I started following Zoe in April 2023 as a person significantly overweight and diagnosed as type 2 diabetes for the past 6 or so years and frequent irritable bowel sufferer. At the end of the year having followed the guidance (more fibre, more ferments, low carbs and more healthy fats) I have lost 23 kilos and now have my A1C at 37 (normal). I would be telling fibs if I said it was hard to do - it wasn't. Thank you from me for (hopefully) the extra years you have given me and the good health I am enjoying.
I can’t seem to lose weight. I eat WFPB. LIKE YOU HBA1c is 37. I notice you say you lowered your carbs. Give me an idea of your days eating. Well done to you.
@@magicsupamoggie I've cut out white bread, rice, potatoes, cakes, biscuits - all the obvious refined carbs. I worked up to a 16:8 time restricted eating regime which is now everyday. When I break fast it is either a mix of nuts, seeds and berries with kefir and yoghurt (eat until full!) or eggs and fresh tomatoes with one slice of homemade wholemeal bread. Evening meals are usually lots of leafy salads with either chicken or fish but sometimes substitute the salads for fibrous veg like broccoli, cauliflower and green beans. No snacks after main meal. You have to find what works for you and your lifestyle.
If everyone took this advice, the world would be a drastically improved place. My breakfast/lunch today was olive oil-sautéed kale and other greens and edible flowers from the garden, garlic, broccoli, and mushrooms served on a baked sweet potato with avocado, pepitas and maple infused balsamic vinegar served with some yogurt, raspberries, chia seeds, hemp hearts, and walnuts. That’s 14 plants in one meal. Despite being diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago, I’m still banking on the fact that my health would be worse if I didn’t eat this way.
Top tip, make it thd night before. I just chop half an apple, frozen berries mixed with a pinch of mixed seeds a closed handful of mixed nuts, add dried cinnamon and add kefir and yogurt scoop. So 7 plants plus fermented. In a pot good to grab and go for the morning. @fruz1378
Probiotics are live bacteria that, when consumed, provide health benefits by introducing beneficial microbes to the gut. While probiotics are widely available in supplements and fermented foods, Professor Spector stresses that not all probiotics are equally effective, and their impact can vary from person to person. Natural sources, such as yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, and kimchi, are generally preferred because they contain a broad spectrum of beneficial bacteria. Supplements, on the other hand, may not survive the journey through the digestive system or may not be compatible with every individual’s microbiome. Professor Spector advises taking probiotics during or after antibiotic treatments or during times of digestive distress, as they can help restore balance in the gut.
I've improved my diet considerably & have now lost nearly 16ks in weight since August 2023 when I started following Zoe. Still a way to go but am seeing great results already.
A big thank you Tim Spector!! I hope lots of people watch this and will benefit from your advice as I have. I have read your three books on the subject and my health is so much improved. I have lost weight, still more to go but it’s happening gradually. Cholesterol is now 4.1 and I am off statins. Blood pressure is now consistently normal and I gradually came off all 3 BP meds that I was on. In fact I don’t take any prescription medicines now. I am 75. Follow Tim with confidence!!
recently diagnosed pre-diabetes, followed your recommendations for a few weeks and Wow have i noticed a difference in my well being, wished I had known 30 years ago, I am 74 so not too late to start, many thanks
So long has you have a sufficient brain intact to follow good advice ....... Most people at the age of 74 have their ways set their extremely resistant to change ..... industrial education system has a tendency to kill brain cells
That's encouraging, I'm 75 and have just been diagnosed pre-diabetic. But I already eat quite healthily and am really thin and do a lot of exercise, so it's difficult to cut out all carbs! Hummus and peanut butter look like my salvation lol
There's guy that started eating plants around your age he is now over 100 years old and has entered marathons and stuff so mate you're just a baby at your age haha get at it mate🫡
I've changed my way of eating due to Tim and I now understand a lot more about my own body and the needs of my gut! I'm very disappointed about the price asked by Tim and the zoe team for membership of the zoe health plan. I have been a part of the zoe experiment since lockdown .
I wish hospitals given this important information to parents before they discharge them with kids after very complicated and harsh medical treatments affecting gut health.
