Great video! I am a physician(DO, EM) and developed autoimmune later in life. Some things, I would have assumed to be age-related. I began to see patterns. The areas and patterns of inflammation have expanded. I am relieved to be able to manage a great deal. I avoid anything that I notice to be a trigger. Kinds of emotional or behaviors that contribute are harder to track, and I’m working on it. I follow keto, not rigidly. I avoid processed food, alcohol, dairy, gluten. Several artificial sweeteners are triggers, although allulose seems to be okay. I eat fish(salmon mostly) Glad and reassured about legumes. They seem okay. I have lowered my protein. The scary part right now is Neuro inflammation. I am working to see the patterns there, which appear to be related to emotion processing.
I have neuro inflammation as well. As well as dietary changes, I’ve now started to use an ice cap every day for 20 minutes which really helps to bring the inflammation down.
How does one know they have inflammation. What are the signs? I feel ok daily especially since I no longer eat salt or salty foods. I was never a big meat eater. Carbs were always my go to for comfort.
Paleo definitely worked for me, reduced weight, full energy,no hungry, sometimes even one meal is enough.even though I got gout, i will 100 percent confirm, no gout flared on paleo diet after eating lots of meat. Now I eat everything, put on lot of weight, gout flares, now knee pain not able to bend my right knee completely, after work I can see knee swelling. I can say legumes also culprit for gout. Very difficult to follow paleo if other family members doesn't support it. I started slowly intermittent fasting introducing paleo diet, I have to reduce weight. My wife is the biggest enemy in paleo diet.
I had chronic pain, psoriatic arthritis in many places including in my spine. My C reactive protein marker was off the charts high: 122. I went plant based and in three months it dropped to 12, still very high but nowhere near what it was. And a year later it dropped down to 3. I eat whole grains, not gluten as I am gluten sensitive, and I have cut down on refined gluten free flour now too. I make nearly everything from scratch, worked on improving my gut microbiome, I eat a lot of fermented foods and make my own soy yoghurt, I ferment 3 different types of whole grains and legumes to make flatbreads. Fixing the gut microbiome is the next stage that I have been working on and it is going well. Very pleased to have found your channel ❤.
Thank you for all you do for us! I’m on no grain, no dairy, no dark vegetables, no legume , no soy diet. I went tough processor elimination and know that my body reacts to all the above especially grains! It’s a very boring diet but I’m willing to stick with it if it means to be meds free. I have RA and diagnosed few months ago , it’s mostly in m6 hands. I have been on no grain diet for almost 3 weeks with a bit of cheating ;) I’m so happy to find your channel. You are a Rheumatologist who is validating me, the meds are not making me better but masking it and ton of side effects.

