SWEEET..... WELL DONE. MAYBE BRING IN SOME MATERIAL AND A GRADUAL SLOPE TO RAISE THE AREA YOU WALK ON. A STEP WOULD STICK OUT. BUT ITS SUPER SOLID NOW. ENJOY THOSE WARM DAYS, IT RAINED ALL DAY HERE IN SOUTHEAST IDAHO AND 60 DEGREES... AHHHH SO NICE!... GOD BLESS YA ALL.
Wow Katie little bit of a tease at the end of the video come on now he could have put it on at least halfway through the video😋😋😋🤣🤣🤣❤💘👍👍👍👍Good job you guys And girls😁😁
Greg and Katie you work so well together 👍🏽 but Katie please wear proper shoes 🤭 while your working, I would hate for thing to fall on your feet 😳 Katie you make it looks so easy and I know it’s hard work , thank you 👍🏽
Your cross pieces are bolted.. Just unbolt them and turn them around.. Then your stop pieces will be on the back side to catch your logs when you load the mill.. I had to do it with mine a few years back... You may have to unbolt one side that you anchored down to give you a little play ... Then once done, you can re-anchor your rail back down to the frame... Hope this helps... Keep up the good work...
Good afternoon Greg & Kate, I thought I'd quickly jump on as you both were in my thoughts. Were you aware of the fires breaking out in British Columbia ? As one lady stated that Trudy had withheld news on these recent events in your Country. Why a person wouldn't notify their people, is beyond me. Remember, no property is worth your Safety . And yes, we all have watched just how hard you two work on this land. Your goats are Mischievous, & put the dog in his place.🙄 I don't usually do comments very often, but just relieved your both ok. So, all to say, is keep up the good work. Stay Safe ! ❤️ Hugs & Well Wishes from England UK. Rhonda. BST: 16:00hrs.
I tried to copy a paste a youtube video for welding hooks on your tractor loader. It will make your life sooooo much better. I could not copy and paste, so search youtube for "DON'T WELD CHAIN HOOKS TO YOUR BUCKET WITHOUT WATCHING THIS VIDEO". The addition of angle iron on top of the bucket where you weld the hooks is VERY IMPORTANT. It will save your bucket. I know y'all have more than enough to do, but you will never regret this addition to your tractor. And, the added bonus is it will be much safer in a lot of instances, especially when loading logs on your bucket with a cant hook. Safer is better. Y'all are doing great work.....keep on keeping on.
Good morning you guys are good afternoon hope you guys are having a great day I know it's Sunday but the have fun guys and enjoy life one-step-at-a-time we love you guys God bless you❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊❤
My uncle used to winter in the forest cutting railway ties, all by hand with a broard axe and hand saws, now thats a tough job. You guys did a big days work, i bet you sleep well 🙂👍
next time you have to cut the tree like that use the bucket on the tractor to hold up the bottom of he tree that might help you love and prayers from Wales
On sawmill take out and change the center brackets around so your log dog is on the other side if you can. It only two to change I think 🤔. Good luck and job 👍🏻
Off Grid Life and Michygoss has now become my favorite Sunday night double bill. Lovely job on the new sawmill platform! I do think that a raised walkway would complete the job nicely though. Just sayin.
My nephew has a mill like yours. He puts all his long edge scraps in a rack that is designed so when it's full , he runs a chainsaw down it ever 18 inches and uses it for firewood.
Hi to both of you , listen I watch quite a few of you homesteads, I can tell you without contradiction your up there with the best, by that you guys Ppear to struggle sometimes, and it shows, but, you are a team and a good team, , I wish you could get running water that would I think be the icing on the cake , I wish youall the best, in the future, AL BARR 78 GLASGOW SCOTLAND , AND JUST A LITTLE , PS, YOU HAVE ONE OF THE MOST INHOSPITABLE I HAVE SEEN , MAY YOUR HIGHER POWER GO WITH YOU.
All those offcuts someone doing cabinet making, finishing carpentry would love to have. The big pile of sawdust is great for the base of a good compost pile. If it's built well, compost before winter sets in. Shame to chip it. Smoky here, smoky there, ugh those massive fires around Kelowna, the Shuswap. Careful with that stack of offcuts now, too damn easy to ignite. Take care, watch the skies.
Hello everyone, maybe you could find a very helpful tool to make the transport of your lumber a bit easier? It's called a "Log Arch" or "logging Arch" -- to drive the Kubota with this heavy logs on the front loader ------ Have fun -- and all the best from Germany! H.
