Let the best tank win. K2 does have auto loader feature which is great when you are fire and moving. Not fun inside moving tank as loader. Suspension system in K2 does give extra options hitting enemy from difficult angle which K2 has twice gun angle compare to Leopard 2 or M1. Also smaller target with suspension lowered does give 20% better chance not being hit.
Both tanks are excellent. The main difference is the German tank is optimized for the rolling hills of central Europe and the Korean tank is built for the high rough hills and narrow valleys of the Korean peninsula. The suspension system on the K-2 let's the front of the vehicle kneel and also elevate. The result is the depression and elevation of the cannon is increased and it is ideal for the kind of terrain in Korea! Ironically these same features allow it to operate in unique ways in any terrain! I read with humor about those quoting the thickness of armor and protection levels on each tank. This just shows the level of ignorance of the posters as the governments and manufacturers have not disclosed this information and the postings are mere wild ass guesses.

But to the North Korean tanks on the otherside of the line don't think the things you listed are bad, they are definitely afraid of the K-2. But let me be blunt as to the reliability of diesel engines in a tank. Compared to a turbine engine they are not as reliable, though they are more fuel efficient.
We are comparing a 3rd generation tank vs a fourth generation tank, and the fact that the leopard 2 after multiple years can nearly still be really good, even against fourth generations tanks, is beyond impressive, Also Germany, France, and possibly UK are making a fourth generation tank as well that is set to be operational by 2040. It can go both ways. Norway has a long hsitory with Leopard tanks, but Norway has also just bought the K-9 Thunder Self-propelled artillery from South Korea and seem to be very pleased with that material.
The reason they went for the k9 instead of the PzH-2000 is that the K9 is smaller and it fits better on narrow mountain roads. It's great seeing the Koreans doing so well in the defense industry, competition is a good thing for everyone and it's great seeing Nato and its allies stay on top of the game.

Countries with rough terraine like mountains, deserts and arctic climate. In 1977 canada acquired its first Leopard 1 tanks and operated them until 2017. This tells you how successfull the Leopard tanks are. K2 uses a german MTU MB engine btw.
K2 is designed and manufactured in South Korea where summer heat reaches 40 degree celsius and winter cold, down to -30 degree celsius. Therefore K2 will run under any climate condition without a hitch.

Small turret has also weak zone on the top and it has very small space inside the tank. leopard 2a7 is much better protected and trophy can also be installed on leopards. k2 has wekaer 120mm cannon because L55a1 is much better and you can use stronger projectiles. about mobility k2 is much shorter so it has poorer traction becuase it has the same unit pressure on the ground as heawier leopard 2 but with longer and wider tracks.

First off, Germany is currently purchasing 200billion $$$ of Norwegian LNG. The chief of Norwegian defense confessed that K2 got the most scores and thus technically K2 is the winner, however, the Norwegian prime minister’s determination and is political, regardless of the score. Norwegian officials actually phone called to South Korea to send the congratulating message of winning days ahead of the date of result statement. The second reason, that Norwegian Cavalry association supports Leo for the fact that concerning of reducing crew/reloader if they choose K2.

The only good thing about choosing the Leopard is that Germany is much closer so in theory it should be easier and cheaper to maintain the tanks but that is sadly not the case right now. Germany is struggling to produce anything and is a tough business partner which Poland, Hungary and many other central/eastern countries can confirm. @@nagmashot Norwegian here, The PzH2000 had many problems during winter testing, and some of them was of that type, that it would be usles in Norwegian weather condition. Yes it is good artillery when you operate in it in large open terrain with small hills like middle Europa, but when it comes to the harsh condition of North Norway with mountains and swamps, it's worthless.
The Pzh had two advantages over the K9 in the Norwegian testing. First was slightly higher rate of fire and greater sustained fire because their powder charge doesn't make the barrel or breech too hot. However, to get the slightly higher fire rate their loading system is very expensive and overly complicated. It looks like a Russian style carousel type of system from my observation. Lots of moving parts. Very expensive for not much increase in performance. Other than that its unreliability in snow and ice (Norwegian reports that the Pzh broke down a few times!) made it fall out of the competition fairly midway and it was really just between the K9 and the Swiss modified version of the M-109. However, the K9 is more modern with a bigger and larger range gun than the Swiss M-109 so the K9 was the winner.
During Leopard 2 and K2 Black Panther test in Norway, K2 tank with S Korean tungsten round was able to penetrate 800mm armor compare to 630mm armor with German tungsten round for Leopard 2. This is kinetic energy penetration thus K2 will be able to penetrate new Russian T90 with Kontackt 5 reactive armor with 800mm kinetic armor protection from over 2km away.

