This video was one of the first I ever made, and while I still think the tips are useful here - this unedited garbage excuse of a video has no right being my most viewed. If you're scrolling down here, I recommend you check out some of my more recent stuff, as both the content and the production value has gone up a LOT in quality since this one was made!
@@Derfholm One tip that I found was using heads for creatures not intended. and It was kinda cool seeing it used here on werewolves. my example. I hate the feline features face. it looks weird, the face is all sunken in and I don't like it. I use the rabbit face and it works surprisingly well. though I really hope at some point the folks over at heroforge update the feline and canine features faces. or even just add new updated ones because these old ones just ain't it.
Really amazing video! I have a character who wears long dress gloves and I've been using rubber gloves for the longest time. Your artificial arms tip really helped me get the look I was going for with her.
I arrived at the shadowed eyeballs thing all by myself ;) I'd correct by saying that it looks slightly better if you keep the slight saturation on the color, like in the original sample
Found your channel about a week ago. I love all of these tips you have! I can't wait to try some of these out after some college finals! P.S., I love that these tips are mostly for non-pro users like myself. Nice to know I don't always have to pay a little extra to make higher quality minis!
I’ve been using hero forge lately mainly for getting into dnd but also as a creative outlet for myself when it comes to jus making interesting characters, I usually base them around Warhammer fantasy but either way, I appreciate some of the tips my guy!
Thank you! On another note entirely - the comment you sent on the 'Heroforge Rookie Mistakes' video has been hidden for some reason I can't figure out, but I was still notified of it and I still have it in my emails, so you will still have an equal chance with the rest to get picked!
I am trying to make a barbarian but cannot seem to figure out how to make the legs thicker and more muscular. Any tips on getting a barbarian physique? I'm thinking Arnold here. Thanks in advance.
You have 6 or so different options - 5 if we exclude clothing. The most obvious is to pull up Muscularity as far as you want, makes the legs chunky as all hell Second is to go into 'Weight' and pull up 'Lower' pretty far as well, but it'll make the legs look thicker, not more muscular. Third is to raise the size of the model as a whole, by going into 'Height' and just pulling it up. It doesn't only make the model taller, but also more muscular. You can mess around with the Curves/Booty options to change the look of the legs closer to the torso. You can intentionally lower the size of the torso/arms to artificially give the illusion that the legs are bigger by creating contrast between lower/upper And then there's obviously using certain clothing pieces that also make legs look chunkier, but I assume since it's a barbarian, that's not what you're going for. However, I'd recommend that whichever barbarian 'loincloth' thing you do go for, you pick one that isn't too bulky/chunky, because again, the contrast will make the legs look small by comparison.
@@Derfholm Thanks a lot all those tips really helped. I experiment with a naked model this time which made it easier to get the physique right. The barbarian is looking solid now but I can't share progress since the comment gets deleted when I do lol.
Mm, well, it's easiest using the water-colours (liquid bottle section), but it also depends on the surface (aka the item) you're working with. It's possible, and made easier with lighting, but a little hard to explain via text. I can go over it in a future video if you want!

Any tips for elephant feet?
Trying to make a mammoth variant, but hate how elephant feet are not a thing yet and I'm forced into human boots.