I was at a hospital cafe yesterday waiting for my husband to be discharged from surgery. It was astonishing how much crap the cafe had. Fried and fatty foods. There was a station for healthier food and I managed to find a broccoli salad to purchase. Many of the hospital health care workers were overweight and obese. Sad! .
@@rebeccapettiford5389 Agreed. Some of that 'overweight' is due to terrible hours and stress that re4sults in eating loads of crap just to stay awake and upright! Vicious circle!
Sadly hospitals/doctors don't often acknowledge the role food plays in health. And it's reflected in selections at the hospital cafes. It's most unfortunate that the invalid are given similar meals. My child's first meal after surgery was a bagel and jello - at the doctor's advice! It took lots of convincing to get on the same page with nutrition, but eventually we did.
Thank you for providing such great information to us all. I have started making some changes as a result of your videos. I have started making a really dense sprouted wheat bread with flax, chia, sprouted sunflower and sprouted pumpkin seeds. We really enjoy it. We have also started eating more nuts in our morning yogurt such as walnuts and cashews. I have been able to find a local whole milk yogurt in a large glass jar with no sugar added that is really good. My biggest concern now is how to rid our foods of plastics since they have many serious health consequences. Nuts, seeds, grains and dried fruits all come in plastic. I put them in glass when I get home but I am still concerned about contamination of plastics. I wish they would just place them in a sealed waxed paper bag rather than using plastic.
Would you mind sharing your bread recipe? I just made yogurt using my instant pot. I used grass-fed, organic milk (half gallon) from a glass jar. It was so easy to make and costs half what I pay in the store for yogurt.
I just make a simple no knead sprouted wheat seeded bread. In a large bowl add 16 oz of cool water, 1 1/2 tsp. Salt, 1/2 tsp instant yeast, I Tbsp. Sesame seeds, 1 Tbsp. Flax seeds or ground flax, 1 Tbsp. Sprouted sunflower seeds, I Tbsp. Sprouted pumpkin seeds, add 1 Tbsp. Extra virgin olive oil and mix it together. Then, add 1 1/2 cups white flour, 2 cups sprouted wheat flour, 1/2 cup of oats. Stir it together and cover with plastic wrap. Let it proof over night for about 12 hours. The next day, stir up the dough. I place the dough on parchment paper in a Dutch oven (enamel pot with a lid) . Let it proof for another 60 minutes. Bake in the oven at 400 degrees for 40 min. With the lid on. Then remove the lid and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes uncovered. 😊
I stumbled on Zoe after having some neurological symptoms and changing my diet had a huge positive impact. Additionally, I lost 10kg combined with breastfeeding. Your work is absolutely transforming people's lives ❤
I've been eating for my microbiome since reading Justin and Erica Sonnenburg's the Good Gut in 2015. My friends and family are always confused when I try to talk to them about what I've learned. Thank you Tim for this video that explains everything beautifully. Excellent job.
Mega tips. Once I got used to all different types of healthy snacks ... the ultraprocessed ones don't look as applealing anymore. The body knows what's best for it.
Great video!! One of my NY resolutions was to cut down on my UPF intake. To-date, I have stopped eatings crisps, and cheddary snacks and am now making my own pizza from scratch! As a vegetarian, I'm in the daily habit of preparing a small salad before my main meal and eat mixed nuts daily. I've cut down on biscuits - instead buying plain rice cakes and adding melted dark chocolate to them with various toppings such as sunflower seeds or almond flakes. I've recently started to eat natural yoghurt for breakfast with berries and seeds - instead of brand name muesli. So, great to see this type of video and although I've started well, the video goes to show that I have a long way still to go on this journey...
Thank you, youve just given me the idea to chop a variety of nuts up using my blender and use those in my yoghurt each morning instead of the granola i usually use. I already put strawberries in and sunflower/pumpkin seeds
I eat plants, plus a little cheese. I could use a little more variety and a little more raw veg. I turn 68 in 6 months, take zero medications, and my digestion is better than it was 50 years ago (when I was a typical burger eating teen).
Thanks so much for this latest video. I eat 30 plus plants a week now, my tummy is settled, no sugar cravings and perfectly satisfied with three brilliant meals a day. Thanks Tim, Sarah, Jonathan and the team for everything you do. Love and light. Julia x
I cannot love this video enough. It’s the best video i have ever seen in this subject while keeping it simple and straight forward as well. Thanks for this!
