One tips that's helped me tremendously is "It's a push movement, you're pushing with your leg's, not pulling with your back and hips.

Alan Thrall gave me a great tip to prevent the hips shooting up (on his video channel mind you) and that is to pre-load the hamstrings before you push off with your feet. You grip the bar, set your hips and then push with your feet a bit until you feel your hamstrings engage with the weight before you push with your feet. This cue ensures that you don't shoot your hips up, especially on the big lifts. Good luck everyone!

Do your hips shoot up when you deadlift? Well let's fix this shit. Using Eli from ZNA Productions as a real life example, I walk you through the reasons and how to actually fix this problem. And he hits a PR!
Shout out to Eli for doing this video. Make sure to check out the video I did with him, smashing zombie skulls with real weapons:

+OmarIsuf I wouldn't mind a little more detail on the hip activation exercises as well as warming up hips before deadlift/squat. I've finally figured that my weak-point is hip mobility, trying new stretches doesn't seem to be helping consistently.

It was awesome getting to meet one of my favorite fitness UA-camrs. It's a funny thing meeting all the people you watch on the daily, and having to pretend you're chill about it cause you're a UA-camr too lol. Couldn't have had a better time out there if I tried. Hello from Denmark :)
So I want to know if my checklist is good, or missing anything. Could you please share your thoughts?
Thank you very much and great video mate.
    1. Scalpula ahead of the bar
    2. The bar is right placed right above the middle of your foot
    3. Chest pushed outward, ensuring a straight line through your spine.
    4. Knees are bent, but not too low so you are squatting
    5. Elbows are locked
    Right before the heavy lift:
    6. Activation of Glutes (your buttcheeks are closed tightly together)
    7. Activation of Lats (You push your arms into your armpits)
    8. Take a deep breath and hold it!
    9. Push your heels through the ground
    10. Pull your back up while pushing hips forward.

Very nice video. Just want to say a thing about the scapula over mid-foot cue around 5:20 . When I fist saw the thumbnail for this video I thought that "what!? is he going to say that the glenohumeral joint is supposed to be over the bar?" Of-course this is not what you are saying. But for any beginner it may be worth to stress this issue. The scapula is a "big" plate streatching down over your upper back. In the dead-lift, your shoulder will be slightly in front of the plane described by 1) your mid foot 2) the bar and 3) your scapula. This will mean that your arms are not vertical but "stretched backward" at the beginning of the lift; which is an and effect of engaging the lats.

Pretty solid deadlift for a new lifter. I have been at it for about a year (deadlifting for 6 months or so) and have it up to about 350 at 150 lbs body weight. I'm pretty happy with it but would like to get to 400. I have kind of plateaued unfortunately but I'm pretty sure it has a lot to do with having been in a cut for the last year. I lost about 60-70 lbs and am currently sitting at about 10-13% bf. I wanted to get sub 10% but I think now I am going to start increasing my calories up and allow myself to get closer to 15% to facilitate muscle growth and strength. I really want to get my squat and deadlift to a respectable spot.

I started having lower back pain. Couldn't even squat without setting off lower back pain. Ended up leaving the gym for over a year. I recently got back into lifting again, and sure as shit I went to go lift 405 for my heavy work. It's been a week now and I've had to completely skip every compound movement in the gym and do only isolation exercises. I can't even jog a couple hundred meters without my lower back ceasing up. My low back is fucked.

I recorded my deadlift (I do sumo now, I feel better at them, but it's true for regular too) but my scapula are in front of the bar, like Eli's. I tried to like sit back more but I was falling backwards, I don't know how to get my dang shoulders back lol.

@omarisuf Hey OMZ! Whats up? Im 6'3 and 81 kg's been working out for 6 months now before I started I was only at 64 kgs. Ive been working on my mobility a lot and my squats are better then ever BUT my DL form is shit. I got long legs and a short upperbody with superlong arms. Any tip? Should I go sumo or conventional? I really need to get the form for DL since its the best exercise ever.
    Please hit me up!

Question: Is it possible that weak abs could also cause the hips to rise early?
I'm 260 lbs. with a 500 deadlift (No Belt) and my form is on point until I get to heavier weight or start to fatigue. That's when I notice that my hips come up much quicker. However, when I can't get the weight up, it is not the lower back, but my abs that felt like they were the point of failure and weren't strong enough (Legs still felt explosive). The first time I attempted 500, I was above the knees and dropped the bar because it felt like I was about to get a hernia.
I'm going to focus on tightening the lats more (maybe that will help the abs out), but do you think I should be focusing on ab strength or hip mobility? Any input is greatly appreciated.
    P.S. Great video btw!
