Katie, another great opening sequence showcasing the baby chicks. The barn doors and trim give the barn a finished look. Greg, that log was massive and you did a great job balancing the tractor as you moved it to the mill. Blessings to you folks.
Man you guys did this barn project at lightspeed! Looking good! Love the idea of the door that you cut in half. That log was a monster.......that wind is crazy.
Fabulous teamwork guys, so glad you didn't have flip-flops on while standing on the wood Katie 😂. I think I'm as excited as you two about the kids arrival, having kept goats as a youngster, they are one of my favourite animals ❤ xx
You REALLY need a counter weight on the back of that tractor. The heaviest 3 point attachment you have will work pretty well. That chipper looks heavy enough to be useful.
I just found your channel. What a joy it is to see a woman use the tools. I had a reciprocating saw that I used for trimming up trees and cutting up wood. I’d loved it, and all the men around me thought I was insane and they were afraid of it. I’m in my 70s I’d still use that saw and I did up until two years ago when I moved. Love to watch you work together.
My wife and i love you guys and we loved this episode despite the lack of tiny goat kids, a missing music cue and Greg’s defiant insistence on shooting hand held shaky-cam v-log shots. Seriously though, you are both just killing it lately! Much respect
Just another case of doing what you have to do to get done what needs getting done. Sketchy stuff, but, you got it done! The mill and the tractor are the two best purchases you’ve made!
The wind looks really bad , like the tree's may blow into the house. Not sure if that's the case or not, hope 🤔 not. Great content guys 👍👏 thanks for sharing 😊.
Greg with a 3 point hitch on the tractor why not put a counterweight on the back end so picking up larger logs becomes more stable? Just a 55 gallon drum with scraps in it would help with keeping the back tires on the ground.
We've done so many similar things, including handling monster logs. If you have an tiller or backhoe for your tractor, you might want to have it on for counterweight when moving the other half of that log. Also, when trying to lift something very heavy with the forks, we've been surprised to find that if one of us operates the tractor and one of us actually grabs the tip of the forks and pushes up, it's just enough extra lift to make it happen. Of course if you can't reach the tips of the forks or if that would put you in harm's way if the thing you're trying to lift falls, that's not advisable. Love your videos and chemistry.
Greg, can you do a simple ""Sliding Barn Door""? Sliding to the side allows for more usable room. Just a thought. Boy! Have never seen a tractor do High stepping before like yours did moving that log. Spooky stuff that is! Specially on that steep slope. I consider each log like that a real treasure. Think of all the wonderful things they will make. Be safe be blessed be original. Be you. Me southern AZ. (USA)
I like Douglas Fir also. That was the prominent wood available at the supplier in AZ back in '82. I used Douglas Fir to build my daughters bunk beds and also built many things/furniture for the house out of it to. All came out nice. It is soft though. Barns coming right along.
I'm thinking that with that big wind coming down the valley that you'll be getting some new downed trees to mill . Also I'm amazed that the tractor didn't do a wheelie with that big log on it . The barn looks really good Also , but it's to bad the tractor doesn't fit in it yet . Happy Trails from Eastern Canada to Western Canada . ✌ out
Great idea having your door open in instead of out. Anyone who lives where it snows knows the snow always builds up to where you have to shovel it out just to open it
Yall need to get one of them big hooks like they have on flat bed tow trucks and use your tractor to flip them big logs. Seen them doing that on another saw mill channel!
Y'all killed it on that Barn. That looks good enough to live in it to me great job. You know the symbol that you have with the goat when you introducing y'all's channel how to make two of them and put on your door that'd be killer bad.
Hi Greg and Katie, Love your channel and your aspirations that seem to be coming to fruition in superb ways. Just a suggestion regarding heavy logs, if you put a chain round the end of the log then loop the chain round the forks and secure it then you are only be lifting half the logs weight then lift it to clear the ground and tow it in reverse so only the tail end of the log will be in contact with the ground. Congratulations on the extension to the barn it is beginning to look more like a lovely Cabin after the work and thoughts that the both of you have given to it. One other thought about the doors is the amount of swept floor space that you lose by having them open inwards.
Greg, I made a counter weight for my small tractor out of a barrel. I filled it with concrete with three point hitch pins and a top connection for your top link.
Merci pour ces splendides images et bravo pour votre courage au travail. Faites mes amitiés à toutes les bêtes qui vous entourent, chiens, chats, poules, chèvres … et poissons rouges. Thank you for these splendid images and congratulations for your courage at work. Send my regards to all the animals around you, dogs, cats, chickens, goats ... and goldfish.🙃
Hey Greg, don't hurt your yourself trying to rotate those monster logs on the mill. Instead, get a piece of chain with a hook on it that is just a bit smaller than the hook on your cant hook. Make sure the chain is long enough to go around the fattest log and over the forks on your tractor,. Be sure to slide it back by the mounting rack where it's strongest. Next, wrap the chain around the log and hook the hook into the log, not into the chain. When you lift up the forks the log will roll the log the direction of the wrap. Sort of like wrapping the string on a yo-yo. I had a winch mounted on a beam up in the rafters of my mill shed and I had a hook I attached to it to accomplish the same thing.
Put a implement on the tractor for counter weight. Back down the hill and have fun lol. Katie please put on some safety glasses when using the nail gun.
Katie, you made another great opening intro sequence to start this video. The barn doors look very nice... in fact the entire barn looks great. Katie, your giggles and laughing are refreshing. Blessings to you two.
