I remember the dual blowers. One on each head. One pass down the track and the motor was trash. Dang fast run tho. Those were the days when cars and parts were plentiful.
I’m curious if I used original end castings if it would have the same issues. May have to try that. But Kompressor Haus supplies the hose. I have a local source and may change it along with better clamps.
Nope. It’s a completely different place. 👍🏽 I know the Beetle Barn well. The Stephens are friends. Warren used to work out of a quansa hut… but not this one.
George, I want to swap my 40hp fan shroud for a 36hp style shroud for clearance purposes . Do I need to change my fan backing plate and fan or do they interchange?
How come the supercharger manifold, doesn't have the pre-heat tubing like the stock units do? One would think, it would be needed on the cars that live in the cold climate states/countries.🤔
Kit is about $2600-$3000 shipped to the states. It is a solid kit. Total in this entire engine is about $7800 -$8000. Besides the exhaust, it’s all new parts.
Turbo requires different exhaust, oil lines, and a ton more work. This is pretty simple and straightforward. Plus it still increases power 1600 or not. 👊🏽
Funny. I worked on a 65 Mustang. The difference in consistency and accuracy in assembly is night and day. VW’s are very well built cars that unfortunately were worked on by hacks in their later years. Thanks for watching. 👍🏽
Actually, they were more reliable than there American counterparts of the same Era. Unfortunately a lot of people/ vw owners worked on their own cars not knowing what they are doing. BTW VW's dominated the early baja 1000 races. Most other off road vehicles, like Broncos, jeeps and other off road vehicles didn't even finish.
The best classic VW videos are currently in this channel.
Thanks 👊🏽
I have a 1981 brazilian beetle with a 1915 cc engine and this compressor would be very good on my engine. Congrats on your excelent work.
Thanks 👍
I've been running a Berry's kit w/40 DCOE on my 1641 ACD engine for almost a year now, still running great.
That’s good to hear. 👊🏽
No words of wisdom from Dunkle? I can't wait to see you guys at One Crazy Weekend.
So stoked you’re coming! 👊🏽
Bring my wife’s cooler. 😁

Longer silicone boot is needed for the right side hay.

@@the_Wagen good idea, would hate it to come loose and lean out the motor
Nice🤙🏾
It would be great to see some dyno figures on this. I've seen a few of these but never have seen the numbers.
Nor have I. They claim 100ho on a stock engine. If we have another local Dyno day here we will get numbers.
Mark D!
😉
That looks like the old Beetle Barn …. I haven’t been there in years.
Nope. It’s The Wagen.
@@the_Wagen
Yeah it may be the Wagon now
But back in the 60s & 70s it was the beetle barn.
Nope. It’s a completely different place. 👍🏽

Do they make a kit for a single port 1600
Not sure. I bet it could be done easily.
George, I want to swap my 40hp fan shroud for a 36hp style shroud for clearance purposes . Do I need to change my fan backing plate and fan or do they interchange?
If you are upgrading to the 36 hp doghouse shroud yes. If stock 36 I don’t think so.
@@the_Wagen thank you. I appreciate it

There is a manual choke on this kit. The supercharger supplies plenty of heat.
@@the_Wagen I like the Judson supercharger setup better. To bad judson never made a kit for the 1600 SP/DP engines.
Kompressor Haus is out of the UK. I’d suspect not too many VW’s are used in the winter months there.
Where did u buy this kit?
Kompressor Haus out of the UK.
@@the_Wagen thank you
Estimated cost? I live in Colorado at 6500 ft elevation, this would help with power with my 1915cc
You would need to contact them as your jetting will be different and a nightmare to tune up without there help.

@@the_Wagen thanks, good to know.
BTW, great VW content in your videos!
100hp easy on a N/A 1776.
I just dont get the reasoning to install one of these kits.
We had the longblock. So we made it better.
100 hp easy… easy…. 1776cc. To the ground? Not buying it.
@@the_Wagen 100++engine hp. All day,
Turbo charging is so much easier IMHO. But to each their own, but to me it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to supercharge a stock 1600.

I had several bugs. Bleepin cheap ass cars. Spend money on real cars.