Just found your channel this morning. I commented on your vlog… about your personal story. Thank you so much for putting this info out here! Often, I hear comments when I tell my story of getting well, that it is all in my head… that I’m not a Dr. You are spreading the story of wellness that took me 10+ years to figure out! 👏👏👏
Thank you for sharing your healing journey :) I currently follow an almost vegan (one serving of fish high in omega-3 per week) WFBP diet. I do limit some lectins (I peel and deseed tomatoes, eggplant, and cucumbers and I soak and pressure cook legumes). I also stick to low FODMAP serving sizes of foods, with the exception of polyols, which I don’t seem to be sensitive to. I no longer have Sjogren's syndrome and I am managing both psoriasis and Crohn’s disease without medication. Two supplements that have been critical to my recovery include freshly grated Ceylon cinnamon (powerful antifungal) and berberine (antimicrobial and mild antifungal). I also make homemade soy milk yoghurt out of specific, research-backed probiotic strains.
Thank you!!! I have hashimoto and IBD and the only thing that keeps me in remission and well is a whole foods plant based diet. It is a struggle to find a Dr. who will understand me or support me so I am very grateful to have found you,
Thanks doc I'm from Zimbabwe I have been struggling with arthritis since my 30s now I'm 58 I'm happy I found your channel thank you for the good work I discovered you yesterday
Within a month, I had excruciating pain in every bone of my toes/feet/ankle and knees, literally being crippled. I also had pain and numbing of sensation in my fingers, wrists and elbows. They took X-rays of all joints as well as a blood test. Then I met the resident rheumatologist. He confirmed I had "good" arthritis, meaning osteo instead of rheumatoid arthritis in every joint. I asked what could I do to stop or lessen the pain that was keeping me awake at night and in agony every day. He said "nothing".... that it was 'normal wear and tear' of the joints. But, he could prescribe pain medications to help me. I spoke with my D.O. and she said I had signs of inflammation throughout my body. She suggested I try a plant based diet, giving up meats, processed foods, dairy, eggs, cheese, etc. I wondered what was left to eat??? Cardboard??? But, I tried it for 30 days. And ALL my symptoms and pain disappeared! She was right. And the Rheumatologist was a pill pushing fool who should go back to med school, FAST. (A year later, the cataract in my left eye, scheduled for replacement, cleared!!!) I hope what I learned might help some others reading this. (3+ years now!)
Thanks for the info. I have RA and my family and I eat a gluten free diet because my husband and daughter have celiac, IBD & IBC so t's necessary but we also eat a lot of vegetables and fruits. I still have severe chronic pain and flares of RA.
Im having a lot of joint pains because of Arthritis...and by looking at your video im learning the better foods to eat to help with my problem....thank you Dr. Yu
A very informative video, and because of early onset (for me) arthritis, I’ve made the switch after learning of the benefits here on this channel. So far, so good. Many thanks Dr Yu! 🙏
As a gf of a rancher the grass fed are probably getting more pesticides and they aren’t getting as healthy of a diet. The ranchers actually feed the cattle special mixes of silage which is the entire corn plant, parts of the corn plant and then just straight corn. It’s a mix based on what the cow needs. Plus grass of course.
God put man on a plantbased diet in the Garden of Eden and He's bringing us back to a plant based diet as fast as we will receive it. What a patient loving God!! He gave a perfect diet to His perfect creation. I'm headed toward this plant diet. Getting the processed food out. Only He can do it for me, through me as I turn myself and it over to Him. He wants His precious children healthy!! He won the victory for us over appetite. If we submit ourselves to Him, He will live His victory out in us.
I just discovered your channel , thanks its very informative and well balanced . I appreciate your information about not one fit for all ! Last weeks i’ve been indulging in foods I ve been avoiding for the last 10 years - wheat , red meats big load of fast carbs … Joints are now aching therefore i dived into u tube for inspiration . I’ll definitely return to less inflammatory food habits . Anyway it’s been interesting to watch on my own body the effects of foods i actually knew i should avoid …. Few years ago I sent blood test to Dr Vojdani lab in USA to find out about food sensitivities . I discovered that gums in foods can course us problems . Maybe you could make a talk on xantan guar gum -according to Dr Aristo Vojdani gums are contributing much to leaky gut and than to development of cross food sensitivities . I wish there was more warnings and knowledge about added gums in our foods . in Europe E412, E 413, E414 Xantan gum 415 and 416, 417 Thanks for your very useful channel ! I’ll share with my friends and patients , greetings from Sweden . Dr. Katarina
I am 60, have Osteo-arthritis in my lower spine and chronic inflammation. I am just at the beginning of my journey. Doctors and specialists are considering whether I have rheumatoid arthritis… meanwhile I met a friend at the gym who told me about her rheumatoid arthritis and pointed me in the direction of Susan Blum’s book called Healing Arthritis. I have tried to stick with her anti-inflammatory diet as much as possible and now have no doubt there is some inflammation/diet connection. I am so stiff today I can barely move, which I assume is to do with gluten in the flat bread I have eaten over the last three days…. Waiting to see a specialist and a naturopath as I would prefer to go down the diet route rather than medication. Blum’s diet excludes all the bad stuff you mentioned but also eliminates soy products and nightshades completely. It is very difficult to eat out at all without breaking the diet in some way but my husband and I travel often and eat out. Eating out is a necessity for us so I am trying to navigate this dietary situation. What I would like to see is more about how to eat without all these things in your diet. If you go online, there’s plenty of recipes for gluten-free and dairy-free but nothing on eliminating so many different types of food. It’s also difficult when cooking, for example, many soups and stews contain tomatoes of tomato paste. I find cooking without tomatoes and and most of the foods I love very challenging. Healthy recipes and videos on how to eat within theses dietary guidelines would be extremely helpful.
I tried paleo diet, all the pain gone, full energy. Without family support i cannot continue. I think tomoto, alcohol, legumes, wheat are the main culprits. I cooked my own recepies it is tough after coming from work.i.was not hungry in paleo diet and now overweight and still hungry after three to four meals in day and pain. I cannot continue. I am made my mind, I will eat only paleo diet, like to live without pain. even with same recepies everyday.
TY. Increasing the ratio of Omega 3's to Omega 6's by adding flaxseeds to smoothies along with hyper-nourishment works according to Goodbye Autoimmune Disease by a Dr Brooke Goldner. She reversed her lupus and helps others as well.
I began a Keto diet with intermittent fasting some months ago. Apart from losing more than 28 lbs, my fibromyalgia all but disappeared, my blood sugar went down and I also saw a huge beneficial difference with my osteoarthritis. It really works for me!!
I reduced weight with paleo diet, definitely it works, no gout flares, full of energy, no hungry,. In normal diet always feel hungry and become overweight and sluggish. now I got knee pain in right knee maybe osteoarthritis, after work I get swelling. I have started introducing paleo and intermittent fasting. Suggest me about avoiding swelling in knee. I feel definitely due to overweight and arthritis.