Several years back Oshkosh Wisconsin college built a visitor center for their college. Oshkosh had many Sawmills along the Fox River back in the beginning of the founding of the city. When they went to drill the for the foundation they had to go down over 14 ft before they hit dirt and bedrock. 14ft was how much Sawdust dust along the River from all those sawmills
Your Idea of a Cement pad under your sawmill is indeed a good idea! Keep your Sawmill scraps / firewood picked up, stacked up and out of the Snow, and cut it up in whatever length you Stove or Fire please takes.
I have just come across your channel. I will have to go back and look at your previous videos. You are both wonderful. Not being sextets in any way but Katie as we say in Ireland “you are some woman for one woman”. Great videos guys and amazing content.🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Can't you just unbolt the Timbery Log rest holders and flip them to the other side? Those mills have to be universal for all types of setups and locations.🤔
good job , well done now just clean out the other side and feed the logs in from the other side fixed , oh build something on the sawdust side so you can pick up your timber with the tracker later i think what you have done is much better keep up the good work
Doug Fir, nice lumber, nice 'windfall', you guys are making it real. My mixed up corgi is obsessed with herding people, nips all the time at feet/shoes, people freak, just like goats I reckon. Maybe you could set that milling sequence to Seger's 'I love to watch her Strut'? ;)
Are the metal cross beams that hold the square tubes to stop the logs from falling off just bolted to the runner rails, if so is it just a simple case of unbolting and turn each one around to face the other way, do them one at a time so you don't knock things out of square.
That mill will be so much better now. Looking forward to the deck build. Sometimes it looks like the goats hold their own against Juniper. The ball distraction does make for a more family friendly walks. Thanks for the video.
Now that is a lovely mill setup. Yes build a walkway platform, then your always working out of the mud in bad weather. But also build a few X Frames to hold the off cuts then, when full, Greg can simply chainsaw them into firewood in-situ.
Sometime in the future you both will look back on all of this hard work and smile knowing it was worth the sweat and toil. I get a kick watching the animals especially the two goats. Take care and be safe!
Katie, no matter what you folks have for a project, you seem to be capable of doing most everything. You don't shy away from pitching in and doing some of the hard work. You are strong and have confidence so you can tackle projects. When you smile it shows you know you did a great job. Blessings to you and Gregg as you move forward on your next task.
Have you guys ever thought about a rack for your off cuts from your mill. Makes for a great place to stack them then cut into useable firewood for heat. I use to buy bundles of off cuts gram a mill. Bundles were 4’ x 4’ x 8 ‘ I used a ratchet strap around the middle to tighten up the bundle. Then cut the steel band strap that the mill put on. Then I used my chain saw a cut to the length i need for my wood burner. Worked great.
I applaud your work ethic and willingness to tackle any job! However, I'm surprised that you don't try and organize and keep your space clean. Maybe it's because you have so many projects that need to get done. If you had planned ahead when you got your mill to have it on a stable surface you wouldn't have had to take this time to do it and likely wouldn't have had issues with milling your lumber. Having said that, keep doing what works for you and congrats on getting the mill on a more solid platform.
I expect if you had a chain, or even the right cable, you could probably drag 2 logs at a time dragging them behind with something to keep the tops from digging into the dirt. Looks like you are having fun too, so there is that.
How many outfits did KT change into? I would recommend building your log stop outside the mill frame so the logs wont shift the mill when it plows into them. Maybe dig 2 post holes and set 2 wood posts a foot above the rail. Move the saw head in line with the log stops to be sure you have clearance. When loading the log ,remove the metal stops so you can roll the log onto the bunks, 4 more post holes for a saw head winter cover..
hello how are you friends... hope you are always healthy
You guys sure could use a couple of hooks welded to the top of your tractor bucket...
Thanks!
Thank you
Gas post hole digger!well worth it

