Its amazing to me to see how young he was and how much talent was pouring out of him at such a young age. Some substantial part of that must be just innate. When I was that age, I didn't have 5% of that talent in anything.
I'm a girl who is almost 40, but my father showed me a bunch of great singers and bands. I always liked Rik's guitar versatility! He is amazing! I'm never get tired of his singing talent, but his guitar playing is a class art! I love TRIUMPH and his solo... Holy ghost... it's incredible! Lots of love from Russia!

No doubt about it! I've lived through the greatest era of Rock and Roll! Triumph, April Wine, Nazareth, Jefferson Starship, Kansas, AC/DC and so many more. JAM ON!!!

Rik Emmett is a national treasure and his name belongs up there with the greats and that’s just his guitar playing. His singing/songwriting is just as good if not better than most. Wow, bravo Rik and Triumph!
Triumph....one of greatest Rock Bands of all time, and as I grow older ( 60 ) I realize that there are only a few bands with 3 members that are worth a lick of salt compared to these guys.
Yeah, 58 myself. I have always loved them. If not for MTV I may have never heard of them, don't get much radio play. Saw them in Rochester NY in the 80s, great live band.
Saw them play When the Lights Go Down, Lay it on the Line, and Magic Power last weekend. Only 300 people in the venue, and I was 2nd row. Fight the Good Fight has been my anthem, but Never Surrender is right up there with it lyrically. Triumph songs always inspire.
This deserved more airplay than Hold On or Magic Power. Within 3 working hours on a Friday and the next Monday MP was played. Now this is a Friday song!!!!!!!!
One of my favorite bands of all time. Rik Emmett is a virtuoso both vocally and instrumentals. Their live shows were jaw-dropping. Would love to see them reunite and tour again more than any other band!
I watched the documentary about them on Crave and it was bloody amazing. These guys have a dedicated cult following and I've never been one to prefer one band to the other. These guys are awesome
I am 57 now, from Argentina and have just discovered this band a few months ago, but heard of them back in the eighties, they´re absolutely awesome!!! Rick Emmett is a great guitarist/singer. Thank you Canada!!!
They were even more amazing live. Their light show was even way ahead of the times. To this day I still say they were one of the best live concerts I’ve ever seen. Oh, and Rik still sings and plays amazing so many years later.
Rik Emmett still tours. He's lost some of his range, but sounds good. You can look up the videos by putting his name in the search on UA-cam. The man is 65 yrs old now. I was lucky enough to see them on tour back in the day. Yes, I'm old too. ;-)
@john thonig I'm curious now what your top 5 are. I'm a huge Def Leppard fan too. And they are definitely in my top 5 along with Scorpions, Van Halen and Boston.
@john thonig I've seen a few myself. Triumph 3 times. T7 Tour easily the best. Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, Van Halen (5150), Alice Cooper to round out the 5.
Rik Emmett opens his mouth and I literally can fall to my knees! ❤ Amazing vocalist AND guitarist!! This band is hands down freaking amazing! Hall of Fame in my book! ❤
It was 1987. I entered the local record shop and bought me Nightranger "Dawn Patrol" and Triumph "The Sport Of Kings". When my sister died that year I listened to this two records all day long just to cope up with my sorrows :-)
In the dark days following our first ascent of Wings of Steel, Triumph's music was timely to Mark and I and profoundly uplifting. Songs like Fight the Good Fight and Never Surrender were touchstones. I can't thank Triumph enough for resonating with our souls and helping us get through!
The "other" Canadian Trio...not for me. These guys never got a fair shake or an easy time of it. Rik Emmett is so underrated it's ridiculous. I mean seriously, he plays lead (amazingly) AND sings lead. Yes, Gil sings lead as well and doing that as a drummer, I understand, is also very difficult. Basically the 'cup runneth over' for these guys, there's so much talent here and they are the nicest guys you would ever want to meet. I feel privileged to live just minutes from them.

First covid, then summer forrest fires and now fall floods. I am ok but there are many who have lost a loved one, or a home, or their farms, or livestock. Back again after years of going round different genres of music but there's always a key message in triumphs music that makes me feel like I'm coming back home to what we all realised when we were growing up and learning about ourselves, that its a jungle out there and we have to stay strong

I was diagnosed with Leukemia almost 3 years ago at 48 yrs old and am determined to never surrender to it. Thankfully our kids are grown, but the thought of leaving my precious wife of 31 years is too much to even think about. Absolutely world class. And with his pipes I'd say the best lead guitar/singer ever. Billy Squier a close second.
I got to see them in San Diego, in 1984, one of the best shows from true performers back in the day.
I know Rush Was more popular and people get a hard on when you compare the two But I always Preferred Triumph 🖤
I love Rush, but I love Triumph more!
I think it was because Geddy was such a sexy beast!!
Triumph had been music. Rick's guitar mastery is 2nd to no one.