The DM73 utilizes that higher chamber pressure, achieving about 20% better performance then the M829A4 which still only operates at the lower pressure of the L44 (M256).
Elite MBTs will start to use 130mm. Without the auto-loading system, considering the size and weight of the new ammunition, reloading time will be signicantly extended with the manual system. BlackPanther is 130mm ready already with it's auto-load! 💯
130mm has already been tested, the ideal weight / velocity of round is deemed to be between 100-125mm. 100 usually being the case for sub caliber munitions (APDS or ATGM ammo casings).
Doubtful that a 120mm autoloader could be adapted for 130mm rounds. The gun is heavier, the breach is bigger and the rounds are significantly longer (probably more than 1300mm length) and the muzzle energy is about 55% higher with the proportional increase in recoil.

If the Norwegian officials are not swayed by political influence, the K-2 is expected to win overwhelmingly. The 2A7 is a manual reload system. Tank-to-tank engagements require an attack during evasive maneuvers. And if it is upgraded to 130mm in the future, it will be almost impossible to directly carry and load 130mm ammunition with a wider caliber inside the tank during evasive maneuvers. It will be difficult for the 2A7 to reload ammunition in a timely manner when performing evasive maneuvers on rugged mountains. And the K-2 tank has hydraulic suspension. You can adjust your stance to attack from top to bottom or from bottom to top in the mountains of Norway. As you can see from the video, the K-2 is equipped with an APS system. If Norway chooses 2A7, the APS hard kill system will be applied. However, the sincerity of the German manufacturer is lacking. The creators of the K-2 tanks are showing their passion for installing rubber tracks just before they arrive in Norway. It is possible that Norwegian officials already have the K-2 in mind. They use K-9 self-propelled howitzers and already have a positive image of Korean-made weapons. Even if the price of the 2A7 is lowered to the $20 million level, the K-2 remains attractive. As a german i actually should kinda hope that the Leopard will win the contract BUT the K2 is a very impressive tank and Norway has to (and hopefully will!) choose the best option for itself. And keep in mind that there's a lot of german technology in the K2 such as the gun and the engine... BTW: This video will really come in handy for one of my planned K2 scale models in the future because of the interesting camouflage scheme. It is still talking about the past, and at this point, the engine has already succeeded in localizing 100% from the second mass production to the third mass production in Korea (Doosan Infracore), and except for 100 first mass production units, only the power pack has been decided to use German tech.
Norway is different from Poland, which has a wide plain. This is a mountainous area. When snow melts, it becomes a mud field. Plain tanks are not suitable for Norway.
We need a tank good in rough off-road terrain , including deep snow and cold conditions. K2 use German transmission, so shouldn't be a major difference. Considering future upgrade packages, the safer choice is in my view to continue with Leopard, but I presume the choice comes down to unit cost and operational cost of the MBT really.

Poland wants what S Korea wants thus Poland should ask S Korea to replace deadbeat Indonesia in KF21 fighter program. Poland is also NATO country thus there is less headache dealing with using American parts. Cost of operation is half of F35 and able to control UAV for 6th generation warfare. S Korea is #1 in IT and electronic industry thus able to produce high quality AESA radars which able to defeat Russian and Chinese radars. Countries with rough terraine like mountains, deserts and arctic climate. In 1977 canada acquired its first Leopard 1 tanks and operated them until 2017. This tells you how successfull the Leopard tanks are. K2 uses a german MTU MB engine btw.

K2 is designed and manufactured in South Korea where summer heat reaches 40 degree celsius and winter cold, down to -30 degree celsius.