The late and hugely missed Dr Moseley started me on the path to fighting my rubbish diet and gut health. Now I have found this Team and the Zoe 'method'. It's a Godsend really and I'm STARTING TODAY (22/09/2024)
I would endorse this approach as a recently retired GP and on a personal level. I have improved my weight by a stone and managed to avoid starting on Blood Pressure medication. (I don’t appreciate the background music- distracting and overpowering. )
Love these videos. Love the music, Tim's narration with the music has been edited perfectly. I changed from UPF to whole foods and fermented. Eat roughly every 19 hours with a noshing window of four hours. Seen mood improvements , feel fuller. Well happy. Easy to do 😊👍👍
Keep your head up people who are struggling stay positive pray and god will help you find the people who can help you figure your stomach issues out !! I believe !!
I'm another convert. Been following this advice for 3 weeks and already feel heaps better. I'm really enjoying the food, I'm making Kefir, Krauts and Rye sourdough bread. I feel better in myself, I have more energy, better sleep, am losing belly fat and pooping Bristol No 4's. A trip to the bog is now pure joy. You can use that in your advertising. Thankyou Professor Tim Spector.
@@karendavis8083 Look at this video on the Clean Food Living channel. ua-cam.com/video/_hRE9KAqkkw/v-deo.html There are links to sourdough guides you can download. Their information on making fermented foods is very good.
A lot of sensible advice. I would however be careful with fermented foods as it is not for everyone. Whenever I’ve taken kefir, kombucha or similar, I’ve had severe stomach cramps; even when taking just a little. Also it doesn’t take into consideration those of us who don’t have the health to prepare and make all these dishes/preparations. Not to even mention the expense. Before you say anything, have you seen the price of purple carrots?
I have always known we have a gut microbiome but never really gave it much thought until I watched 'Hack your health the secrets of your gut' Wow, it was so interesting and it turns out my diet feeds my microbiome well but there's always room for improvement, right! This vid popped up on my You tube, so I had watch it. Thank you, You have reinforced that I am doing something right and gave me a clear understanding of exactly what plants are, I thought 30 I would not be able to achieve but now I know what's included in the 30! Thank You
The biggest barrier to eating a wide variety of plants in the UK is, I believe, the cost. If you compare a box of cereal or a loaf of bread which will provide a full week of breakfast food, compared to buying a wide range of fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, I’m not sure it’s achievable for most people 😢
Thank you for this advice, it is good to know that the info is still there for people to follow and its good to keep putting it out there to reinforce the message. I am bit disappointed that there is nothing new here, for anyone interested in eating healthy food they will already have this knowledge for some years now. Nothing was said about the possible chemicals that may be on these veg and fruit, is it worth trying to buy organic? Also its a shame that the Zoe program is quite so expensive.
My mother is 56 years old, she is overweight, eating is very difficult, I always want to find a way to help her, thank you doctor for sharing useful information
This video is packed with practical tips for improving gut health! Professor Tim Spectre's advice on eating a diverse range of plants, including herbs and spices, is eye-opening. It's fascinating to learn how polyphenols in colorful vegetables like purple carrots and kale can act as rocket fuel for our gut microbes. Making small changes like adding mixed nuts and seeds to your diet can make a big difference. Great insights for anyone looking to boost their overall health!
I’m really enjoying learning from Zoe, I have the weekly newsletter and watch utube and podcasts, it’s extremely informative. Not sure yet wether I will join as I’m 71 but may do, with the state of our NHS it’s a bit of a lifeline really, as we all need to watch our own health as relying on our health service is going to be increasingly difficult going forward. Thank you Zoe you are amazing 🎉😊❤
Not quite 70 but I've just started the testing phase of the membership (really looking forward to getting my results) and already I've learned so much about my own gut and blood sugar reactions. Can't say I'm too impressed with the app which is clunky but that's a minor inconvenience for the huge benefits.