Can you send me the link to the study you mention in this film ref wholegrains and their positive impact on inflammation. I need to read the study! Thanks.

Hello Doc 😊 I'm happy to have found you, because there are people out there who proclaim you have to eat meat on AIP which sounds gross to a 20 plus years vegetarian like me😅. So I'm currently trying to cure Hashimotos which I think should be similar to other autoimmune diseases. Random question to your mention about crackers: what if they are made of whole grains? Thanks
I really like your video very very very much. It helped me a lot. It enlighten me and thank you so much for giving me a video like this. God bless you. I will follow your diet that you showed me too. This was a blessing to me.❤❤ please send more videos😂
Thanks for sharing. I was diagnosed with RA my rheumatologist wants me to go on methotrexate in a couple of days, but I haven’t been really don’t want to. I’ve been doing a plant-based diet with a little salmon for about 20 days. I definitely feel better. Hi doctor! My son has psoriasis and i think he has psoriatic arthritis already. He is 21. The signs are showing like the nails, the mild deformity of the fingers, the flakes on some parts of the skin. Is there anything that him and me can do aside from the foods and diet like a holistic approach to prevent further deformity and future organ damage. Im scared for sky rizi or other medications/chemicals that a doctor will prescribe. He's taking turmeric ginger and ACV supplements. what would you advice? Thanks.

I am having joint pain and tendon weakness .do i have any inflammation disease? but my ESR & CRP always shows normal range. My vitamin D is 22 and B12 is 85 who is the culprit here .
Doctor, whenever I try to eat a whole food plant based diet I get loose stools. I've tried many times. But it is too hard to be on toilet so much! What can I do?
When it comes to grains if you can get non GMO they might be ok, but the regular stuff you buy is what causes problems. I don't digest legumes well, so they are out for me,
I have a question about ham. Is it just the sandwich ham or regular ham in general that’s bad? Cause where I’m from we slaughter our own pigs. And beef… and chicken…

