Remember if you keep gunners in squares instead of a stretched rectangle firing line, they turn and shoot way faster. It can be useful if the enemy army has any fast moving flankers or flyers you may need to react to quickly.
Vlad is a joke barly an inconvinenc super easy. Beat him on turn 10 11 and 14 by 15 there were no Sylvania. And yes legendary and max hard level battles. The key is witch hunter with acussation and 5 units of guns and vlad die like a bitch.
This is finally the DETAILED tips and tricks video I've been praying for. All of the larger channels do broad strokes and don't explain really that much what to do and it's a waste of time to me. Thank you for putting this up
I'm at turn 125 of my Elspeth campaign and I can def confirm the first few tips. Vlad's not even gonna give you a choice, he's gonna come for the Empire within the first 20 turns and you better have a stack or two around to counter his constant 5 trash stacks. Your settlements are on the front line. Skrag's gonna wait until the most inopportune moment to declare war on you, keep a stack in the South or build a Black Tower at that choke point so you can zoom back down when he decides to show up out of nowhere. Become friendly with the Dwarves to the south, I think it's Klan Angrond? They're gonna sweep through the south where Skrag's at and create a nice little buffer for you when the Greenskin's eventually come calling. Those settlements aren't favorable for the Empire anyway, may as well let them have them. When Norsca came calling for Bretonia, I helped them out by keeping a stack nearby so they didn't get wiped out, but just letting them die and then taking their settlements is a good option too. Eventually I got tired of Wulfric's BS and I sent a stack up there in encamp stance to show them the error of their ways. I waited until the very last 20 or so turns to confed Reikland, he does a good job of holding the North and I had enough to deal with at the time, but I could have had him within the first 50 turns I believe.
Honestly, just an amazing write up of what to expect and how to deal with it. I also agree with holding off the Reikland confed. Too much territory slows you down needlessly and the coastline travel into red territory means you need more than just 1 army to effectively sweep through it.... and it's not that profitable anyway haha
I confederated quite early and the only reason I made it through was by teleporting from hot spot to hot spot with Elspeth to knock down the biggest enemy stacks
Skrag was such a pain in my rear when I did my Elzbeth run. I took the whole province associated with Akendorf then peaced out with him. Well this introduced me to the orcs, who decided to come from the badlands. Skrag had a few settlements there as well. All that territory being red really did not incentivize me to finish them off, but even if you peace out with them they keep coming back. Very annoying.
As always, great guide Elven. Your use of fast missile cav to bait is really nice for those who struggle with fast flankers. Your start is very similar to mine. I usually go to the gobo settlement first and then the fort. From the fort I go snag Karak Izor before Belegar and then sell it to him for a handsome fee to pay for the over budget early armies, make sure there is a barracks there first before selling it. The other tips are spot on from what I found happening in my campaigns. One additional thing I found is that Wurrzag, if he rolled high, consistently made a beeline for Averland and piled on along with Skrag. Keep up the great work!
@@ElvenPlotArmour No issue with the wood elves. I usually keep them happy with gold but I also send any army to take out Saratosa and Ikit for all those glorious gunpowder faction schematics. Killing the skaven makes the wood Elves my best buds.
Im on like my fifth or so Nuln campaign, here are a few things ive learned. Pick up any hero or lord with hochland scopes attribute, even if you cant afford another Lord just disband them immediately and rehire then later. Its an amazing attribute. Use the gardens of moore militia to shore up chokepoints. This is great for grenzadt (like he stated) fort soll and waldenhoff If you can afford it, unluck riders of the empire and marksman of the empire ASAP. The unique outriders and handgunners are amazing. Speaking of outriders, I never cared much for the non grenade types until now. If you get them the upgrade that lets their shots slow stuff down they become amazing and usually stick 2 in each army. I try to have 2 empires wrath in each army. Tanks with their changes to mass can get so many kills just hoovering up enemy bodies.
I always complete the bottom line of Trade and Industry before moving on to unit buffs. I think the added income really helps you snowball through the mid game
Elspeth is quite a fun campaign to play. One campaign tip is when you secure a province, instead of opting for the usual growth (+20), go for the control one instead. Having control in the positive seems more important to the early game, as it increases control anyway. Prioritise control over growth. In settlements, I opted for income over the growth building. Found that a steady level of income to maintain the army is far more critical than the longer term strategy of growth. You'll get growth through control and the empires overarching authority mechanic anyway. Later once you hit tier 3 and need higher levels of growth can switch if needed, and when income isn't so much of a problem. Second campaign went a lot smoother and vlad was gone so much quicker when I could afford a decent army to take on the armies to the east much earlier before they got a foothold.
For invading Vlad I rushed handgunners early with her, and I had a second stack of pistoliers. It’s still gonna be a rough first fight because vlad is vlad. And then I went at him a second time and he had two full stacks of black knights, vargheist. I thought of sending to legend it was so hard but I prevailed
I agree with pretty much everything except research. I would honestly reccomend focusing on economy and the imperial colleges to get heroes as fast as possible. With the Empire i recruit melee infantry only if i got no other choice.
I agree, infantry are also worse in auto resolve compared to just handgunners and infantry take too much losses that sometimes forces you to replenish for a turn or two. As elspeth you gain too much buffs for gunners in battle plus low recruitment and upkeep cost that you just want to go all in with gundpowder
Appreciate it mate - Cathay guide is coming and being worked on concurrently (those vids are huge to do). Malakai is next and hope it tides you over haha
Brilliant guide, just what I needed after finishing Franz! So we don't get the Student follower anymore by annoyingly stopping research every turn and winning battles?
Thanks for answering this - just to add, this is the same for all factions. Honestly, it's a blessing. This game has enough going on for new players to worry about switching off your research haha
@@ElvenPlotArmour yeah didn't bother adding this as it felt obvious as I don't think anyone would think a follower shared by different factions would have different method of being acquired
Covered Gelt already. Karl, I'm holding off on until I can do a definitive video on him as a first campaign guide (like Ming). I want to break the mold and show Empire absolutely is a newcomer faction. No faction has converted lifelong fans like the Empire of Man so if I can help grow our scene I'd like to try. As for Nurgle, there will be a Chaos season coming, likely before and after the next DLC.... all the godz will be covered start to finish
terrible "10 perfect turns". dont follow most of this shit, for example you should kill orc horde in turn 4, not 7. turn 5 is time for fort and 6 steingard...at turn 8 you can be killing vlad already...same with sieges, 1 cannon 1 mortar 1 fireworks + 2-3 gun units is all you need to win every siege without even 1 people from unit killed. building garden on south is waste because you might easy loose it, and settlement has low number of valid neighbour cities. Averheim and the Moot should be gardens with upkeep reduction as it stacks. Really guys think what you can do with tools you get, than listening to people like here call "perfect turns/starts"that are total bullshit.
I disagree friending the wood elves, atleast not for the entire playthrough. Wood elves dont play very nicely with the high elves, and the high elves tend to get very powerful. I usually bribe the wood elves until im ready to get rid of them, then befriend the high elves once ive taken all the western ports.
Perfectly sound strategy. I think we're both in agreeance with the underlying theme of "Don't have Wood Elf war unless it's on your terms. Never get sprung by them". It's an easy to miss area of diplomacy that could end a campaign for someone unaware!
Remember if you keep gunners in squares instead of a stretched rectangle firing line, they turn and shoot way faster. It can be useful if the enemy army has any fast moving flankers or flyers you may need to react to quickly.
Vlad is such a menace, I like that Elspeth has a bit more stuff in her arsenal to deal with him, though. Finally! ;P
Lowering the healing cap.. thank you!

