- In this episode, I read a few entries from my journals from 2015 and talk about how we are going full circle. I came back to NH to fulfill a lifelong dream but now that my dream has been fulfilled, we are returning to our off grid cabin in northern NY and selling our NH property.

Thanks for the video! We all have dreams we need to fulfill. Mine has been since 1969 of having flowers everywhere on my 4 acres. After mowing today, I told my Grandson, my yard looks like an old ladies yard. He said nothing wrong with that. Although we haven't seen much rain in the last month, my flowering trees & flowers have never looked so good. It is all so beautiful. I am going to be 72 in July & I enjoy being outside. Planting new flowers & trees every year. God has surely given me the eyes to see the beauty he has helped me to create. Great to hear Lori in the background. We will still be here following your dream.

It's hard to believe how long I've followed your adventures and life's dreams. I'm going to be 79 in a few weeks and every phase of my life was something new to look forward to. I've slowed down as I aged but it gave me the time to look at the world and enjoy the things my wife and did together. We have enjoyed our retirement years and the freedoms it gives us. My phone spends most of the time on a shelf along side my billfold. We don't fill our schedule up anymore but take our time getting to the next thing on our agenda. I always look forward to your next posting and take time out to sit and enjoy your thoughts and accomplishments. As we age there are things we can no longer do but we haven't run out of things we can do so life is good. We lived our dreams and still are. You have the right idea's of how to enjoy Gods gifts and build your life around them. The secrete to life is to enjoy it and thank the Lord as you go.

I'm 70 and thank the Lord every night. Unfortunately many these days don't believe,whilst some prefer satan. Thank God I'm old. But I do feel infinitely sorry for our sons,grandsons and future generations. Without a doubt,we have had the best years!!!!
Over my lifespan (69 years) I have had many different jobs but upon recent reflection I came to realize that in every job I had I was always "building something" and as a result I came to realize that some people HAVE TO BUILD and are not satisfied unless they can see what they have built! So, I understand how you feel and may we never stop building. Blessings!

14 years turning this run down abandoned farm into out homestead, and I'm ready to leave. I've built barns, sheds, a little house for Pam and an off grid cabin for me (and SHTF). Remodeled the 1898 farm house. Enjoyed the process and we've really enjoyed the fruits of our labor. But I'm done. I don't let this property identify me. My dreams are taking me out West. Or, as your mt climbing analogy would suggest, I'm ready to take on another summit! Folks, it's really ok to build something, be proud of it, enjoy it, and then move on.

This was the absolute BEST video I could have possibly watched tonight … as I’m on my final road trip tomorrow to empty out the rest of my house for good as it sold! Woohoo!!! Change is healthy and boy has it made a difference in my life. I have a step, skip and jump in every stride now. 😎 Wishing you both and the 4 paws the same happiness in the very near future too. I remember those days at the NY Cabin and the New Hampshire Cabin and fell in love with Frankie ( so reminded of my beloved Border Collie Jody).

Still remember watching the ‘back to my roots’ series as it was published during a time of big decisions for me as well. Might watch it again now! This man just does not lie, the knowledge and experiences he shares is very eye opening. I think most of us think we will live forever, and put our dreams aside the majority of the time. Every video i watch of this man just reminds me to live everyday like my last.

So your 60 I’m 58 so here I go I bought my cabin it’s off grid and far away from society which is falling apart there’s no morals anymore buddy so in four years I’m retiring from the sawmill and cashing out my 401-k and getting started on my SS payments I’m sure my wife won’t go but I am I’ll be up there 3 weeks out of every month my friends will be there full time too so here I go starting on my second journey of life you have shown me how to do a lot of things my friend I thank you for that so wish me luck I gotta do some minor stuff but no big deal I’ve got it mostly figured out .

Hey BOSSMAN, Before I get going on my blather here, wanted to say I was making coffee and Jim said, the Boss is on. We bought a French press finally. I have been wanting one since you talked about it. I responded that he needed to wait so I could watch too. So he paused you and now having some good coffee and watching. I just wanted you to know that and YOUR channel is the only channel we watch all the ads because we know it monitizes. Enjoyed all of it. Laughed at losing winter fat. I have lost 10 lbs myself gardening. I am trying a more artsy gardening method, Poteger I belive they call it. We have new neighbors on our ridge. Two families just getting started and we are helping them now. Me who moaned and moaned on your shoulder that I needed to get here and now nearly four years here and settled in so stinking happy. I buried my son's ashes here so this is my last stop but at nearly 67, I don't need to go anywhere else, I am contented. I look out on my hillside garden, some fruit showing up, adding perm stuff like grapes and berries. The day will come where only a few annuals like tomatoes and cucumbers will be in my day. Watching Frankie with you made my heart swell with joy and bitter sorrow at the same time. Don't quit your day job, ha ha Lori is hilarious. Funny you said you loved that hat, because I was thinking how much I liked you in that hat.We talk all the time, Jim and me, about how many years do we have left. Jim said to tell you "Boss, we are living, we are living! "and he is sashaying around saying it while he is filling our berkey water filter ha ha We adore you guys, All the best, juanita mae