If you put a deck next to the mill bed to set drop the logs onto then roll onto the mill bed will. Help save on the mill bed
Hello my friends🚜🏴
Katie, my wife likes the red, white, pink & blue combination for the hi biz work clothing!
Your dogs and your goats are so cute!

Dang Katy, look at those muscles carrying that huge 2x plank by yourself! 💪
Anything that is heavy enough to make you walk funny, should be shared!!
I so enjoy watching your videos. The old veteran.
Me too old timer! I could watch other folks work all day!😛
Hey guys you need to get forks for the tractor
Other than the music, this is one of the better homesteading channels I've come across.
@ 28:00 time to buy the auger attachment for the tractor LOL or before doing all those post holes
Good morning you guys are good afternoon hope you guys are having a great day I know it's Sunday but the have fun guys and enjoy life one-step-at-a-time we love you guys God bless you❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊❤

On sawmill take out and change the center brackets around so your log dog is on the other side if you can. It only two to change I think 🤔. Good luck and job 👍🏻
Well guys what is next nice job on the mill now that should make u want to get to milling love u guys❤
Can you unbolt the cross members that hold the dogs in place and turn them around, rebolt in place??
Off Grid Life and Michygoss has now become my favorite Sunday night double bill. Lovely job on the new sawmill platform! I do think that a raised walkway would complete the job nicely though. Just sayin.
Good job guys your wood should come out just fine now timber away ! Lol 👍👌
hi people, Greg I'd just like to say a happy life is a happy wife ! cheers you two.
My late wife was like Katie, not afraid to get dirty and helped me with everything, boy do i miss her 💔💔💔😞😞😞
Juniper needs a football helmet with those goats and touch down on the wood mill.
Nice very nice. Platform is a great idea to make it ergonomically accessible to all
a strong pretty wife and a good husband ...... good luck guys💯💯
Suggestion
Undue the crossmenbers that has the dogs on them and turn them around. That will put the dogs on the other side.
My nephew has a mill like yours. He puts all his long edge scraps in a rack that is designed so when it's full , he runs a chainsaw down it ever 18 inches and uses it for firewood.
Stay safe.
Guys you could use a set of pallet forks to move all that stuff. I use mine more than my bucket. Great to see your content.

I built an arch for my 350 yyahmaha quad Ican easily pull a 24 foot by 20 inch log. Saves a lot of wear and tear on my equiptment
Nice video. Congrats on that. Change usually brings some difficulty. That is a way to learn. Ron PTL USA
Love how good you treat your animals!!!
aw yes i was wondering when you was pour a pad for the saw mill nice work

Better still; ask for bids! Kubota, john deere?
Your hair looks good ! Let it grow out !!!

Wow nice thick solid posts. That stand/platform thingy is looking good!

Hi Greg and Katie. Could you unbolt and rebolt the cross members around so that the dogs are on the side you want them to be on perhaps?
We were happy to see your video up today, we were worried about you both with wild fires both in Canada and Washington. State.😊
Good job on the platform.
You 2 are little work horses🎉🎉❤❤
Awesome love the mill stand

I've done the no cap trick before. You handled it better than I did 😀
Good idea for mill...Awesome job!... hope your safe from forest fires!
Great job. Yes a platform for the sawmill would be so much better to walk on.

Swap those cross braces around. Dogs will be back on the correct side.
That mill will be so much better now. Looking forward to the deck build. Sometimes it looks like the goats hold their own against Juniper. The ball distraction does make for a more family friendly walks. Thanks for the video.

Great video. Superb CAN DO characteristic you have. Teamwork will take you far in work and life.
That base is just so good. What a job 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

They are just so cool. How good would you be at living in nature? Why do you think so?

You are strong and have confidence so you can tackle projects. When you smile it shows you know you did a great job. Blessings to you and Gregg as you move forward on your next task.
Aaand………YEAH!
Great addition to the mill base. Hope the fires are staying away from you. Prayers from Florida.

You need to weld or bolt onto your bucket some grab hooks and use log chain. Safer, faster, one person operation.
Have you guys ever thought about a rack for your off cuts from your mill. Makes for a great place to stack them then cut into useable firewood for heat. I use to buy bundles of off cuts gram a mill. One suggestion I would give you maybe is to weld 3 chain hooks on the top of your loader bucket to secure to when moving stuff around.

You two work so well together, the new foundation for the sawmill is fantastic! Now back to some great milling😂
This is what I call living in nature. So cool place surrounded with trees. How much nature is there where you live?
What a score with that tree!! Nice job guys
Much better with a strong frame under the mill! God bless you guy's!
Lol that last log load last Iooked so sketchy but it worked!!! The mill looks great!!
I applaud your work ethic and willingness to tackle any job! However, I'm surprised that you don't try and organize and keep your space clean.