Great informative video easy to understand. I've been a follower of Prof Tim for years and have all his books which I refer to constantly. This video is ideal for those who are unable to process the written word. Highly recommended and many thanks as always
Thanks for the practical advice! I saw many of your videos but got increasingly confused as I found it challenging to understand which food is rich in fibres, microbes, and ferments, creating a healthy gut, and which is ultra-processed. Also, I would never have guessed that coffee, dark chocolate and popcorn are healthy. I always eat a lot of berries and nuts and go for whole grains; it's good to know this is a healthy habit. I knew unpeeled potatoes are more nutritious (my great-grandfather told us that), but I didn't know you can eat kiwis with their skin. I will definitely try that!
Some great points . Colourful living food that is lightly cooked or without cooking too. Chewing well & taking the time to sit being present. All part of your digestion.
I am a great fan of Zoe's recommendations. You helped me improve my energy and mood. Thank you ! I discovered that a diverse plant diet rises both my LDL and HDL. Jogging 2km everyday lowers LDL a lot. I've just found out I have Lp(a) 60. Should everybody eat a lot of olive oil ? Could you please make an episode with a lipidologist like dr Thomas Dayspring.
Thankyou Tim I have been on my health journey for a few years now.i loved how you exsplain in a easy way I make my own nut milk, eat whole foods and plant based.😊
I'm currently on my Zoe adventure. I was so disappointed to find out my microbiome is poor as i'm vegan. Anyway, following their advice now and hoping for the best. ❤
Over the last few weeks I have been researching and watching various podcasts relating to diet, what to eat and what to avoid. I've learned much from watching Tom , Jonathan and Sarah, as well as other 'well known' experts on UA-cam. However, I remain confused about all the contradictions I keep running into. My wife had what was thought to be gout for quite a long period, so my research was specifically relating to purines in food, which led to us cutting out many of the foods we enjoyed, and we modified our diet accordingly, cutting out red meat and many vegetables. During my research I stumbled onto 'leaky gut syndrome' and the effect Lectins have on the digestive system. Looking at the foods where lectins occur, I am confronted by so many contradictions. The advice is that including lots of fibre in your diet is fundamental to good dietary discipline, however the lectins present in the husks of wholegrain seeds tends to contradict what is said. As advised, we have included more probiotics in our diet, less meat protein, but we feel restricted because we are avoiding high purine foods. So my comment relates specifically to the reactions between prebiotics/ probiotics/ purines/ lectins that are present in the food choices we can make for a better standard of healthy living. Can anyone solve my state of confusion? Clem
In the US, we are a long ways away from being a country with a healthy lifestyle. For starters, we need to start cooking, period. Not only do we not cook and eat healthy foods, we don’t cook at all.
I’ve read that Lactobacillus gasseri, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, and Bifidobacterium lactis are probiotics associated with fat loss. Can you make a video exploring which probiotics can potentially help with fat loss. Maybe someone is an expert.
I would like to know what Tim's biological age is after following Zoe. He is 66, to me those deep worry lines on his forehead suggest much older - but of course he has worked in the medical profession for many years and this surely takes an a toll on your health, well-being etc. He is doing a great job bringing the need for diversity in diet etc to the broader public - great work!!
With respect. I would like to know why the processed items to your right are on your counter? You're absolutely correct regarding gut health, but not everyone can tolerate certain foods, be it organic or non organic . A bonus would be simple, cost-effective health foods. Thank you for the information, though. 😊
I was told to follow a low fiber diet , after a hospital visit for inflammation of my intestines. Watching this you indicated high fiber. Not sure what to do, seem when I eat fiber I feel bloated and gassy. I want relief so bad.
What an excellent video. Rather than someone just "preaching" at us Tim actually shows examples of what to eat and how easy it is to include 30 plants in our diet. We don't think of things like coffee and spices etc. I have been eating a whole food plant based diet for some time now and lost two and a half stone. You can eat unlimited amount of plants so long as you cook from scratch and still lose weight
I wish it was as simple for me and others in similar situations to eat many of those things. Probably too much information to share but I wish there was more advice out there for people in my situation who would love to be able to eat lots of nuts, seeds and fibrous foods and leave the skin on vegetables etc but due to having a diseased colon removed over 20 years ago eating those foods could see me ending up in hospital again with a blockage. Blending foods to a smoothie consistency or eating lots of peanut butter instead of whole nuts doesn’t help as that causes other issues which I won’t go into here but it wouldn’t be good! 🙈 im also a Celiac so that complicates things even more. I’m doing my best with the healthier foods that I can eat such as the Kefir but the more I learn about the healthier way to eat such as in this video ,the more frustrating it is to not be able to follow the advice. I wish this healthy eating advice such was around when I was struggling with Ulcerative colitis years ago, maybe I wouldn’t be in the situation that I am now .
