- Welcome back to the BMW E30 Baur Restoration! In this video we tackle the bad bodge repairs on the rear corner and replace the rusty rear arch and sill.
Its good to finally tackle the rust on this car and try to get it looking brand new again! We found hidden rust on the arch and sill and replaced it all with good metal

You have GOT to use proper protection working in the shop. "Welders are at risk for photokeratitis when their eyes are exposed to bright flashes or “arcs” of UV radiation while welding. This type of corneal welding injury is also known as “arc eye” and “flash burn.” The shipyard I worked at had a graphic safety video. Use a wire wheel without eye protection - see picture of eyeball with a wire stuck in it, drilling without eye protection - see picture of eye...well, you get it. You do great work and we'd love to see you do it for years. PLEASE!!
Not to mention the fact that mild steel weld fume is a known cause of cancer.
They ain't gotta do shit!!
This is one of the very few channels where I catch myself tilting my head trying to get a better look while you are working. Superbly done.
Outstanding skills and workmanship. Can watch the expertise for hours...
Very good once again but I'd love to see one of your car's finished and running lol😢
A real vehicle surgeon , nice work. 👌👍
arc eye proof eyelids! I'm soo jealous. Mine aren't, I get arc eye through closed eyes.. have to wear my mask. And you have such lovely masks too...air fed and everything!
Unfortunately there is no safety leadership in this business when the owner frequently flaunts safe working practice.
Very theraputic just watching...Plus my fave Audio tracks....🤔😏😀😀😀🇬🇧
You sir are a true artist in every sense of the word. I wish I had a pinkys worth of you got. I'd love to do this for a living or a hobby.
Good to see the safety squints being brought into play!
Hello 👋 good buddy Ryan captain yorkshire, buddy you done a jolly fantastic job 👏 you are one super talented man I know that for sure. You are extremely good at your profession and I'm extremely proud 👏 of you Ryan it's a true privilege for me to watch you and your dad work in the shop .you will always be my favorite captain.
A lot of skills here, so nice to see. 🙂
My evening just got 200% better🤩🤩 by watching you guys 👍🏻👍🏻
Do you normally just use tiger seal rather than spotting or plug welding the arch lip on ? Is the result as good as good or better than welding ? Great video as usual.
Great question, I’ve seen them use this method before, and wondered if it’s as good.
2:06 thank you so much for finding that screw for me. I always wondered where that thing went.
Probably removed a rattle that had driven people crazy for ages too.
A pleasure to watch your work. Thank you.
Diggin' the remixed tunage at the beginning.
Brilliant video again and my fave music to go with it at 7.30
I agree. Can you lead me to the artist/melody on Spotify? (love the sheet metal working as well)
@@magnustoner4402 I don't know what it is. He uses several tracks by the artist. I am not even sure what words they sing, kind of abstract but so relaxing and seems to go with the work somehow.
@@magnustoner4402Nomyn, “Lucid”.
Very nice videos and work you guys do! What did you use for inner arch? some kind of rear arch that fitted? Cheers from Denmark
What was BMW playing at with those round plates in every foot well? What are they for?
More great work 👍
Good work 😎 tell me what music ban do you use in your video. Awesome it goes well with your repairs 👌🏻
Splendsatial!
Ayup Ryan great to see you back ! 🇬🇧👍🏻
Missed to see you doing your great job. But now its fine, you are back again 🤗. Best regards from Germany.
Great to see such talented work as always!!
You really did a nice job on repairing the wheel arch and inner panels and rocker.great video.just keep doing what you do best and carry on.😎😎😎👍👍👍.bye the way you still have your real job, don’t you.
Thx
Did Matt turn up to see his BMW at the car show ?
Splentastular, I'm sure that's a perfectly cromulent word. Great work with the overlap and cut, did the same on my project based on your videos and it also turned out splentastular.
If it wasn't a word, it should be now.
What happened to the video of the rear outer arch being welded in? I'm really interested to see how you handle it.
I have tacked it in for now, but later on in the build series I fully weld it. I've not edited that video yet :)
@@yorkshirecarrestoration thank you! Looking forward to watch it.
Great to see u back I miss u and Steve so much
Excelent as always.
Fantastic work 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧🏴
Спасибо за видео! Музыка хорошо подобрана. Всегда интересно наблюдать за вашей работой! Удачи каналу!
Bostin our Mostyn!
Impressive..... as usual.
161 ЛАЙК!
Great content as always, but what about the 'Z', it's been soooo long now, you promised... you promised....
Good job, I wonder what happened with the outer arch metal excess which you have pushed under the quarter?
I pulled it out as I cut through. I didn't want to leave it in there don't worry. At 13:44 you can see I've pulled it away so I didn't weld it and after I pulled it all off
@@yorkshirecarrestoration wow well done, didn't notice that. thank you. like watching you're doing your magic.
What terrific precision craftsmanship! 😛👏
An accurate aftermarket panel?🤫
Ryan please use the protective gear when welding. Your eyesight is important and welding without eye protection will eventually cause major damage that is not repairable like the cars you work on. We want to see you able to do this for a long time.
He’s closing his eyes
Yeah, I have afriend that kept doing that. Burned the shit out of his face and a couple times his eyes were sore for a week. Had to go get medicated drops from the DR.. Safety equipment was developed for a reason.
Yeah there’s a reason for the mask I think it’s just a bad habit some people get into when tacking the metal
8:28 what is the music at this point in the video ,love it can you tell me please ,ps your an artist when it comes to metal something I love doing id love to come and see you for a day to learn some more fabbing ,been doing it 27 yrs myself always learning ! Just one day working with you !! 😊
I believe it's Nomin.
Really chilled 😎
Edit Nomyn👍
Aaah the world is once again in perfect balance, Ryan sculpting fine German panelwork and ripping out bodgery
1:28 is that the corner of a roof of an E30 M3 😃
I am surprised that these BMW E30 are such rust buckets! They are not really that old!
Theres always good and bad examples of all cars, I have 2 E30's both solid never seen a welder
UK climate. Damp + they salt the roads when the weather gets cold.
Why are the round bits in the middle of the floor pans always rusted out on all these bmws?
They hold dirt and moisture
@@wayne9518 silly design really every BMW they have done has had the same problem
That grey underseal / sound deadening material they use seems to make things worse
What is the interesting spacey background music you often use featuring the female vocalist?
😎😎😎😎👍👍👍👍
These guys never cease to amaze me how most of these projects are less than 1/2 a rusted panel away from recycling. And yet still undergo extensive surgery. Amazing. Would love to know what completed projects actually cost.
Nice! Almost forgot the Baur was there. Now for more episodes on the disaster Datsun.😁
Ryan is such a talented guy!!
Restoring cars by day and acting on Netflix's Baby Reindeer by night!!,😂😂😂
Oh gosh 😂
It would be easier to chemically remove paint and rust from the body in an immersion bath, right? Don't think it would be much more expensive, especially easier for you.
Please shout me out next time as your first viewer 😂 also love what you do!! Such amazing work and videos!!🙏
Where's steve
frage was kostet so was!
You really love rust? the mort the better.?
The music is starting to become an annoying queue music by now. But I shouldn't whine looking at such craftsmanship,
This relaxing music is perfect and good like it is.
No stupid, overly loud rap music, and endless talking- thank god. 😊
There are 3 new tracks in this video. I spend hours trying to find new tracks which are copyright free and suit the video. It's not as easy as some people think it is
@@yorkshirecarrestoration Yes, all is fine- especially your choice of music I really love. Aside of the amazing work and craftmanship. 😊