It might be useful to fill the rear wheels of the tractor with water as extra ballast. Then you have more weight at the back and you can lift heavier items
That's an outstanding barn. Love all the colors. It pops in your eyeballs looking at it. All your personal flavors are now embedded in your barn. The goats are stubborn, not delivering the kids. Guess they wanted to wait for a cozy barn. You can put a solar generator in there at night and hook up a portable heater system. A couple extra hinges on that big door. You will be farther ahead if you add them now. Hugs from Santa Barbara . 🤗😘👏😎🙏✝🍷🌹🐐🐣🦃
hello you guys I have an important Tip for you all the logs, small or large perhaps you knew this or maybe not but I would like to let you know the importance of peeling all of your logs because if you don’t because of bacteria that live under the bark rotting takes place much quicker, which intern creates a lot of problems later on so I thought I would pass this on to you how important it is to peel all of your logs no matter the size. So yeah that’s about it. I want to wish you guys all the best and I send my love and prayers for you both. By the way, enjoy the wonder of birth, because it is a real wondrous thing and I really pray that all goes well. God bless and thanks for sharing your life with all of us here on UA-cam. 😊❤👋✌️🙏😉
What you need on the tractor is a 55 gal drum on the rear of your tractor filled with rocks or gravel as a counter weight so your tractor can handle the heavy logs , naturally attach it so it can be removed as necessary!
Great Job as Alqays can Hardley wait for the next video to see the new kid's and the Garage door are another Homemade barn door things are looking Soooooooo Good Hope Gregg gets the lights installed bflefore the next video as well.Hope the wind didn't do any Damage @ your Homestead !!
For a latch for the big door you could have floor joists stretching the length of the door with hand made heavy duty holds on both ends and one each in the middle 😊
Man so impressed. It’s entertaining to watch from beginning to end and see your thoughts and figures to to be. Looking great can’t wait until the next episode ❤❤
Greg, try washing the saw blade in warm soapy water and scrub the pine resin off, I did this, seemed almost like a new blade, love the video, and Katie love the sound track... thanks.
Use a chain and the tractor three point hitch , lift on rear and drag the log, becareful not to overload hydraulics when using the forks. The barn looks very nice and doors are awesome. You could finish nail scrap wood in a fan pattern above entry.
I just love your wat of thinking Gregg...visualise what and hoe and then try to actieve it.. barndoors look great..good thinking ...I lol when jou made a tractor wheely😂😂 Kathy i love the music specially the first nr... Great job guys..
I wouldn’t change one damn thing either 🎶 great song!! You’re the sweetest couple and we all just love you. Wishing you great success in all things 🥰🥰👵🐕 Ottawa
Barn/shop is looking great. The reverse board and batten look on the doors works well. FYI- the sound cut out at the 16:30 mark for about two minutes, right up to cutting the two tractor doors apart. A little pucker factor involved bringing that big ass log to the mill. (I'm talking about me.) To rotate the big logs on the mill, used a strap wrapped around the log and let it rotate as you lift with the tractor forks. Mitchygloss just adopted this method on her latest video. Thanks for bringing us along.
The triangle piece that is not done above the big barn door I would use the same stuff you used for the roof of the peek you would gain a bit more light through it.
I have a friend that built a 16 pole barn all out of old telephone poles, all the wood was from them he found a person with a mill that did all the wood for half the wood! His job was to replace telephone poles that had woodpecker damage! All cedar it’s a beautiful barn!
I was watching to see you skid that big log, i have a similar tractor and know it gets wild... you could invest in a log skidding arch to attach to your 3pt hitch. Nice work guys 👍
I think the reason I enjoy your videos so much has to do with the chemistry between you two. With great videos produced, wonderful personalities and the love you obviously have for each other, you are a perfect combination! Thank you for sharing. ❤️🇨🇦
You say Katie is beside herself, so this is a perfect time for you to get her help on another project because all three of you can get even more done then just the two of you. I will now watch the rest of the video and see if that's what you do !! Katie times two is a big win for you Greg !
fantastic work on the doors the transformation from the old structure is amazing . Hopefully you will see babies soon. Nice boards you milled from that large log so solid , real nice watch !
What you two achieve is fantastic - the transformation of the barn - the pens the new doors. No need for more wood at the store - just pop down the track and pick up part of a tree and pop it on the mill and there is you restocked. Great enjoyment and jealousy as far to old to even think of doing some small projects that you do - Also no access to forests like your here in Central France- Thanks for the quality of your videos.
Having a dirt floor, worries me, as a predator can dig in. Either dig a trench and pour some concrete in it, or, if you have some rebar or other steel laying around(not that you have a pile of stuff or two LOL) drive it in so if the dig, they run into it. it wouldn't stop them, but will cause more issue/take too much time to get in, and they will give up, or, the dogs would wake you in time to run it off. That won't be the last big log you have to drag I am sure. Build you some dollies to put up under one end, then the tractor will only need to lift half of it. Or rig you up an "Alaskan saw mill" That uses a chainsaw(You can use a ladder for that type of mill) That way, you won't waste any usable lumber.
Hi guys! I have an idea for your goats! Save one of those slabs you're cutting up and put it on a round log, and make a SEESAW for them. They will love it and keep's them entertained.
Love your channel. I have been watching for quite a while now, and to see what you two have accomplished is amazing. I really appreciate the scenery & animal shots that you have started showing at the first of the videos also. I wish you continued good fortune & look forward to watching more of your progress.
Wow at 11:19, Paolo Nutini... great choice :) Once again, I truly enjoy your videos and all your hard work. thanks for sharing your life with us all.

