VW Engine Disaster Averted

- This week we fix a BIG little problem. The oil pick-up tube has come off of its captive stud. This is a major problem that we hopefully caught before total failure. While repairing it we upgrade the sump plate and studs to a more user friendly product.

Good to see Rodney’s car getting some love on the lift! T3A babay!
Nice!
👍👍
Were the metal shavings not bad enough to bother to trace /dismantle? With the oils starvation issue won’t the journals be shot?
I’ll leave that decision to the owner. I’d disassemble it if it were a blank check build. We have not fired it up yet, and I’ll do my due diligence to flush as much debris out as possible. This motor was brought to me just to install. I’m hoping the owner has a conversation with the supplier. Regardless I’ll keep everyone posted on how it goes.
why not use a heat gun on the stud. Or a good soldering iron... just ideas
So may no no's on this project when people lower them the extra deep sump goes in the trash. Thin line sum minimum ans the replacement cbp pick up tube with larger tube
This engine really was a disappointment.
@the_Wagen i see that almost ashame they called it a rebuilt motor. Piss poor engine builder and.it looks like some modified at some point afterwards... molested for sure
Averted.
You avert disaster, you don't divert it. You cannot divert it because it's not a tangible thing.
Changed. Thank you for the assist. 👍🏽
