesting animation style and good voice acting :)
Ive seen these guys live and there is NO lip-syncing whatsoever. before you say crap about them, see them perform live and you will be blown away at how amazing these guys are. Scott, the main singer with blonde locks, has such a powerful voice with such amazing range that he has mastered pulling the mic away when his voice is too much for the techonology to project :)
I love this original group. Barry was the best. Jeff Thatcher is the best vocal percussionist ever! And the the Carmen Sandiego song was my favorite as a child. So many memories...
Ok I just got back from seeing them live and I have to say nothing can compare to actually seeing them live. Jeff Is so amazing the dynamics of his percussion talents are phenomenal. They are funny, and serious all in one show. A couple of their songs almost brought me to tears they were so perfectly pitched. If you ever have a chance to see them live I highly suggest that you do. You will not be disappointed at all
WHAT HAPPENED TO GOOD SHOWS LIKE THIS THAT COME ON TV TO TEACH KIDS THINGS AND BE FUN AT THE SAME TIME?!?!?! MOST OF THE KIDS I TALK TO THESE DAYS CAN'T FIND THEIR OWN STATE ON A MAP YET ALONE THE UNITED STATES! WTF?! WE NEED SHOWS LIKE THIS BACK ON PBS!
And the government forces these kids to “learn” algebra in 2nd grade, this is why there’s a huge problem. These shows are gone and the school boards want these kids in college by the age of 10 now. It’s moronic.
batman88891 course she is! She dyed her hair & ditched the hat & trench coat 4 a better disguise. Every genius thief, spy or undercover cop knows u need good disguise! lol
I remember watching the Carmen Sandiego trivia show when I was a kid and really enjoying the vocal skills of these guys. Although, they never broke it down like this.
I used to watch that show when I was younger. I'm 44 and I can honestly tell you, they do NOT make cartoons like they used to! The toons now a'days are pathetic!!
Aside from the hand held mic that Jeff uses during the vocal percussion solo, notice the two pickups in attached at either side of his voice box. Very cool! Seen these guys a bunch - my sister-in-law worked with Kevin before his Rockapella days.
Rockapella rules, and not just musically. I met Jeff a few weeks ago and we talked for like 10 minutes. Then I met the rest of them and they were all, like, the nicest guys ever.
Truly the biggest dorks I've ever seen. And as that has been said of me quite a few times, I tend to think that means something. But I can't deny, this is probably the only acapella song that I would get excited over.
I am over 40 now but there was a group of guys back then that followed that show almost religously. We loved the theme and even said that phrase sometimes.
XKCD brought me here and I didn't even realize it. It was subconsciously in my mind after I read the comic earlier today, and then I get here and see all the posts about it.
Ahahahahahaha! You rock for posting this. period. I remember watching the show when I was a kid and now that i'm playing it on Facebook, I was looking for this. Thanks so much. :)
I LOVE these guys...they're actually my outgoing message on my voicemail! LMAO...I have seen them live though not for years. Someday I hope to take my kids to see them because they love the guys too.
Anybody from the Boston area watching this? They'll be there in October and I'm going! Cannot wait! Never seen them live before. I think there are still tickets left!
The Beat Box Drum Solo KICKED ASS!!!
Started at 1:21 to 3:25
Nice try man, you've still gotta do jury duty
Impressed how they sound as good live as on recording

great example of old school beatboxing here. awesome!!!
Shows that need to return: THIS ONE
Paul Reich also firefly
Good news. New carmen sandiego coming to netflix in january
It did, new spin, new angle. Young Carmen is actually a good guy chasing the real thieves, but Interpol doesn't believe it, so we still get the chases and gadgets and stuff, interesting animation style and good voice acting :)
i just love the dude with the deep ass voice
I love how they changed Czechoslovakia to "Czech and Slovakia" to keep up with the split
... there different countries
Rizzley They are now
Look this song up from the new show. They changed to "Czech Republic"
@@jagirl966 It's not a perfect solution though, because it doesn't rhyme with "Chicago"
@@Blokewood3 I know, but their trying to be accurate to the current map, which I don't think they needed to do.

_Wait, wait hold on because there is no way you guys are making this magic with just your mouths_
I love this original group. Barry was the best. Jeff Thatcher is the best vocal percussionist ever! And the the Carmen Sandiego song was my favorite as a child. So many memories...