@@PeterKNoone that’s funny, it feels slow to us. The list of projects is long 🙃 thanks for being here
Great vlog dogged determination and hard work is your way and results are superb those goats are so funny and mischievous 😊😂
Same thoughts here. Especially when I saw the wood shed and remembered your work on that. You two are on fire 💪🔥
Fabulous teamwork guys, so glad you didn't have flip-flops on while standing on the wood Katie 😂. I think I'm as excited as you two about the kids arrival, having kept goats as a youngster, they are one of my favourite animals ❤ xx

Barn looks nice enough to be turned into a cabin to live in.

7:32 Finally Katie. 🥳🥳🥳
Thanks!
wow, I can't believe we didn't' see this sooner. Thank you so much
I put 4 of those hinges on a door that size. Lasts longer and no maintenance. 😁
Agree, especially with them used for the tractor, bumping is inevitable.
Raining and cold, hold on, sending you some 100 degree days from Alabama ! 😅 8:59
Just another case of doing what you have to do to get done what needs getting done. Sketchy stuff, but, you got it done! The mill and the tractor are the two best purchases you’ve made!

Wauw Greg that was a very mutch work and the wood look,s so good the tor you make look,s so very nice and Katie you look very very nice 😗🤩💯👍🙌💪
Whenever you drag an Iarge log, place a few round tubes or little logs underneath the larger log perpendicularly, and then simply roll 💚🤍❤💯💯💯💚🤍❤

A nice mix of animals and work nice to watch
You guys need to take the axle off the old camper and use it as a dolly for long trees just as the power company’s haul telephone poles. Good luck.
Fill your tractor tyres with water. It will hold your main wheels down, give more traction and lift more weight.
Great idea having your door open in instead of out. Anyone who lives where it snows knows the snow always builds up to where you have to shovel it out just to open it

Why do you have the doors swing inwards? Doesn't it make all that space useless since you have to keep it clear to open the doors?
Katie, you made another great opening intro sequence to start this video. The barn doors look very nice... in fact the entire barn looks great. Katie, your giggles and laughing are refreshing. Blessings to you two.
Greg moving the big log gave me a heart attack afew times 😮 Doors look awesome.
Douglasfir used for building because of its capacity to hang on to the nail real hard, you guys are doing a really good job!!
It might be useful to fill the rear wheels of the tractor with water as extra ballast. Then you have more weight at the back and you can lift heavier items

