This is awesome. I literally just bought WH3 the base game 3 days ago and have completed both Miao Ying and Zhao Ming’s campaign for immortal empires. And I am loving it! I even bought both predecessor games (1&2) yesterday for more factions to try out after watching your dlc guide. You just pump out amazing content mate. Keep up!👍
Hey thanks for the comment. Cathay are an excellent faction to learn the game with so it's awesome to have helped someone find their feet. Welcome to the scene. We have a discord if you want to discuss more strats. Cheers for the support!
When I need to get close to the enemy but I'm not in a hurry, I go in walk mode so that my troops don't get tired before the battle. Very useful and entertaining video! Thanks for all the tips and tactics.
I attempted that in WH3 and I couldn't manipulate the formation? In WH2 I could do this, but in WH3 I've found it's not possible. Am I missing something?
You start dragging on top of the wall and pull right. I could send you a video, if I knew how to send you one. Otherwise, I learned of that technique in one of LegendofTotalWar's Bastion Gate disaster battle videos. I don't remember which one. But any of his siege defense videos could have it in it.
Thanks for the great video. My biggest struggle is when the skaven keep ambushing. The ambush system is weird. All the archers are in the back and immediately get set upon. You are better off just moving everyone to the exit box and not even attempting to fight back. Despite losing a ton of troops during the battle, most of your platoons survive and are at 2/3 strength.
Still some of the best build guides out there. Have you done a Wood Elves formations guide? I saw the other shooty factions but didn't see a Wood Elves one.
I feel the Ancestral Warrior summons from the lore of Yin should have gotten a mention. They are excelent against your usual biggest problems: Enemy SEM or Artillery. 1 of the bigger reasons, I prefer Yin over Yang.
I did give a brief mention to them, but you're right, the artillery disruption they can create is worth an entry by itself. Yin is overall stronger in the late game provided you have a strong ranged contingent. Still, at level 1, Yang is quite reliable and strong in sieges.
Man you've become such an easiest to follow on total war reviews or tips i've seen ~ sometimes i don't need LEGEND of total war guides i need to understand "how to plan" micros with kool examples like you show.. I've never liked this siege mechanic ever since the main campaign days. But today I came back Warhammer 3 because finishing SP2 i still want more Warhammer.. getting back to siege mechanic has become hard to know now. ( coz of too many factions & updates ) so Thanks & cheers. I just want a Good HARLEQUINN game bro. Its really OP & weird content ignored by CA or 40K creators. I enjoyed a small chuck of that in rogue trader game and got obsessed with them. If only total war 4 was set in 40K..
This is true, they don't take damage, but your units can be indivdually blasted into enemy crowds (and picked off) as well as lose your positioning which is essential to holding choke points.... moreover, a shot that hits your units didn't hit theirs and 1 blast can be quite decisive. You're 100% correct but I'd still recommend avoiding friendly fire as normal for the aforementioned benefits. Still, appreciate everyone that chimes in with a clarification, so cheers mate!
because the moment they begin their climb on the wall your towers are no longer a solid reason to stay on the wall: they become inactive when u leave the wall. holding position isn't recommended because they'll be swarmed with enemies and perish. their value lies in protecting damage dealers like ranged troops, holding chokepoints so their flanks are protected.
I might look into that. For Cathay I wanted to use campaign battles as there are so many modifiers to the units that substantially change their utility in battle. I could be a good idea to do an "advanced formations" video down the line which forgoes some defensiveness in favor of wider reach. Cheers for the recommendation!

Such a great guide, but such a fast and blurry way of talking T__T Please slow down a bit! There are so many times we have to skip back a few seconds and try to understand what you are saying for several times. Best UA-cam Creator for Warhammer Fantasy, excellent tips and informations, but just a little hard to listen to.
Hey mate, thanks for the in depth feedback. I'll work on my delivery - sorry if it's causing you to re-listen to segments. I Cheers for the subs and kind words. Hopefully the future content gets better to listen to 🍻
Time for some melee oriented factions! Who do you want next?
Greenskins. I think theres some very cool potential army comps for them, especially when the armies are goblin focused.
Although it will be the complete opposite of your normal videos I think it would be great if you cover slaanesh or khorne.
Go for Khorne/Slaanesh/Nurgle when Nurgle drops. Or even a Monogod sort of idea around that concept
Kislev!
Greeskins

Absolutely stellar content. Was struggling with army comps and formations and this was exactly what I needed
Cheers bro
Did you forget, that you can drag out infantry on the walls to cover more tower points?
I attempted that in WH3 and I couldn't manipulate the formation? In WH2 I could do this, but in WH3 I've found it's not possible. Am I missing something?

@ElvenPlotArmour you mentioned them in the army abilities, where they also good.
Otherwise I agree Yang is stronger until somewhere around level 12

Works go burr....but also with all the new swards maybe a slayer themed battleine when it drops?
Can't wait to try it!
your vids are awesome man
Thanks mate, cheers for watching!
towers don't do friendly fire damage
Correct, but they disrupt your formations
This is true, they don't take damage, but your units can be indivdually blasted into enemy crowds (and picked off) as well as lose your positioning which is essential to holding choke points.... moreover, a shot that hits your units didn't hit theirs and 1 blast can be quite decisive. Why post melee units up on the wall if they have to fall back the moment enemies make contact with the wall? I'm not understanding the concept
because the moment they begin their climb on the wall your towers are no longer a solid reason to stay on the wall: they become inactive when u leave the wall. holding position isn't recommended because they'll be swarmed with enemies and perish. their value lies in protecting damage dealers like ranged troops, holding chokepoints so their flanks are protected.
PLs do a series with fairer and stronger ai mod with better ai army composition
I might look into that. For Cathay I wanted to use campaign battles as there are so many modifiers to the units that substantially change their utility in battle.