I’m doing the ZOE programme and it’s helped me be healthier although I’ve gained weight rather than lost it. My main point though is about variety … I find most weeks I have to choose between variety and a high score as many foods cause my score to drop eg kiwi fruit, sweet potato, banana, beetroot, kombucha, kimchi, blueberries - all good foods. Often a meal is very good for my gut health but I get a low score (eg 35 for a bowl of soup and some beetroot and water with limes in)
Here is a suggestion (which I do) take you nuts and seeds "collection", run it through a food processor until it becomes buttery and spread it over a toast or a waffle every morning. Every couple of months I go through that process of turning nuts into butter, store it in jars and place them in the refrigerator. I also do the same with non-sulfur dry fruits.
I take zaatar, nutritional yeast, reishi powder, lions mane powder, maitake powder, add a little water and turn it into a spread. You can use eevo if you want, and/some avocado. I can't because my metabolism doesn't handle fats well and I pack on the lbs way too fast if I do that.
@@ziv2liv forgive my short/terse response. not intended to be rude! if you don’t blend then, to put it simply, your poop will have a much higher caloric content than if you do blend. this is because, nuts being what they are, they will pass through you undigested to a greater extent. blending is like pre-chewing. that’s the first point. secondly, and i can’t find it now, i have seen videos in which it has been explained that blended nuts, like powdered “instant” oats, hit your system much faster and that this provokes a much stronger insulin response. I wish i could find this video for you now. As a general rule it is better just to chew. good health!
@@aafgahfah Sorry, but I could not find any scientific support to your claim. I'm not comparing commercially-made nuts butter with raw. I am talking about buttering your own raw nuts and in that sense, it is actually easier on your digestive system.
I have been advised to eat a low fibre diet due to bowel problems. It is quite difficult to get the gut balance right when the avoid list has many fruits and vegetables on it. Whole grains, nuts and seeds are also on the avoid list. Looks like I'll just have to consume a lot more yogurt.
I have been advised by the hospital the same. If I ate all those fruit and veg I would be forever in the bathroom.. I also have severe acid reflux due to Scleroderma. I find I cannot eat spices, garlic and onions. What do I do Zoe?
I have IBS and following this procedure Would cause me heaps of problems. I have followed the Monash diet and still had problems. So have been carnivore for about 6 months now and find if I don’t stray I am ok. Thanks for this info though as I can use it for my husband
Interesting video! Keep doing what you do. May the good Lord bless you abundantly. We must continue to inform everyone who cares to watch our videos or listen to us on how important it is to eat and live healthy because everything in the world now is against us staying healthy.
It's so difficult in the States to not eat ultra processed. Can you expand on the "limits" of ultra processed foods in a day or week? I have family members that insist on buying this junk and my will power is not very strong. Excellent summary of how to move toward a healthy gut and good life.
Well done Tim, your presentation was spot on! I am implementing all of the advice you’ve given us today. The hardest snack for me to break is a small bowl of salted crisps whilst cooking dinner. I’ve switched out crisps for salted peanuts. What are your thoughts on salted peanuts?
It’s been a while since dabbling with kombucha. I know not all kombucha is made equal. Are there any brands that are recommended for low sugar and non-gmo ingredients? Nice concise video. Extremely useful 👍🏻
Great video Doctor :) I am from Brazil, and since I was little, when I would eat papaya, my grandmother advised me to eat the seeds too, as they were where most of the vitamins were found... I am 36 yearls old and I still eat the seeds but i am still not sure if I should continue or not :)
Hey Zoe Team, I have a couple of questions that I would love to hear one of the docs talk about at some point. 1. How can people with high histamine levels (histamine sensitivity) best incorporate fermented foods into their diets to support their gut. Can it be done? Or best to stay away. 2. I have been told by other health care practitioners that people should avoid things like chocolate and popcorn because it can be bad for the ileocecal valve, leading to a host of other issues in the body. I have only found mixed information about this, but would love to hear a comment about it. (Clearly the Professor is in favor, so...) Thanks for all the excellent content. I am learning so much.