Try pushing a rake or pitchfork thru that packed sawdust first to loosen it up. 😮 30:57
Love the baby chicks, great video 😊
happy little chickens and safe Goats....Love it guy. =) -Jay

Definitely need to put one of your 3pt attachments on the back for ballast and safety. It will make your front axle and bushings last longer.
Don't comment much, but your channel is one of the few that we watch every episode.
The music was great while milling!
Put a floor in your Barn and I would live in it. Another great build you two.
Looks good but you guys need a LogRite Fetching Arch to move those logs. It would make it so much easier on you and your equipment.
You have such a wonderful voice Katy!
The goats look happy
Great Job as Alqays can Hardley wait for the next video to see the new kid's and the Garage door are another Homemade barn door things are looking Soooooooo Good Hope Gregg gets the lights installed bflefore the next video as well.Hope the wind didn't do any Damage @ your Homestead !!

Hallo Greg. Du solltest dir ein Ausgleichgewicht von einem Ölfass mit Beton gefüllt für deinen Traktor bauen. Schöne Woche.👍💪

I love the way the barn looks !!! It is so pretty !!!!
The barn looks great! It looks beautiful. The planer does a wonderful job. Love the door.
Fab idea for door ❤
Your barn is really an excellent piece of functional art ..
Use a chain and the tractor three point hitch , lift on rear and drag the log, becareful not to overload hydraulics when using the forks. The barn looks very nice and doors are awesome. You could finish nail scrap wood in a fan pattern above entry.
I just love your wat of thinking Gregg...visualise what and hoe and then try to actieve it.. barndoors look great..good thinking ...I lol when jou made a tractor wheely😂😂

Great job guys..
I wouldn’t change one damn thing either 🎶 great song!! You’re the sweetest couple and we all just love you. Wishing you great success in all things 🥰🥰👵🐕 Ottawa
You guys have definitely gotten your money’s worth out of that mill. The doors look good. Keeping going like this, and it will all look amazing.
Greg, the tractor master at work.
Great looking barn doors ! Greg and Katie, I have watched almost every video of yours for the last 2 years !
I like your goats and chickens !
Y’all are so creative using the castoffs for the tractor door!
Cool barn dors. I like it.

Love the color of the Bearded Iris your barn looks fantastic. God Bless from your Canadian Friend.
I Never miss your vids. You 2 are by far the interesting, diverse and hardworking couple on youtube. Mike in the uk. Fantastic.
You guys are amazing. inspiration to us all. keep up the good work.
The triangle piece that is not done above the big barn door I would use the same stuff you used for the roof of the peek you would gain a bit more light through it.
I think you guys is mine looks amazing. I love what you do with the doors.

The Barn is looking really cool
Antlers for the barn door handles
The barn doors turned great! Cant wait to see how you fill in above the tractor door and cant wait till you start on the addition. Stay safe!
The barn looks great. You two amaze me with your creativity.
I was watching to see you skid that big log, i have a similar tractor and know it gets wild... you could invest in a log skidding arch to attach to your 3pt hitch. Nice work guys 👍

WOW that was a cool way to make the big doors an make them line up great job guy's
fantastic work on the doors the transformation from the old structure is amazing . Hopefully you will see babies soon. Nice boards you milled from that large log so solid , real nice watch !
Your doors look awesome.
The barn looks amazing as always you two do an awesome job with everything you do 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️

Didja ever think about building a dolly for moving those logs? Would be neat to make the wheels out of the trees 😊.
use the three point hitch to skid the log
Having a dirt floor, worries me, as a predator can dig in. Greg’s lucky to have you Katie but yowzer what a man!😅
Hi guys! I have an idea for your goats! Save one of those slabs you're cutting up and put it on a round log, and make a SEESAW for them. They will love it and keep's them entertained.
Your doors look amazing🎉
If you put a showel under the front end of the log, it will glide much easier
Love your channel. I have been watching for quite a while now, and to see what you two have accomplished is amazing. I really appreciate the scenery & animal shots that you have started showing at the first of the videos also. I wish you continued good fortune & look forward to watching more of your progress.
Awesome job. I love the way you utilize the materials available to you.
