I knew there was a reason I moved South 46 years ago! I was shivering just watching this video Sandy. You have a beautiful property Sandy and the snow makes it picture perfect... BUT... I think I would only want to visit in the June-August time frame!!
Hi Sandy. Twelve years ago, I moved from Eastern Ontario to central Alberta. Last week, we received 6 inches of wet, heavy, dense snow. My partner has lived in the Western prairies for most of her life. She helped shovel the walkway. She has said it was the heaviest snow she had ever encountered. When I told her that snow in Ontario and Quebec was heavy like that, she was amazed. Good luck with your snow. The good news is that you have a mill, so you can harvest and utilize any damaged trees.
I am always amazed at the amounts of snow you get. People down here in the states just don't realize what you deal with. Thanks for sharing and stay tough my friend 🙏
I’m always amazed at how flexible healthy trees can be. Here in the PNW, watching these 120+ ft. tall firs sway violently in wind gusts make one appreciate the strength of wood.
I always revel in the fact that I can handle most of the things that Mother Nature throws at me. That sort of thing brings out the man in you. It can be a lot of work at times, but work is what keeps the wheels turning and the heart pumping. Looking forward to a winter storm warning for my place from tonight until Friday. I've already got everything put away, so I'll have no obstacles when it comes to plowing. I have an open cab 3046R, so I can relate to you riding that mini-skid in the snow. Good luck to you, and I hope your ground freezes soon!
Sure keeps the heart going that's for sure with all the "refreshing" snow baths haha. I was feeling like after a warm start to the winter I got a bit of payback against me
Hi Sandy! Your next purchase should probably be a snow blade with angle pivot for your baumalite. You won’t use it for everything but definitely for some areas of snow removal! Keep up the good work and thanks for the videos!!
Had to subscribe! I watch Nate of Canadian PREPPER and love seeing the Canadian landscape. I live in the Ohio River Vally in USA and we do not get snow that deep!! The Ohio River has frozen over before - back decades ago. Happy to see you are experienced in nature of that kind.
Was born in London and remember those heavy lake effect snows. Glad to see your persistence with construction and protection. it's good to see some breezes clearing the canopy.
I live in north western Ontario Canada and have always looked forward to getting in my cub cadet with a snow blower and cleaning everyone’s driveway etc. Didn’t matter if it was-40C or whatever. Just love being out in the weather. Hey, but that’s just me. 😉😉😉
Howdy Sandy- yep, a good hot sludge is definitely in order. That much snow would be devastating for us southern boys. Take care and stay safe and warm. God bless
@@dakapbjI have a bobcat model S70, with a heated cab, I like to call it "the sauna" ... I have re-ducted and directed the heat down to the footwell area and after it has heated up you have to wear a t-shirt even if it's minus 20. But it's fun clearing snow... 😊
Sometimes managing a forest isn't easy or simple. What I do know is when they snap it means a forest is ready to be thinned. The wind will give the standing strength. When it this heavy and the trees are close and thick growth it makes trees week due to lack of wind. Man I feel for you
Some decades ago in Massachusetts we got a lot of heavy, wet snow. It was late in the season - May. Took down 30 trees on our neighbor's property and quite a few on ours. A sawmill took the downed trees away at a good price, but it took years for me to clear away the debris!
reminded me of the Quebec major ice storm .. my dad had 150 of maple trees .. most snapped in half .. He was a super tough guy .... I 'd never seen him cry ... He cried hard ... ~ thank you for sharing ... Bless you .... ~ i get it ...
We drove through Monday night before the storm...and I was thinking of you a few days later as I watched the footage on Twitter. Glad to see you had the equipment for the task.
Hi Sandy, to keep track vehicles from freezing to the ground we park machines on couple logs placed perpendicular to the tracks. good luck and hope the skinny skiing will be good.
The closed captions turns "Baumalight" into "Bomb of Light". Took me a minute to stop laughing. Good luck with your snow relocation. I hope that you get a little wind to move some of the snow out of the trees Many years ago we had a really mild fall. Then we had a really hard freeze on Halloween night. The trees hadn't "winterized" themselves yet and we lost a lot of trees as a result. It was a sad sight to see Thanks for bringing us along
Hey Mike! Sure is a sad sight out there. I"m worried about what's going on as I haven't seen the entire forest yet so there could be a lot of destruction just waiting for me to find it
when the snow gets 15 ft deep you can work on the rafters at snow level lol . going to get a couple really cold days this weekend . hopefully freeze the ground up