Great information, clearly and simply explained. Can you advise on a lactose free option or maybe any alternatives. Any suggestions would be much appreciated .👍
I roast my sunflower seeds and marinade them with tamari soy sauce, sometimes I do that with pumpkin seeds as well, perhaps I should do both and mix them together. Once you know how to do it I automatically look for them to sprinkle on rice or pasta, it is such a good taste.
My son loves his breakfast i make him. I take Greek yogurt with fresh coconut, I add blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, and raspberries, I grind up 2 cups of craisins with 2 cups of roasted green pumpkin seeds and 6 tbsps of flaxmeal ,and spinkle that over the frozen or fresh fruit. If I have leftover date square I make with coconut oil and large oatmeal flakes ,I crumble some over top .I keep the cranberries ,Bob's organic flaxmeal, pumpkin seed mixture in the fridge, and he gets 5 tbsps every am on top .
Useful video, BUT we need to consider a) the cost eg avocado) and b) the environmental effects of our food shopping - raspberries, blueberries in England in winter 😳- what about the ”food miles “ ? . Should we not be buying local and seasonal produce ?
I suffered from many serious digestion issues all my life. They all vanished completely when I stopped eating plants six and a half years ago. Part of that is that it stopped the intake of plant toxins and irritants that damage the intestinal lining, but for the most part it's because, eating only animal products, my fiber consumption dropped to zero. That's ideal for digestion, as demonstrated by a 2012 experiment. People with digestion issues were split into four groups, each of them getting different amounts of fiber (high, moderate, low, none). People on high fiber had the most problems. People on moderate fiber had somewhat less. People on low fiber had even less. The group on zero fiber had zero digestion issues. Like... zero zero, it made the graph look like it was missing data. But it's just that no one who stopped eating fiber had any digestion issues at all, so there was nothing to show on the graph. And getting rid of my digestion issues wasn't anywhere near the biggest health improvement I experienced. I finally stopped being hungry all the time. My mind cleared. My energy improved. My sleep drastically improved. My stress, anxiety and depression all disappeared. I lost 20kg stuffing my face with as much fat as I wanted. And my bloodwork is better than ever.
It sounds like you are on the carnivore diet. I'm so torn between plant based and carnivore! I don't need to lose weight, but I do want to improve my brain.
@@Maam-xl4gu I am. I don't really have a choice, it's the only way I can be healthy. I think everyone should at least try a 30-day elimination diet. Fresh fatty beef only. Salt to taste. Drink only water (but not too close to mealtime or it'll interfere with digestion). The first few days are awful (carbs withdrawal), the next couple weeks is a bit unpleasant (keto flu), but at 30 days you'll know what it's like to be healthy. From there you can try whatever else and see how it affects you.
Thank you for your thoughts. I think that's what I'm going to do! I was on the keto diet in college. I also got off sugar years after my keto experience..Horrible! Talk about withdrawal! But it was well worth it. I wish you all the best! @@BigSlimyBlob
Make your own Greek-style yoghurt. Take a supermarket plain yoghurt, sweetened is ok. Mix one pot with five pots of full-fat milk. Mix in the juice of half a lime/lemon. Leave in a warm place around 25 degC for 24 hours. Strain the whey using a muslin cloth. Refrigerate. Sugar from the original yoghurt is eaten by the bacteria in the yoghurt.
Ok well said Doc. I would like to know if cook vegetables vs raw vegetables would make a difference in the diversity of microbes? I've heard of lectins from others sources do they really exist in more potent forms across different plant species? What is more important eating the spectrum or the by product of the microbes which helps tighten the junction of our villas? Oh so much too learn.
If everyone took this advice, the world would be a drastically improved place.

Yes it’s not exactly cheap. I can’t justify that expense.
Sad! .
@@rebeccapettiford5389reall?? 😮
Sprouted pumpkin seeds,
add 1 Tbsp.