Alternate title: Best Beat Box solo ever, featuring Carmen Sandiego every so often
Wow, that beat box guy was crazy! This brought back a lot of memories. Thanks!
I came here for the song, but I stayed for the drum solo.
one of the best recordings of this song on youtube. gotta love rockapella. love the song too. well done jeff.
I came here from buckley. And I don't regret it.
Bahaha, I'm glad I'm not the only one!
Me too :D
Yay,fellow people from Buckley
Clam Chowder AY ME TOO
Clam Chowder I came here from memories of the show...fuck your removed association 😀
Oh man this takes me back. The good old days watching these guys live and hanging with them after shows. Love you guys!!!! 😙
Percussion/skat guy is lit af!
This video is a hidden gem and deserves more views & likes.
I still think this theme song is one of the best theme songs for a tv show ever, next to the boondocks theme. Lol.
Or anything Danny Elfman does.
This song is 20 years old. Amazing.
when i first saw these guys in the folgers commercials, i freaked because i recognized them from the carmen sandiego game show "DO IT ROCKAPELLA!"
Jeff Thatcher is in a word.. Really good on the drums! This is awesome song that I remember from when I was little.
Brings back good memorys.
I just saw their concert last night in Seoul. Amazing live and that's def. not a lip sync. They were even better last night.
Man...this is simply amazing. They are incredibly talented
It's great to see the blond fellow get such a great gig after he failed to kill John McClane.
kev3d Classic comment man
kev3d And Simba.
+kev3d (Stands up; claps slowly until audience joins in)
+kev3d L O L
My first comment on UA-cam ever, and this was worth waiting. Great man.
These guys are amazing! This brings back a lot of memories.
Geez, this takes me back.
I miss the show too!😭
Carmen Sandiego and Waldo had no idea how they were lucky enough to have found each other -- they only knew it was love at first sighting.
Ok I just got back from seeing them live and I have to say nothing can compare to actually seeing them live. Jeff Is so amazing the dynamics of his percussion talents are phenomenal. Thanks Buckley
They have some of the best harmony in the world.... so much talent. I love listening to them! This was such a great song.
used to leave work early to watch it on PBS and bill Nye the science guy after
Wow, they are really talented. This takes me back!
I have met students that cant find their own state on a U.S. map before it isn't that hard to believe
And the government forces these kids to “learn” algebra in 2nd grade, this is why there’s a huge problem. These shows are gone and the school boards want these kids in college by the age of 10 now. It’s moronic.
Thumbs up if Buckley got this stuck in your mind!
I'd never heard of it.. but now.. yes
Ortha1476 me too :)
I thought i was the only one who watched and enjoyed this show and song. It's heartwarming to know I wasn't alone then and now
came for the Rockapella, stayed for the 3 minute drum solo
I love these guys but wow...Jeff is quite an amazing person with his vocal drums!!!
Grump bump. Hello lovelies.
I've been a fan of Rockapella for over 20 years. They had it then and they still have it now.
I've watched Carmen Sandiego when I was little; I've noticed the theme song was done by an a cappella group.
Uhhhh yeah.. Hence the catch phrase - from the show - "DO IT ROCKAPELLA!", you dork
*****
I was talking to the OP.. ;)
You want a cookie or something?
These guys are not only amazing and talented, they're also really great people.
I played the game too! Although, my version was for PC NOT Mac.
I just saw these guys tonight! This was my favorite song they did because I remember this song from when I was a kid!
The cool thing about this song, is you never notice that it doesn't have actual music.
What's your definition of "actual music?" Do you mean "background instruments?"
Edward Wong Yes, I mean instruments.
This is actual music, would you consider auto-tune actual music?
@@darklordojeda You know what I mean. Without instrumental music.
Thanks for the nostalgia!
Man Arin was right, they are very good
Agreed
Game grumps?
Saw them perform live at a small club back in NYC years ago. They were amazing.
Anyone else find it kind of creepy that the camera started being focused on that lady at the end?
batman88891 That's Carmen Sandiego...
***** Really?
batman88891 course she is! She dyed her hair & ditched the hat & trench coat 4 a better disguise. Every genius thief, spy or undercover cop knows u need good disguise! lol
batman88891 probably the wife or girlfriend of the guy who recorded this. Not creepy at all when you look at it like that.
Mormon Hobbit Wow! She must be maaagiiiccc!
(I don't know why it took me so long to reply to this... I guess I just kind of skipped over it)
I remember these guys! I love their singing!!
