This thing called the internet allows us to view so many things. It is full of people called "Influencers", unfortunately not enough role models. Sandy, you are not only a role model but a 'Legend Role Model'. Imagine what could be achieved if we all had your approach and ethics to a project. Stay safe, be careful on those ladders, we can wait to watch the progress if things get more snowy!
Snowpocalypse continues for this winter season. I've never seen so much snow fall repeatedly in a winter season in many many years. Your perseverance to keep on with the job is commendable.
As "dkraft" said. "Snowing with Sandy" seems to be the theme of your winter this year! For myself, after spending my entire life in Wisconsin, it gets truly frustrating making one step forward and two or three steps backward, fighting the snow, the cold, and the ice, for months on end, so for me, winters in Arizona are so enjoyable!!
good morning Sandy you guys do have snow this year for sure but even us here in St.Augustine Florida we are having the coldest weather in many years but this remind me more of the winter we use to have in the north when i was a kid in Quebec i remember the snow bank being so tall the road looked like tunnels and us playing on those snow bank and touching the telephone lines but i prefer snow, rain here in Florida then the fires they are getting in California. You are a tough one to stop nice to be younger but as we get older there are things that are more difficult for us but you are doing great maybe not as much as you wanted to but every little bit had up next you will you will have a roof on that building then scratching your head for what to built next maybe a little place to warm up and make slug with a wood stove going and a lazy boy to sit and enjoy lol have a great day
It always is a good idea to enclose an area you have gone to the trouble to roof over. Sliding barn style doors that overlap can close it in but allow it to open up as needed. Hardware is readily available at a reasonable price if you use UniStrut. Think how nice it would now be if you had a dry area to work out of the wind and snow.
Thank you! It sure feels like it's going to be a big one. I"m not too sure about the final size but I"ll definitely have some things I like and probably don't like when all is said and done
howdy now you know to keep your work area clear of items that would shut your snowblower down never know when mother nature brings lots of snow keep safe ,have a good week.---jimbo
Normally I remember where I've piled things but where I live the things that catch ya off guard are all the tree debris (branches etc.) that falls with heavy snow and then gets buried
I saw your video on Deboss garage! I can say that I never hit a back stop! Ever And i have been sawing as long as you or more ! I own a 28 acer bush with all natural foliage and don't deal with problems with trees falling over it seems the planted trees maybe because of how they are planted are less resilient to natural weather! I take it your down by Bancroft Up here in the Ottawa Valley hardly no snow at all four inches maybe!
Good job on putting a block on the pole to rest the lower end of the knee brace on. I have watched too many people try to hold it in place and start the screws all at the same time. You could use the cutoff pieces that you were tossing to hold the brace even better. The 45° cutoff with a board scabbed on each side would make a pocket for the brace to sit in that would hold it really solid. I hope that the weather cooperates with you better for the rest of the winter. Thanks for bringing us along
Howdy Sandy- I noticed you had some blocks to rest the bottom of the knee braces while you got a screw in the top. I did that when building my sawmill shed. Sure makes it easier to hold. I have gained a new respect and admiration for our northern friends who do battle with a lot of snow. We just got hammered with 10-15” here in western Arkansas. It’s pretty much got me sitting here with cabin fever lol. Needing to be in the woods cutting timber for the project I’m trying to do. Nobody here has chains for their tractors, me included. Take care and stay warm. God bless
Good work under trying circumstances, buddy! It's going to be a fantastic sawmill when you're done... just keep plugging away. I wish I could be there helping you..................
I have to hand it to you Sandy, if I were in your situation I'd say "I'll get back to this in the spring" and find something inside to do in the meantime. Hats off to you sir.
Thanks Roberto. I considered some more intricate joinery for the bracing but I don't have any experience with that type of joinery so I may have to practice before putting it into action
HEY sandy I always enjoy watchin you progress on your projects. You actually inspired me to buy a Woodland Mills saw mill last fall but winter came too early to use it. You will be surprised to hear that you have WAY more snow than we have here In North Pole, Alaska, just to the east of Fairbanks. Our snow is not as wet. I will keep you in my prayers that you have safety and success in your projects. Take Care. Trapper Dave in Alaska
"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these sawyers from the swift completion of their appointed chores ". Hang in there Sandy I feel spring in the air LOL.
Ye ha i was 900 thumbs up, work all my life in snow,so i know it can be a pain, always blowing snow before you can work, to bad you didnt have those curtains hanging like you use too. Maybe call Gord Potter from gp outdoors he loves to blow snow
Dang bud, we get 6-8” of snow in Oklahoma and people lose their minds. I can’t imagine what you are going through. Be safe, our prayers and thoughts are with you.
