My uncle use to raise chickens on his homestead. One year money was tight, and he decided to mix saw dust with the chicken feed to stretch it out and get him through the winter. Well in the springtime when those chicken's eggs hatched three of the baby chicks had wooden legs and one of them was a woodpecker.

Katie, I have been wanting to say this for a while. I did not because of no way to comment while watching on TV. Today I am on PC so I will say what is on my mind. You are one beautiful lady with stunning brown eyes. Please put on safety glasses when operating the nail gun. I watch another channel Wild Wonderful Off Grid and her husband almost lost his eye to a nail gun. Since that time about 18 months ago he wears safety glasses. Murphy's law is at play at all times. God Bless in all things. Love from Texas.

We started out with milling being Greg's true passion, with him wanting to build the complete home with just his own milled timber. Then, due to time constraints, had to abandon that plan. But, now we all also understand the peace and tranquility of working at the mill, not only for you both, but also for us all as well. Incredible.

Spin those big logs with your tractor. Wrap a chain, cable, or rope around the log a couple of times, with the tag end coming out, and up, in the back. Tie off to your forks and gently lift up, causing the log to spin. Much easier on your back.

Work smart not hard = a wood trolley (or an arch with two wheels) would definitely be an extremely helpful device to have (DIY fabrication is easily possible). With something like this chained to the end of trunks, one can easily pull those (even big/heavy ones) with a tractor.

Greg my friend, yes it seems mind numbing to stand and push that saw but what I get to see is, we as
city dwellers, have to mindlessly walk up and down market isles to choose what we want (or what is
offered) and pick mostly mid quality stuff where as you get to roam the isles of great forests to pick
and choose high quality usable goods. How many if honest would prefer what you have in comparison. .....
Often while watching you mill that I almost can smell the sweetness of the fresh cut wood in my living
room. Hard work yes but look what you get in return...the satisfaction and sense of well being taking
a downed tree that would otherwise rot in place and turning it into something of beauty and usefulness.
I am so very thankful that you guys choose to share with us your daily lives. Guess it is just a difference
of your point of view. Looking forward to seeing how you use that new milled wood.
lov ya guys, Me southern AZ. (USA)
