I have found at 78 that retirement doesn't mean you quit working. You just work more on what you like to do instead of what you have to do to keep the house and the car lol! Since you own the house and the car, you are now free to roam about the country! Love you and Lori.

I had a Frankie, named Gypsy. When she died it took me a long time to learn how to live without her by my side. I could see the heartache in your demeanor and understood. Gypsy was the smartest, and most loyal dog I ever had the pleasure to be with. It's uncanny how intune they become with you. Border Collies are in a league of their own. God's blessings to you, Lori, and Tildie. :)
I also had a border collie name Mickey, he was my protector and my best friend. It's been 5 years since I lost him. They are very loyal!.
Mine was Sargent. Had to put him down when he was paralyzed by a stroke at 17. Not a day goes by that I don't miss him.
I couldn't agree more. They're in a league of their own for sure :-))
@@thebossoftheswamp Border Collies are intelligent, which is why they have been used as sheepdogs for centuries and there are many still used as sheep dogs here in Shetland.

Was great to see NY cabin, when I discovered you and your channel, that is where it began for me viewing your cabin life. And Frankie. That was many years back Boss, good years. Will be viewing when you see the time to put a video up, enjoy yourselves, it is gardening time for me here in South New Jersey, I have a cabin/shed I work out of on my acre and a quarter, nothing like yours, but it’s mine !!!!, take care Boss and Laurie and Tildy………,,,.

Let's not forget the Christmas videos done from that cabin. I've re-watched them several times. The doggie duck jerky that tasted like @$$ always gave me a laugh.

When I was 10, my grandfather began sharing his knowledge with me. He was in his 60s. Boss, I see that happening with you now. It's a good thing. Mentoring, tutoring, teaching. And you're dang good at it. Use this time in your life wisely. Teach drawing as well.

I remember when you built the corduroy road and Frankie was such a good boy sitting in the side-by-side while you were running the Kubota. My goodness, where does the time go.
It's flying by and that's why we're making the changes to enjoy it while we can.

I watched this video late last night , but now commenting this morning. Needed all night to think about my comment. Just kidding. Lol First off I am very thankful to be given a chance to know you. ( as much as you can know someone via internet ) Lol You made me realize how good people can be. I love your interaction with the birds. And your dogs. I’ve learned quite a lot from all your videos. I’ve never heard of someone fulfilling so many dreams like you have. From such a young age. Very inspiring ! You are right about life going fast. I will be 59 this year ! Well Boss, I'll be 69 in two days and the one thing you come to realize is middle age is far behind us lol. Time to slow down, relax and enjoy what makes ya happy. I hope Lori is healing well and hope for you both that whatever path you choose you are both healthy and happy. Give Tildy a pat on the head from me, I sure miss my Border Nikki. BTW always happy to see a new vid from you guys and you just post when you feel like it, always appreciate them no matter when they come out!

I can only imagine the look on Lori's face driving up to the New York Cabin. I bet her heart was smiling just seeing her old home. I am so happy that you and your family will be having more fun, it is the time. Tildie looked so happy. I'm sure she too misses Frankie and probably felt his spirit there.

62 and I've cut my work load in half. Lots more camping and backpacking happening. Lots more spending time around the homestead enjoying the fruits of our labor. Smelling and enjoying the coffee every morning.

I'm in my mid 50's planning on retirement in 5yrs and want to take it easy and do what I want for a change thanks for sharing your life with us...

I highly recommend more fun. I split my time between two properties only six hours apart, but with drastically different climates.
One on the desert plains and the other in high altitude mountains where winter is a drag.
Be blessed in your travels. Throw up a video whenever you feel there's something to share.
My Border Collie died 2 decades ago and I still miss her. Maybe Girliegirl and Frankie are playing up there in doggie heaven with her dad Zero. If those dogs had thumbs they would rule the world. 😘

Happy for ya. It's prime building season, so I'm working on building the deck and finishing the inside of my cabin along with solar and pumping water from the well. You are a great inspiration, and I took the bull by the horns and bought 10acres in the CA mountains last year and started a cabin.. Time waits for no one, so just get started.

It was good to see you back up at the NY cabin. It was there, where I stumbled across your building it… Years have now past, and memories shared, have become my own. Frankie,, the knotty pine cabinetry, that creaky wooden rocker by the wood stove, the little ‘ghost’ captured in wood, the care and craftsmanship of each phase of construction, yards & yards of gravel & logs for the corduroy road, all to carve out an escape. And truly, it was an escape for me and others, not just for you.
Should we ever meet, and I hope we do, I shall greet you warmly as a friend, and thank you for all your hard work (yours, not mine!). We’ll talk of our adventures, and our love of the outdoors, and relish the rich dark malt of a frosty cold Moose Drool (several).
I know you and Lori are transitioning, possibly moving. I wish you both, success in wherever you may settle. And continued good health, a peace and rich satisfaction in all you do.

I got mine and was almost crying. Thank you soooo much for letting us in on this one. I dearly LOVE my prints and already trying to decide just what kind of frame I want to put it in. SOOOOO glad you accomplished your goal.
Talking about greenhouses, that cattlepanel greenhouse my husband was welding on for me has been at a stand still for about a year. So I decided to put my big honking mineral pots in there filled with soil. I threw a make shef cover on it and have planted cukes, bell peppers and sweet cherry peppers and tomatoes in them. The plants are waist high now. Soooo excited and the cukes are putting on runners so got to get my strings attached pretty soon.

Well I know I will miss you both but you deserve to have some fun and be happy. SO glad Tildy filled the void and helped things be more pleasant. These pets of ours are always making us happy. My cat, Ollie is having a birthday tomorrow and I had to buy him a couple presents. lol He was lost from his mom before he was even weaned so I tried to fill that void for him. He's a stubborn little booger but I sure do love him! lol You guys have fun when you go to the N.Y. cabin!!!

One was the Boss with his first hunting dog and the other was country comfort with all you grew up with in a small portion of your home as a child. I love them so much!
