Several years back Oshkosh Wisconsin college built a visitor center for their college. Oshkosh had many Sawmills along the Fox River back in the beginning of the founding of the city. When they went to drill the for the foundation they had to go down over 14 ft before they hit dirt and bedrock. 14ft was how much Sawdust dust along the River from all those sawmills

Now that is a lovely mill setup. Yes build a walkway platform, then your always working out of the mud in bad weather. But also build a few X Frames to hold the off cuts then, when full, Greg can simply chainsaw them into firewood in-situ.

All those offcuts someone doing cabinet making, finishing carpentry would love to have.
The big pile of sawdust is great for the base of a good compost pile. If it's built well, compost before winter sets in. Shame to chip it.
Smoky here, smoky there, ugh those massive fires around Kelowna, the Shuswap.
Careful with that stack of offcuts now, too damn easy to ignite.
    Take care, watch the skies.

might be overkill, but for a longterm goal build a deck/platform around the mill, and the back section there could build a small covered area to store your smaller cut lumber, with some like lumber racks, 2x4's 2x2's, 4x4's whatever, and that way u can mill whatever you have, and store lumber for later use, without having to worry about rain warping it.

How many outfits did KT change into? I would recommend building your log stop outside the mill frame so the logs wont shift the mill when it plows into them. Maybe dig 2 post holes and set 2 wood posts a foot above the rail. Move the saw head in line with the log stops to be sure you have clearance. When loading the log ,remove the metal stops so you can roll the log onto the bunks, 4 more post holes for a saw head winter cover..

All the excess byproduct (aka: slab wood) can be used as firewood or mulched. By the looks of your stockpile you may want to process it soon so the build up doesn’t become a fire/ trip hazard.

Lots of work, and you will get lots out of it. What are the plans for this big pile of cutoffs, since there is a lot of bark in there? How deep is your frost line? With the mill that high, it will be easier on your backs pulling the planks off.

    Awesome job team!
For your lumber mill, and everyone else's that I watch. Why not have a 'slide' ramp that you have your logs on? This way you roll the next log up right onto the mill. The log platform should be the same or just higher than the milling platform.
Using well knotted (knobby) logs or cutting some groves into logs or beams that are smooth would allow enough roughness to keep the logs from rolling before you want them.
Finally, the last two to three feet of the ramp should slide in and out, or be lifted into place, to allow 'walking' along the side of the milling platform.
For an 11-foot cutting length mill, three beams or logs would work. Having adjustable legs or just adding shims would help maintain the levelness.
As for the 'backwards log stoppers, make the ramp on the other side and again store the logs on the platform. This would hold them off the ground.
The platform would not be solid but two or three logs or beams.
I posted this same comment on another couple I follow.

I really love your ingenuity and resourcefulness and your evident hard work and commitment. Keep going with that but I think this sawmilll project reveals something that I hope you can learn from. A job isn't finished until everything is tidied up and made ready for the next use. The mess around the sawmill can be avoided by having a properly organised discard pile and an offcut bin for burning on the log burner (or hottub). I really fear you tripping up on the very uneven ground with discarded bits of wood lying everywhere including your sawdust piles. Take great care and if I were a foreman I would be asking after every job 'Is everything tidied away? Is the equipment covered and placed for next use? Are the tools and accessories all put away? Is the work space all tidied up?' I would l love to be there and help you with that because it would make your insanely busy lives so much more productive and efficient - honestly! Glad to hear that the siding is in view: if you live in an environment where everything is not quite completed you will live like that forever...and I know off-gridding will have an element of that in any case, but finishing something will help you mentally and be less exhausting for you as you just go from one task to another. Well done in any case in resolving the mill issues.