I cant believe how long ive bin watching your videos. It only seams like yesterday you and Franky we kayaking in the pond. Adding the wood shed and bathroom and putting in the Corduroy road in the NY cabin. I don’t mind telling you it bin a wonderful journey for me too. So glad I found your videos when I did. Coming here and doing all that we've done has been a wonderful experience, but the area is changing too much and too fast. The NY cabin is calling us home.

55 here, Just finished our 7th house build, this one’s a keeper, on a bigger property (rural & still near town) with 2 adult sons as co-owners. Long term adventure to live with our kids & 4 grands. Looking forward to developing the property with outbuildings, greenhouse, veg gardens, fruit bushes & more trees. Time marches on fast, gotta work hard to turn dreams into reality. I always enjoy your vids, your positive attitude is infectious! Post your videos whenever you can, we’re not greedy, we can wait. Stay healthy & enjoy your dreaming. PS, my dads 91 & still dreaming of doing things even as his body slows. Never stop!

Wow, excellent video, I must say. I have been with you and your family for so many years. I can't describe how much it has been a part of my life. No matter when you release your videos I would hold them for Sunday morning with a cup of coffee and your videos was one of life's pleasures for me. Enjoyed the video and seeing you and hearing Lori in the back ground. Tuesday will be a year gone by that I lost my precious Maxine doberman dog to cancer. I had her cremated and her ashes sit on my couch in her box. You are so right, time flies by and the years add up real fast. Not a day goes by that I do not think of Maxine. She was 14. Looking forward to another doberman in my life come fall, God willing. At 70 years old, I want a doggie who I can train all over again. Maxine was a joy in my life from day one and her breeder was perfection. If any thing should happen to me, my daughter will take over ownership of the new doggie. I have a garden and many flowers and that is what keeps me going each day. Prayers for you and Lori on your new adventure. The joy of our Lord is what keeps me going with renewed daily strength. I wish you both and your doggie, all the best that life has to offer. God bless. ♥

Life goes on.
I left behind our fist home, which was luxurious and beautiful in a city where 2 jobs were necessary to maintain it.
Now we leave in a camper, in the woods, no electricity, no water, trying to see if we can have a better life, while not being on schedule....
It is hard...
We started a 23x26 cabin that started as 16x20, and grew to 330x24.
We are working without any experience, except for what we have seen on UA-cam (including you).
Poured 12 concrete piers 5 feet deep, made the post and we are framing the main floor at the moment.
Hopefully by October we can move in... we'll see.

You have been an inspiration and encouragement to many people to follow their dream. Back in Brazil I used to live in a farm with no power and I was self sufficient at the of age 23 years. Follow your dreams, so mine was to travel around the world and live in a country like Canada. I am 63 years travelled to over 20 different countries and live in Canada for the last 30 years where it became my home. Right now in the process of finishing my cabin in a dream Property by the water in a pristine area with nothing around besides trees and water. My companion is a 7 years old Border Collie called Jack.

My dream is to build a cabin in the woods. We have 12 acres that were inherited, after my husband farmed for over 20 years his grandfather's farm (for his uncle). My jack of all trades husband (who also loves you), is tired and is still working hard for someone else, driving a log truck 50-60 hours a week. And I have worked hard alongside him all these 40 years (he is the same age as you and me a few years younger), am not doing well healthwise. You are so right in saying to live your dreams and follow them. I don't know if our cabin will ever be built here on this earth, but I know we will have a heavenly home someday and I will have a cabin or cottage then. We love you and we will continue to follow you this side of heaven. Keep following your dreams and we will try to follow ours too!

The crazy thing is i remember every single thing you talked about. I cant believe the journey youve taken us on. It seems like yesterday. Starting the cabin with frankie, selling the homestead, the workshop, the building near the road. I have no idea how many videos youve made but ive seen them all, many many times. Even the one you and a friend stopped at a yard sale or something and pick up some pretty unusual things. That was So funny. Anyway JC, you remind me so much of my brother its like being with family. Im watching this as i cook a couple homemade pizzas on soft taco tortilla shells and my birder collie making sure i do it right.

My idea off grid would be a 16' white duck canvas bell tent deep into the woods
My wife and I rescued an old Vt. farmhouse in 1984. There were no gardens and now there are many. She recently lost her second battle with cancer. I will be moving on to the next phase. It will be a small off-grid cabin for me and my 2 dogs. We had a great run and I am so thankful.