Hitting Skrag pro-actively if you can is really solid, his defeat trait is bonkers on Elspeth.

My pleasure. Cheers for the patience! Should be regular again after this.

Dat -10% building cost though...
The BEST thing in Elspeth's arsenal are speed debuffs from cannons and hellblasters. If your enemy is approaching at 10% speed, you win
What a great video, I love Elspeth!
Probably my fav Empire lord now!

BTW. Cntrl + Shift Right Click to manual target for artillery units. A lot of people don’t even know it’s a thing.
Ah someone else who puts one pip into Emperor's Finest. I fnd that +4 Melee Defense makes a big difference early game.
People sleep on it, but it's a point that can save a clutch battle which could save your campaign. Priceless on Legendary.
As a Magic the Gathering player i can't stop cycling every time someone talks about Elspeth.

Garden is Wurtbad is critical for gaining access to Vlad. I can normally get him done by like turn 16.
He delivers again o7
I read this: Hell Divers Again….
I been in the creek too long.
5 waves of rocket on enemy to delete the stack. One single rocket on own units from the back deletes half the stack. gg
Aw yes Elspeth the Ikkit Claw of the Empire

FOR THE ALGORITHIM!!!!!
YT has you flagged as one of the most "hearted" users of my videos, which means you comment the most. Grace to your sacrifices to the algorithm
Wipe the wood elves, gift the forests to Belegar
Haha that works too! 😂
you skip a lot on turn 3, like what edict you picked first or how you leveled elspeth with those 2 points.
First points go on missile units for elspeth. They are key in the early battles.
