There's about a 50/50 chance that Khalida beats you to Lahmia. There's also a good chance that Skarbrand declares war on you while you are bogged down fighting Queek and his numerous stacks. Definitely not an easy start for Thorek after 5.2.
I think it's a mistake to go Toolmaker over Oathgold building, the benefits of getting Oathgold items early just heavily outweigh the extra gold. Things like Master Rune of Spite, or the Regeneration Tankard.

Great comment, thanks! I agree with the oathgold production normally, but I feel in the central provinces where Deeps are to be constructed, the construction reduction adds up tremendously, allowing for more military are upgrade flexibility. However, I could be mistaken at the power of said items early on as this can save on upkeep of additional units, but this doesn't resolve the issue of needing multiple armies for the many fronts during the campaign.... TLDR: I'm being honest and saying, for outer provinces, I agree, but I'd need to experiment/crunch some numbers regarding the Deeps provinces as those buildings are expensive!!

@@ElvenPlotArmour I haven't experimented with rushing the deeps. I've heard that people have had success at using them to break the economy, but I play on legendary and expand too aggressively to afford them early. With Dwarfs I've had good success at using diplomacy and careful expansion to protect core territory with the occasional emergency force, LegendofTotalWar-style. I can snowball quite fast by pursuing Age of Reckoning and grudge confederations.
Regenerating dwarf characters can be amazing. A squad of 4 can potentially take on multiple stacks with Rune of Spite and Rune magic support. Around turn 60 I'm generating enough oathgold per turn that almost every character is wearing at least a full set of oathgold blues.
The 5.2 AI's behavior of only building toolmaker chain has been really unfortunate for my play style though, as I valued getting the additional runes through confederation on the prior patches.

Man I love your regular videos, but you really need to improve your battle skills haha. No disrespect but it's really painful watching you make basic mistakes in combat, and I'd prefer you to go to an easier difficulty or take more time in battles that lose heaps of units or battles.

None taken mate. I typically take a bit to warm up to the balance of managing the chat vs navigating a battle. I enjoy streams prioritising the difficult problems strategically over the perfect execution of batltes, and as long as something isn't critically ruined we can bounce back. I guess if there's 2 viewpoints I'd like to convey is 1) perfection doesn't matter. Don't hold up your campaign when perfection can take twice as long but only offer a 3% net benefit, and; 2) Fun can be had on high difficulties. There's a long standing misconception Legendary is just to exploit cheese when I find it gives me more reason not to cheese and have more fun whilst doing so. There's a lot of focus on dialing everything up to 120% to the point people think it's the new 100%. It's important to have fun and I've found myself and my viewers have more fun when I have adversity to grind through. If that comes at taking a less serious approach to battles that's a trade I'm happy with :) Still, appreciate your viewpoint and maybe I should point out more where the 'optimal' strategy is and where I'm going for entertainment.

@@ElvenPlotArmour Nah I appreciate your response and this viewpoint. Ig I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I might prefer someone like Legend's way of playing over yours, but I can definitely acknowledge the interest that organically generating a "disaster campaign" can generate. In either case I'll keep watching your regular tier lists and guides even if I don't always watch your streams - all the best with all your content and your channel though!

@@sandygehrmann6309 Appreciate the classy feedback mate. Legend nails the min/max approach and has fun doing it so that's a niche that's absolutely filled. My angle is more laxed, showing high level results can be gained without cheese or perfection (and not at the expense of roleplaying/fun as per common misconception). I love Legend and it sounds like he's absolutely your jam. Stoked to have you as a viewer and good luck in your campaigns. Cheers