I turn 68 in 6 months, take zero medications, and my digestion is better than it was 50 years ago (when I was a typical burger eating teen).
that's wonderful to hear Stephen! Glad you're feeling great 💛
Thanks so much for this latest video.
It's always a pleasure to listen to you. Your speech is clear and to the the point. Thanks!! (from Argentina)
The late and hugely missed Dr Moseley started me on the path to fighting my rubbish diet and gut health. Now I have found this Team and the Zoe 'method'. It's a Godsend really and I'm STARTING TODAY (22/09/2024)
I'm doing Prof Spector's course on BBC Maestro and it's a life changer for me.
Great presentation! It was straightforward, easy to understand and filled with practical add ons and swaps for healthier eating. Thank you!
Grateful for your work, and this concise summary for my time-poor friends who will not listen to a long podcast...
Thanks for sharing such a valuable lesson with us all for free!
I am so thankful for people like you. ❤
This is excellent. I've been 'doing Zoe' for a while, and the benefits are MASSIVE.
Can you share your rye sourdough bread recipe please??
Thank You
I make a seed mix with turmeric and black pepper and Mediterranean herbs which I sprinkle on things instead of cheese.
The biggest barrier to eating a wide variety of plants in the UK is, I believe, the cost. If you compare a box of cereal or a loaf of bread which will provide a full week of breakfast food, compared to buying a wide range of fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds, I’m not sure it’s achievable for most people 😢
This is true. There's absolutely no way I could afford this diet as a single mother. It seems health is for the privileged really.
But can you afford to be sick?
I’m 71 and did it! I feel active and healthy. Do it now! You might live into your 90s and that’s 20 years!
Not quite 70 but I've just started the testing phase of the membership (really looking forward to getting my results) and already I've learned so much about my own gut and blood sugar reactions. Can't say I'm too impressed with the app which is clunky but that's a minor inconvenience for the huge benefits.
Do it, you won’t regret it. A good investment!
Great informative video easy to understand. I've been a follower of Prof Tim for years and have all his books which I refer to constantly. This video is ideal for those who are unable to process the written word. Highly recommended and many thanks as always
Excellent content; great format; solid, helpful ideas; perfect length.
Zoe has worked amazingly well and more importantly easily for me. Dropped 6kg and feel better and just as importantly never hungry.
Thank you Professor!. Excellent explanation. ❤
Thank you! I have added so many plants and love the tips about peas, artichokes, popcorn etc.
Thanks for awakening the world on the practiced rampage on food platters in modern times.
Thankyou Tim I have been on my health journey for a few years now.i loved how you exsplain in a easy way I make my own nut milk, eat whole foods and plant based.😊
Thanks for making the vidio ive been in denial to eat real food and youve just got me going with your way of explaining what real food is
Thank you for sharing such incredible knowledge, it’s greatly appreciated ❤
I'm currently on my Zoe adventure. I was so disappointed to find out my microbiome is poor as i'm vegan. Anyway, following their advice now and hoping for the best. ❤
I would love to hear an interview with Dr. Spector on his ideas regarding the CARNIVORE DIET!!!
Clem
Great video - I joined Zoe in October and it is the best thing I have ever done for my health
Nicely presented Tim great examples with a touch of science not overwhelming Good job !!!!!
In the US, we are a long ways away from being a country with a healthy lifestyle. For starters, we need to start cooking, period. Not only do we not cook and eat healthy foods, we don’t cook at all.
I can't concentrate on what u are saying kind sir. The music is just not working for me. And I like the advice u are giving. Thank you.
This approach has transformed my health in a good way. Love the helpful information thanks.
He is doing a great job bringing the need for diversity in diet etc to the broader public - great work!!
and make sleep your #1 priority. I have suffered a lot due to sleep and anxiety issues.
Brilliant life saving science. Science is the way to save lives above all other knowledge systems.
Thanks Tim! I love following your work!
Often a meal is very good for my gut health but I get a low score (eg 35 for a bowl of soup and some beetroot and water with limes in)
This episode was fantastic. Would like to see more under 15 minute practical, UA-cam.