@@iustinel25 k2NO has a trophy as option, the same leopard 2aX with hard kill. k2 is much smaller becuase of the reduction of weight and it has paper side armour. also the front protection angle range is 2x smaller becuase k2 has a weight limitation. side armour is 50mm of steel and ERA witch will not stop stronger atgms or 30mm KE. Small turret has also weak zone on the top and it has very small space inside the tank. leopard 2a7 is much better protected and trophy can also be installed on leopards. k2 has wekaer 120mm cannon because L55a1 is much better and you can use stronger projectiles. about mobility k2 is much shorter so it has poorer traction becuase it has the same unit pressure on the ground as heawier leopard 2 but with longer and wider tracks.

To tell the truth, technically Leopard lost due to the fact that K2 got the most scores, based on the official statement by the chief of Norwegian defense.
First off, Germany is currently purchasing 200billion $$$ of Norwegian LNG. The chief of Norwegian defense confessed that K2 got the most scores and thus technically K2 is the winner, however, the Norwegian prime minister’s determination and is political, regardless of the score. Norwegian officials actually phone called to South Korea to send the congratulating message of winning days ahead of the date of result statement.
The second reason, that Norwegian Cavalry association supports Leo for the fact that concerning of reducing crew/reloader if they choose K2.

The only good thing about choosing the Leopard is that Germany is much closer so in theory it should be easier and cheaper to maintain the tanks but that is sadly not the case right now. Germany is struggling to produce anything and is a tough business partner which Poland, Hungary and many other central/eastern countries can confirm. Additionally many countries are beginning to question if Germany is an actual Allie of the EU and NATO

K9 could defeat PZH 2000 as the new Norway propellent , PZH 2000 got error in cold situation test, but K9 ran & shot even same condition.

@@nagmashot Norwegian here, The PzH2000 had many problems during winter testing, and some of them was of that type, that it would be usles in Norwegian weather condition. Yes it is good artillery when you operate in it in large open terrain with small hills like middle Europa, but when it comes to the harsh condition of North Norway with mountains and swamps, it's worthless.

The Pzh had two advantages over the K9 in the Norwegian testing. First was slightly higher rate of fire and greater sustained fire because their powder charge doesn't make the barrel or breech too hot. However, to get the slightly higher fire rate their loading system is very expensive and overly complicated. It looks like a Russian style carousel type of system from my observation. Lots of moving parts. Very expensive for not much increase in performance. Other than that its unreliability in snow and ice (Norwegian reports that the Pzh broke down a few times!) made it fall out of the competition fairly midway and it was really just between the K9 and the Swiss modified version of the M-109. However, the K9 is more modern with a bigger and larger range gun than the Swiss M-109 so the K9 was the winner.
Poland is looking in to buying modified verision on K2, K2PL with lengthened hull and some other changes but its only in paper form so far.

During Leopard 2 and K2 Black Panther test in Norway, K2 tank with S Korean tungsten round was able to penetrate 800mm armor compare to 630mm armor with German tungsten round for Leopard 2. This is kinetic energy penetration thus K2 will be able to penetrate new Russian T90 with Kontackt 5 reactive armor with 800mm kinetic armor protection from over 2km away.

130mm has already been tested, the ideal weight / velocity of round is deemed to be between 100-125mm. 100 usually being the case for sub caliber munitions (APDS or ATGM ammo casings).

Doubtful that a 120mm autoloader could be adapted for 130mm rounds. The gun is heavier, the breach is bigger and the rounds are significantly longer (probably more than 1300mm length) and the muzzle energy is about 55% higher with the proportional increase in recoil.

We need a tank good in rough off-road terrain , including deep snow and cold conditions. K2 use German transmission, so shouldn't be a major difference. Considering future upgrade packages, the safer choice is in my view to continue with Leopard, but I presume the choice comes down to unit cost and operational cost of the MBT really.

Poland wants what S Korea wants thus Poland should ask S Korea to replace deadbeat Indonesia in KF21 fighter program. Poland is also NATO country thus there is less headache dealing with using American parts. Cost of operation is half of F35 and able to control UAV for 6th generation warfare. S Korea is #1 in IT and electronic industry thus able to produce high quality AESA radars which able to defeat Russian and Chinese radars.
