Nice bat rep. Destroyed vehicles being replaces by obstacle terrain is a great house rule. Cinematic and adds to the dynamic of the battlefield. It reminds me of when I used to play Spacemarine against my brother when we were younger. We would turn the destroyed vehicles upside down so we could track the carnage :D Keep it going guys. I'm getting as many LI batreps in as I can while I paint up the starter box. So stoked to be playing epic scale again.
Glad you liked the batrep, and the idea of leaving destroyed vehicles on the table. I think it's a simple and easy change that adds quite a bit to the game. Legions is a great game, so I hope you'll let us know how you like it once you get a chance to play! Should have another batrep coming this weekend. We'll be playing one of the asymmetric missions from the Great Slaughter campaign book.
True, though when facing Alpha Legion range isn't often an issue! That Forward Deployment would definitely help an assault group in a less Infiltrate-heavy game.
Nice battle report, always like to see Legion battle reports.. Any link to the lists? No solar Arty? Support weapons? Titans? A Rever with a grav gun is a real building killer. Colossus or Marurader bomber with wing bombs can really do a number on ground forces. Just spa you know I have played 5 games and lost all of em so take what I say with a pinch of salt.
We can definitely start posting lists if that's something you guys would like to see, or maybe do a rundown of the armies at the start. In my experience titans and aircraft haven't ever performed at a level that would justify their points cost -- but maybe I haven't given them a fair trial. As we do more of these reports, we'll try to mix it up some to keep it fresh so hopefully we'll see more exotic units on the table soon.
Nice battle report. Shame it ended so early but I agree the Alpha legion had the board and had done so much damage. The infiltration was so devastating, missile launchers into mid field buildings early while dreadnaughts put so much pressure on the Solar. Think the Solar needed some of their own infiltrating to push the Alpha Legion back, even it was just a strung out core unit, but counter charging ogryns would do a number on even the leviathans. Between furious charge and close order they effectively become CAF +6, match the rend on the leviathan and are much much cheaper (8 leviathans = 145, 4 las solar & 12 ogryns = 120).
Thanks very much for your thoughtful comment. I agree with all your points -- Alpha Legion is a very tough army to deal with, especially when you play it as well as I think Jeff does. I did have an infiltrated pioneer company on one of the middle objectives, but it got picked apart by missile fire and Leviathans. An option might be to screen my deployment zone with infiltrating units, rather than put them on the objectives, but then that just gives the opponent control from turn one. I do need to be better about utilizing Close Order, though, so thank you for bringing that up. As I mentioned in the video I think one big weakness of my army is a lack of flexibility; a Sky Hunter Phalanx, Termite Assault, or Drop Pod Assault would really give me some more options to threaten the backline, which might give me a fighting chance.

If the Demolisher Russes go into a Pioneer they get to Forward Deploy which helps with the range.

Lists would be great
@@marksullivan7766 We're doing a battle report this Sunday -- we'll either post lists in the description or go over the armies in the video itself 👍