Here is a suggestion (which I do) take you nuts and seeds "collection", run it through a food processor until it becomes buttery and spread it over a toast or a waffle every morning. Every couple of months I go through that process of turning nuts into butter, store it in jars and place them in the refrigerator. I also do the same with non-sulfur dry fruits.
no. just eat them. don’t pre-process them.
totally unnecessary
@@aafgahfah Not saying it's "necessary", it's just a method of eating. The nutritional value is the same.
@@ziv2liv forgive my short/terse response. not intended to be rude! if you don’t blend then, to put it simply,
your poop will have a much higher caloric content than if you do blend. this is because, nuts being what they are, they will pass through you undigested to a greater extent. blending is like pre-chewing. that’s the first point.
secondly, and i can’t find it now, i have seen videos in which it has been explained that blended nuts, like powdered “instant” oats, hit your system much faster and that this provokes a much stronger insulin response.
That is excellent advice. I wish someone had told it to me 25 years earlier than I found out.
Always tell folks to eat a rainbow of colors 🤩
I've just signed up for ZOE - I'm excited to take delivery of my package soon!
Broccoli. Oatmeal with flaxseed grain, olive oil and garlic. Yummy!
Great info. I’m on keto but with a heavy leaning on fibre. Not too much meat. I will increase diversity though, and I do love fermented foods!!! ❤
It's so difficult in the States to not eat ultra processed. Can you expand on the "limits" of ultra processed foods in a day or week? I have family members that insist on buying this junk and my will power is not very strong. Excellent summary of how to move toward a healthy gut and good life.
The Zoe plan has you aim for 15% or less a week of your food and drink intake UPF.
Well done Tim, your presentation was spot on! I am implementing all of the advice you’ve given us today. The hardest snack for me to break is a small bowl of salted crisps whilst cooking dinner. I’ve switched out crisps for salted peanuts. What are your thoughts on salted peanuts?
Thank you for this informative , clear and practical tips to improve our gut microbiome and plant diversity 🙌
It’s been a while since dabbling with kombucha. I know not all kombucha is made equal. Are there any brands that are recommended for low sugar and non-gmo ingredients?
Nice concise video. Extremely useful 👍🏻
kombucha is super easy to make your own ,have made my own for years you control the sugar and pick the fruit
Great video Doctor :) I am from Brazil, and since I was little, when I would eat papaya, my grandmother advised me to eat the seeds too, as they were where most of the vitamins were found... I am 36 yearls old and I still eat the seeds but i am still not sure if I should continue or not :)
Wow Thanks ZOE totally eye opening, food for thought ... definitely going to try this. 👍
(Clearly the Professor is in favor, so...)
Thanks for all the excellent content. I am learning so much.
ALL chocolate, cacao and cocoa contains heavy metals, and contains the highest levels of lead compared to other foods.
The biggest thing is stop stressing about it stress is the main cause of histamine intolerance
Gut health = mental health
yes but vegetables are toxic and fiber causes bloating and is indigestible
Super video- can you educate NHS GPs and some gastroenterologists please?
Very good thank you. I have been slowly moving in the right direction. Take care.
Eating fermented rice helped my gut health immensely. It's a prebiotic and a probiotic.
Useful video, BUT we need to consider a) the cost eg avocado) and b) the environmental effects of our food shopping - raspberries, blueberries in England in winter 😳- what about the ”food miles “ ? . Should we not be buying local and seasonal produce ?
Ideally yes but food miles is a very small percentage of carbon.
The UK is responsible for 1%of the world's carbon emissions so I think we're entitled to a few air miles 👍
Thanks for sharing this Professor Tim! It was interesting and informative 🥬🍎🥦
Unfortunately it’s not a one size fits all - a lot of what is suggested is high in FODMAP and would cause the opposite effect to me
Listen to the FodMap episode.
Very informative and making it easy! Thank you for sharing
Please, bring ZOE to Denmark 💚
Thanks! This is so informative and helpful ❤
This is very useful information. I am happy that I found this channel after I heard about Doctor Tim Spector in a Romanian channel about health.
Great public health info here guys 🎉 Clear and interesting presentation !
What’s the verdict on meat, eggs and fish? Would a lot of cheese be classed as UPF? Also packet rice?
Crispy kale is so much nicer and more satisfying than crisps, sprinkled with engevita yum
Thank you from sweden.
Will try to do as you tell us.
