    this video helped me I just did my first hair cut , It probably not the best one , but it worked I also liked the fact that the dude told us what number he had on top (3) most videos don't start like that they just begin doing the fade..

    Watched ALOT of vids for fades and this is definitely the best one I've watched. Thank you very much from an apprentice hairdresser who is keen to be good at fades 😊

    +Chretien Gerada Is there a reason why you chose to set a guideline with your 0guard? Do you find that theres a better transition when you include 0guard guideline as opposed to jumping from clipper open to 1guard open?

    • @ChretienGerada
      @ChretienGerada  8 років тому +2

      Yes I do feel that there is a better transition. I feel as if it portrays a more "blurry" blend as some would say rather than the traditional blend which is more solidified. Personally, it makes the blend longer and more gradient for me.

    • @ChretienGerada
      @ChretienGerada  8 років тому

      It would be the same except for blending from 2 into the 3. You'd want to go straight up instead of into the hair.

    I have a question when I get a mid skin fade my barber uses a electric razor on the bottom can they use a razor blade instead of a electric razor.

    • @ChretienGerada
      @ChretienGerada  8 років тому

      Yeah, of course your barber can. It's just a matter of preference and if there are any hairs still on the bottom. I use the electric razor first then that straight blade if there are hairs that the electric razor doesn't get, but if the client's skin is sensitive i might not even use either. It all just depends on which tool gets the closest shave. Hope this helps!

    What's the difference between the wahl balding clipper and the andis outliner to bald the head first. Would you recommend buying both wahl balding & a t outliner ? Just wondering thanks & keep up with your videos they help us out.

    How do I tell my barber for this hair cut ?

    • @ChretienGerada
      @ChretienGerada  8 років тому +3

      3 and a mid bald fade

    • @ChretienGerada
      @ChretienGerada  8 років тому +1

      I'll do a video on that bro. The reason why me and others do it is because it is what suits the individual the best. its what they are most comfortable with. When you're a barber you obtain an arsenal of clippers and trimmers that compliment you and give you the best possible haircut possible. And most times you actually need at least2 clippers. one to cut and one to edge up.

    • @xpex3277

      HONESTO UNO well sir quit being cheap buy some good clippers

  • @matde100
    @matde100 8 років тому

    Why do you use different clippers throughout? Eg. The white one vs the purple one

    • @matde100
      @matde100 8 років тому

      Like not talking about the outliner, but I noticed you used the balding purple clipper for the sides of his head, and the white clipper for the top. Why is this?

    • @ChretienGerada
      @ChretienGerada  8 років тому +1

      +matde100 it's all personal preference. I like using the wahls when blending past a #1 guard because I can use the 1 &1/2 guard to give a more blendy look and my later fast feeds are my main blenders between the bald and 1/16 guard. I just feel more comfortable that way.

    • @matde100
      @matde100 8 років тому

      Thanks for the response. One more question, do you oil/lube your clippers before use? Do you think it's necessary

    • @ChretienGerada
      @ChretienGerada  8 років тому

      +matde100 I try too. It's always good to keep your clippers oiled so they cut smoothly, but I would say I oil mine after every 3-4 cuts depending on how busy I get.

    Should use the foil shaver before you actually did the fade...it will make the transition from the bald area to the fade alot better and won't leave lines and if it does leave a line you will be able to flick it out when you do the fade...just a lil tip for ya..

    Nice Cut! there was a lot of trial and error with your steps, especially were you used the 3/16 guard was either covered with your hands or edited out. It was be nice to see another video were your adjustments on the lever are precise, but the hair cut turned out well. Thanks

    • @ChretienGerada
      @ChretienGerada  8 років тому +2

      Yeah, i do a lot of trial and error because sometimes the hair doesn't blend completely using steps and guidelines. What i like to do is get a rough draft of the entire cut first using all the guidelines then i just go back over it and touch up whatever needs fixing.