Sandy, I was wondering about the shelter you store your firewood in that collapsed under the last snow event. Is it a total loss or salvageable? My sister always said if you can't handle winter you don't deserve the summer. One of these days you need to get that ski doo out and have some fun!
I hear ya there! That skidoo is just itching for a ride one of these days. I think that portable shelter is likely a total loss as it appears as though most of the poles are bent. I"ll probably reuse the tarp part though if it's not too ripped
hi there you are one tough young buzzard . just think when you get old you can stay inside by a warm fire and watch guys like you , lol dont get hurt we like watching your shows , best to all john
Great to hear from you John! I'm so stubborn I"ll probably have to get my winter fix even as the years get on but maybe in shorter amounts each day haha
So odd how where our place in Alaska is hasn’t had much snow really but temperature’s have been swinging from -15f to 45f or so. Wild year so far. I’ll take snow over freeze and thaw cycles any day, though both will make you wish for an early spring. At least day light hours are getting longer!
Hello Sandy. You had quite the atmospheric dump on your hands, but you have seen at least similar. I hope you don't find any treasures with your blower. Would a guard at some level work or just hinder the blower's ability to work? Have good days!
If you are going to work outside in that cold weather, you need to have one of those heat guns that are battery-operated to thaw out your tools. I know...... I'm so helpful, sorry just came to mind.
That's a neat idea. I've not seen that in action before. I do get from time to time when the weather gets warm and then. cold again, ice build up on some tools
You can get the bit that fits your impacts: T-25 or T30 I do not know if you are using the same torc screws, I have some here that are 12inches long and we can get up to 16 inches long, they are very good, I use them often
Great Video from the Great White North. I have a question. Unfortunately it is not really related to the video other than you using the snowblower. We are in the process of moving into our new home that we had built. Our new place has a 700 foot driveway and is unpaved. On your snowblower do you use some type of "edge tamer" to keep the cutting edge above the surface or do you just go by feel? My tractor is Deere 2025R with a mid-mount PTO allowing me to have a front snowblower. My neck hurts for you when I watch you use your snowblower 🤣. (Yes I am old). Thanks for such great videos.
Hey David! Good question. When the ground isn't quite frozen in the early winter I tend to drive over the snow to start to pack it into the stone laneway and then after driving over it a little while I go over any new snow fall with the snowblower about 1/2" up using the height adjustment shoes on the underside of the snowblower. I don't have any other edge tamer on my snowblower
Holley smokes! you are buried in snow again Since the first week of December we had approximately 3 inches of snow that came down at the very most. For me it is plenty I am from eastern Canada and I do not miss tat kind of snow at all
I sure wish I could have one of those "get out of jail free" cards to end winter and take me into spring. The novelty of the snow is wearing off on me haha
Funny you mentioned that as right after I said those words I was thinking that the days are actually getting longer now that we're past the 21st of December. With the snow howling I figured instead of doing a second take of that clip I'd just roll with it to see if anyone noticed haha
@@sawingwithsandy Haha, that's cool and understandable. I really like your videos even though I don't always have time to watch them all. Keep up the great work!
I hear ya there Dave. I've got some big things coming up so in order to keep those plans in order I have to keep the ball in motion rain, snow or shine
whatever happened to the curtains that you had put up previously to keep snow from drifting in old saw location bet you wishing you had left it up / maintained new sawmill getting covered in snow ???? wondering what problems you going to have by not atleast covering the sawhead have seen other channels that left mills unprotected $$$$$ repair to get functional again
Those tarps were collecting wasps nests so I took them down last summer. I've run the sawmill in all weather conditions and it works well. Just have to keep the battery charged up and it fires right up
You'll have to rehang your canvas tarps on 2.0. Sandy do you use the insta 360? Snowing here now too, not what you have but we're getting some fluffy stuff. Positive vibes to you. 👍🇨🇦🚜🪵☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️
"Snowing with Sandy" series is epic!

It's certainly making me start counting down to spring already haha

You sir are a trooper! You're also correct.....moving forward an inch at a time you'll eventually get er done!
Thanks Earl! I figure if I don't get started, I"ll never finish (at least that's what kicks me up out of my comfy chair in the morning haha)
Looking great Sandy! Way to stay after it regardless of the elements. 👍🏼
Holy moly you finally bought an impact driver!
Enjoyed your tenacity, the wind bracing on a 45 in the shed roof is a great idea , also the knee braces, enjoy your youthful enthusiasm
watching from COOPERSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA

make a knoch in post and the beam to aid in locking place to keep screw / bolt from allowing slipping

It sure is challenging building in the snow. I've been working on this off and on since September
Not to mention setting up video.
@sawingwithsandy you should put your sawmill under the eves of that log cabin shed you built.
it won't quit

@@sawingwithsandy I did some 12 inches long screes with a cordless impact driver Mastercraft Maximum and I had pre drill the first part