It’ll be melting in central WI next week, we live in the Northwoods and expect upper 30’s around Xmas. Don’t like this weather change, snow, melt, snow, melt.
That Balimalight is one bad ass snow removal machine, when you have big snow from mother nature you have to deal with it! You are a trouper dedicated to your property no mater what mother nature deals you!! Good luck! Merry Christmas!
Sandy! I bet that mini TS would handle a 6 foot snow scoop. I used a 7.5 on a slightly larger bobcat before and it worked great! The tractor would probably handle an 8 footer no problem! Snow scoop would probably make short work of plowing your yard out and do a neater job. All the best from the Northeast Kingdom.
If straight lumber is that important then I would build a portable tree shaker and save my trees . If those fallen trees are for firewood then forget my comment but I would still build the shaker because snow falling off trees is the equivalent of winter fireworks and I would watch it with glee . BEST TIME OF THE YEAR
I built a wood box open on front and top, secured it to my forks to make a big bucket and moved a lot of snow. Mine was 8' wide and 3' high, that Baumalight might handle 4' or maybe 5' wide. Depending on snow weight. Just a thought.
Oh no!! I hate when you get a months worth of snow in 24 hours. We had some heavy snow about a month ago in the PNW. It was the perfect snowman snow. Handful of trees snapped and uncountable amount of broken branches. Just like in your area, the ground wasn't frozen and trees are still leaning precariously. Gonna be a little scary this spring when they give way. Really sucks this happened to you. Take the sawmill and make some lemonade! Keeps us updated and watch your back in the forest.❄
Praying for the best possible outcome Sandy. I had several trees cleared out this summer around the camp and the outbuildings. Had a lot of learners. We have a fairly high snow load here as well. 70 pounds per sq. Foot.
Had a neighbor who used to use a concrete vibrator & a generator but don't see why one of the new battery powered concrete vibrators wouldn't work just as well. Trees transmit vibrations amazingly well. Lay the vibrator head against the trunk and 5-10 seconds of pulling the trigger works better than a good wind gust to drop all the snow out of the tree. Just be ready to get cold and wet.
Sandy, there is times like this when people that live in the North, have to deal with the Heavy Snow. I"m glad that I live in Florida, we deal with Hurricane's.
and this is why you clear the area AROUND your buildings in snowy areas... then they can snap all that they want and you just remove those covering the road and the rest when you feel like it... if they are just bent they are fine, they are quite flexible... when they are snapped you are not in doubt and then they would no longer be bent

If you have a high powered rifle, you can fire it near the trees you are worried about and the concussion will usually knock snow off the trees. Of course you need to pay attention to where you are shooting.

@sawingwithsandy made you want to cry. Had some really nice trees. Build a log addition on my house before they came down
I can imagine that feeling. Sad when a few days later things are cleared up with the weather and the trees change the landscape so much
If you have a high powered rifle, you can fire it near the trees you are worried about and the concussion will usually knock snow off the trees. Of course you need to pay attention to where you are shooting.
Hi - Of course I gave your video a big thumbs up. One question; where is your scarf young man? Stay warm when you can and thank you for sharing. I do love snow❄
Freezing rain would have been worse. Thank the Lord we are Canadians.
Yeah freezing rain is bad too
Nature's way of thinning. Nobody's forcing you to live out there.
Hopefully you get a mild Sandy so you can finish your build .🤞
Since you said no wind could you use snow blower to create a little wind? So long as snow isn't a wet snow.
You can use a leaf blower to blow the snow off the machines.