That's a great idear with the fermented grains for flatbread. Need to do some research how to do that. Or do you know a good source?
You're most welcome!
So what do you eat? What do you eat throughout the day, bfast, lunch, and dinner?
So what do you eat?
@@cantonio277 coconut milk in my coffee, fried zucchini with garlic or skip the breakfast. Salad with lettuce and all kind of veggies. All kind of fruits except banana, organic wild rice, lamb, beef, turkey, chicken and fish. No legumes for me except sometimes red lentil soup. Casava noodles in my chicken soup. Sometimes I make Casava bread which I don’t like ;) I’m going to try coconut flour to make bread or muffins and see how it goes. I take collagen powder every day. Oh, I can’t eat legumes;(
Just found your channel this morning. I commented on your vlog… about your personal story.
Thank you so much for putting this info out here! Often, I hear comments when I tell my story of getting well, that it is all in my head… that I’m not a Dr.
You are spreading the story of wellness that took me 10+ years to figure out!
👏👏👏
Thank you so much!!
Hi, thank you ! I will look into your ideas food group , would you please share your homemade soy milk yogurt. I can not have dairy 😢.
I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in July, I always feel cold in my hands and feet. I don't sleep easily. Thank you for the information.
You're most welcome!
But he is talking BS!! Eat carnivore!! Do your own research!!
Thank you!!! I have hashimoto and IBD and the only thing that keeps me in remission and well is a whole foods plant based diet. It is a struggle to find a Dr. who will understand me or support me so I am very grateful to have found you,
Wonderful!
Thanks doc I'm from Zimbabwe I have been struggling with arthritis since my 30s now I'm 58 I'm happy I found your channel thank you for the good work I discovered you yesterday
Glad to help
Sometimes the disease is beyond just food. Eating an anti inflammatory diet is just part of the solution.
Im having a lot of joint pains because of Arthritis...and by looking at your video im learning the better foods to eat to help with my problem....thank you Dr. Yu
You got this! and thank you for watching.
A very informative video, and because of early onset (for me) arthritis, I’ve made the switch after learning of the benefits here on this channel. So far, so good. Many thanks Dr Yu! 🙏
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching.
@@MYAutoimmuneMDhi can I eat rice please tell about rice intake we eat rice daily
Amen!!🙏🏽

Hey, thanks!
I wish there was more warnings and knowledge about added gums in our foods . in Europe E412, E 413, E414 Xantan gum 415 and 416, 417
Thanks for your very useful channel ! I’ll share with my friends and patients , greetings from Sweden . Dr. Katarina
Base in my experience i eat beans but i will soak it water 1st overnight and washed many times b4 i cook to out the lectins
Very well explained 👍
Thank you 🙂
I am 60, have Osteo-arthritis in my lower spine and chronic inflammation.
EXCELLENT EXCELLENT AND VERY HELPFUL INFORMATION , I LOVE AND ENJOY THIS EXPOSING INFORMATION, THANK YOU 🙏 THANK YOU SO VERY VERY MUCH 😊😊😊😊😊

TY. Increasing the ratio of Omega 3's to Omega 6's by adding flaxseeds to smoothies along with hyper-nourishment works according to Goodbye Autoimmune Disease by a Dr Brooke Goldner. She reversed her lupus and helps others as well.
I am doing goodbye autoimmune protocol for graves too and it works!

Thank you so much for your informative videos. However, the background music volume is a bit too loud.

If people have issues with some fruits/vegetables they might want to look into histamine intolerance. Spinach is on the avoid list for those of us who are histamine intolerant ❤❤❤.

Thank you . Spinach is pushed so hard as healthy without explaining it's definite downside. It makes a big difference.

Can you send me the link to the study you mention in this film ref wholegrains and their positive impact on inflammation. I need to read the study! Thanks.
I did a Google search. If you want to find studies, use NIH (National Institute of Health) and "studies". For example I searched for "NIH whole grains and inflammation studies" and got this link:

Hello Doc 😊 I'm happy to have found you, because there are people out there who proclaim you have to eat meat on AIP which sounds gross to a 20 plus years vegetarian like me😅.
So I'm currently trying to cure Hashimotos which I think should be similar to other autoimmune diseases.
Random question to your mention about crackers: what if they are made of whole grains? Thanks
I eat CBD gummy’s. It’s the best medicine I have found for pain and inflammation.
Turmeric and Boswellia are good anti-inflammatory supplements.

Thanks for sharing. I was diagnosed with RA my rheumatologist wants me to go on methotrexate in a couple of days, but I haven’t been really don’t want to. I’ve been doing a plant-based diet with a little salmon for about 20 days. I definitely feel better. I’m curious of what my inflammation levels are now I don’t have the pain with RA but I started to experience some rashes all over my body prior to going on a plant-based diet so I’m on prednisone so I’m not sure if it’s working. Can you give me some advice?

Thanks.
Dr. Yu wish I could go to your office/practice, where are you in this part of US? I am suffering with sjogrens symptoms that caused my RA and elevated liver enzymes. I’m so scared of what I’m having now.
