    This is what I like to see. Engines, all engines and details. You did a wonderful job and your presentation is superb. I'd like to see the rest of your fleet.

      Thank you! I plan to get out the rest of the locomotives eventually and do another video showing eventually else I have that built when time allows.

    First I heard of your Cleveland area residence. I lived “right down the road” a bit in Lorain for a few, still here in Ohio…. Great modeling!!! I bought a GP-20 I need to seriously weather, they retired em a couple years after my circa, will be referring to your videos 👍

    The most important point that everyone misses is that your layout is your dream and the theme is what you want it to be. You run what you want, your setting is your setting, fictional or not. That's the purpose. As a fellow Conrail modeler, Steve your work is superior!! From details to weathering and your locomotive fleet work is outstanding!! You keep on rolling!!

      Thank you very much! I tend to walk the line between keeping things fairly prototypical and adding a little spice to things on the railroad. I love building locomotives and freight cars to be prototypical and correct for my era but also like to add things that are reasonably close as well.

      Your welcome!! Nothing wrong with that at all. It's your world in your layout and you're the master!! I live in the Youngstown, Ohio area and I grew up on the Youngstown Line and the Fort Wayne Line. So my layout depicts some of that but not all of that. My era is 1998 October. I have other geographical areas of the system as well!@@ConrailSteve

    hi steve !!! thanks for the update... surprisingly, several months back i did the same thing as you, but with 2 p2k sd 60's. i found them at one of our local train shows here in western ny state for 35 bucks each, brand new , never even let out of the box !!! i am sure they were, at that time, 6-7 years old but in mint shape. i opened them up for a lube check and they just pull like crazy and are very, very smooth and quiet !!! also, i have 3 other p2k's, 2 ns sd 60's and one sd 60m crq safety cab.... great runners also !!! i don't detail as much as you do, but cr/crq consists run regularly on my bprr... thanks for everything, steve !!! great work !!!

      Thank you! Nothing like picking up good deals on older locomotives as they can be just as great as some of the new RTR stuff!

    Hi Steve. Awesome video!! I love that 8131! Love the grime running down its side and I love the locomotives where you can see the old Penn Central paint bleeding through!!
    Can you please do a tour for f all the areas on the layout where the locomotives get tied down??
    I love your videos and the layout!!

    • @ConrailSteve
      @ConrailSteve  7 місяців тому

      That 8131 I think is the best I ever managed to weather a Quality repair GP38 thus far! I do plan on doing another layout tour video here soon that will show all of the locations on the layout. I just have to find the time and be in the right mood to film it.

      I love your Channel Steve do you have any GP9 or GP7 engines or maybe some big SD60s the ones that look like a SD40 SD45 just a bit biger? Great layout 👌

    • @ConrailSteve
      @ConrailSteve  4 місяці тому

      As of right now I only have a GP10 on the layout and technically they were retired before my modeling era. I may have a few GP9s in the future but that will be a while before I get to the point of building them. I do have a pair of Athearn RTR SD60’s that I plan on building eventually just need the time to do the detailing and sound install on them yet. Maybe next year on those.

      @ConrailSteve that will be a cool video man most definitely. I grew up going to see PAM AM RAIL ways But they were called Guildford rail systems when I was a kid. They had so many GP38 GP 40's. The yard was full of them, but you also saw a couple of rares. They had one old Boston and main GP7 still doing yard duty. I couldn't believe it. You know, online says that they retire these a long time ago.Well not this one. They finally did retire it in late 2006. I guess the something happened with the prime mover.And they couldn't find another one and they couldn't get a rebuilt in the price range that they wanted.It would have been too expendave so they sold it to a museum. But seeing that loco with the old Boston and Maine paint skin blue with the white pinstripe going down the front of them was iconic.I've only seen one or two of those in my childhood In the same exact one when I became a teenager too until they retired it and sold it. Pam Ann is sold out To CSX For the past few years now they have definitely upgraded the track. Plus CS sold about 45 of their locomotives to Pam Amarillo's back in early 2000. They have them all back now. So many C40s. 6 axle I love these engines For some reason, I think they're called - 8 so I believe.

    Where’d you get the tree backdrop? I model New England so it would make a good far-off backdrop of the rolling hills. Maybe scaled down a touch. Thanks for the great content.

    How did you get the doors to open? Do some models come that way? Great roster.

    • @ConrailSteve
      @ConrailSteve  7 місяців тому

      Thank you! No models that I own came with open doors. On all of them in the video I had to cut to door out of them cab and replace it with a etched metal door from KV Models.

    Where’d you get the ballast express loco?

    • @ConrailSteve
      @ConrailSteve  7 місяців тому

      The ballast express C32-8s are custom builds I did a few years ago using a Rail-power shell and an Atlas motor and drive.