Think anybody ever told them they well known for this song?
I remember watching the Carmen Sandiego trivia show when I was a kid and really enjoying the vocal skills of these guys.
Although, they never broke it down like this.
I used to watch that show when I was younger. I'm 44 and I can honestly tell you, they do NOT make cartoons like they used to! The toons now a'days are pathetic!!
Dreadly Me It wasn't a cartoon...
Some of it was animated. Excuse me.
This theme song was from the 1990s PBS game show, not the FOX Saturday morning cartoon.
Dreadly Me you were in your 20s when this was on lol
Yea, so?? Why can't I watch with the kids?? It's was either watch the TV or watch the linoleum peel
Aside from the hand held mic that Jeff uses during the vocal percussion solo, notice the two pickups in attached at either side of his voice box. Very cool! Seen these guys a bunch - my sister-in-law worked with Kevin before his Rockapella days.
I do wish the person on camera wouldn't focus on the woman in the audience.
Rockapella rules, and not just musically. I met Jeff a few weeks ago and we talked for like 10 minutes. Then I met the rest of them and they were all, like, the nicest guys ever.
should be in pitch perfect 3
Hahaha ikr
Man these guys perhaps the greatest Acapella group of all time
163 people are in on her crimes
I think its awesome that something so old (when I was in kindergarten) brings such fond memories till this day, and not just me.
He moves away from the mic to breathe in
I'm seeing these guys on Friday! (Dec 19) I've seen them once before and it was amazing. Can't wait to see them again!
I am not so Grump
EddyGamer4Life and were the gamegrumps
Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego good song
Main guy strains a lot
Scotty gonna pop a vein.
Truly the biggest dorks I've ever seen.
And as that has been said of me quite a few times, I tend to think that means something. But I can't deny, this is probably the only acapella song that I would get excited over.
Saw this first when I was in 8th grade in chorus. I'm a freshman in college now and still love this.
Oh man I miss that show. Love Rockapella!
You guys have got to be kidding....Jeff Thacher is AMAZING!!! (He is the one I would devote my life and will to!)
Oh, my goodness! I remember watching Carmen San Diego as a feisty little child, and now I think the Rockapella group even more!
I am over 40 now but there was a group of guys back then that followed that show almost religously. We loved the theme and even said that phrase sometimes.
DO IT, ROCKAPELLA!!!
i love rockapella, this is so awesome!!!!!
My kids loved this group growing up.
Some of my earliest TV memories of childhood!
brings a lot of memory back... thanks
This guy is amazing. Met him yesterday. Jeff that is.
XKCD brought me here and I didn't even realize it. It was subconsciously in my mind after I read the comic earlier today, and then I get here and see all the posts about it.
That's a fantastic clip! Thanks for sharing that!
Drum Solo!!! This is awesome!
This brings back memories!!!

Saw these guys live when I was 14, I'm 31 now, and they were extremely impressive.

Muito legais esses caras. Adorei essas reproduções.
OMG, Jeff Thacher lives like 15 miles from us..... I had NO CLUE there was that much talent in this neck of NY......!!!
this show was great, good times!
totally awesome game show. I have great memories of this growing up. There are simply not any more fun/educational game shows around anymore.
Ahahahahahaha! You rock for posting this. period. I remember watching the show when I was a kid and now that i'm playing it on Facebook, I was looking for this. Thanks so much. :)
Pretty impressive, man this brings back memories!
That was BOSS. Well done
this is AWESOME!!!
I LOVE these guys...they're actually my outgoing message on my voicemail! LMAO...I have seen them live though not for years. Someday I hope to take my kids to see them because they love the guys too.
Jeff Thatcher does the drums and Barry Carl does the Bass. Take a look at this concert and the song, 16 tons, they showcase Mr. Carl. Fantastic.
I love these guys!!
Man, that takes me back!!!
I LOVE watching them perform!
Carmen Sandiego was the shit back in the day man!!! I had the Computer games i miss them!!! thanks to that show I loved History
Used to play this game after school back in 3rd grade, then go home and watch the game show on PBS back in 1994
i bet they could win any music show with just this song!
Anybody from the Boston area watching this? They'll be there in October and I'm going! Cannot wait! Never seen them live before. I think there are still tickets left!
where were they playing at
+Infectedstyles The Berklee Performance Center. Wish you could have been there. They were fantastic! I wanna see them again!
